Appliances Direct

Anyone bought from this company before? They look a bit dodgy as there is a premium number for CS and there is no UK address in "contact us" section, which I tend to look for if I am buying from an unfamiliar site.

Trustpilot reviews on them seeem to be good, but there is some comments about goods being delayed in delivery and you had to call them to sort it out, not something I want to do if I have to pay premium rate as there is a comment on a HUKD post that the guy was on hold on 45 minutes to sort something out!

Surprisingly, they are listed as one of the retailer accepted for the existing Samsung christmas cashback promotion, which ends on 21.12.2023, so if there is a long delay with the delivery, I will miss out on the cashback claim, which is the only reason I am thinking about buying a phone with these guys, which is currently on offer.

They're part of the BuyitDirect group, they have an Ebay shop under that name, they also have an Amazon shop under the name of BuyitDirect LTD if you want added protection of Ebay/PayPal or Amazon. I've used them countless times over the years without issue and their address is plastered all over their Ebay and Amazon "about me's" and also at the bottom of all their own website pages:

Buy It Direct Ltd is a limited company registered in England. Registered number 04171412. Registered office: Unit A Trident Business Park, Leeds Road, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD2 1UA.

    Used LaptopsDirect many times.

    From the company website:
    Address:
    Unit A Trident Business Park
    Leeds Road
    Huddersfield, HD2 1UA

    Phone:
    01484 481386
    03300 412271

Also - not sure why a phone would be delayed in delivery. It isn't an appliance and as such can be posted with ease. (edited)

if they sell stuff they don't have stock and have to be sent from another source. this happend to me when i bought a tablet from very. it stated instock on their site but it was actually out of stock and it was sent from another company that they sourced, so it meant the tablet didn't arrive until a couple of weeks later but the frustration was that they didn't know when it would be in stock once i had made the purchase but they wouldn't let me cancel.

They're perfectly legit. Their warehouse is 10 mins from my house and I know people who work there

They are a kosher company. I've driven past their shop many times. I've even been in it

Pretty sure I bought an appliance from them some years ago, but I don't even remember what.

... Probably was before 2008, when they were taken over. (edited)

if you don't remember, it meant you didn't have an issue. we tend to remember problems!

Scammers haven't yet found a way to bypass mandatory Data Protection registration,
so if you are confident that the true operator of a UK website is also the genuine merchant, generally no issues.

For your application, check for any DP reg at ICO website:
Appliances Direct / Buy It Direct: all OK:
    ico.org.uk/ESD…52X

    For random example not OK:
the well-known shifter of privacy-issue Eufy cameras and power related products:
    Anker Technology (UK) Ltd

It shows as 13p per minute, but if you have an inclusive calling plan then it should be "free" as it is no different to a landline.
