Hi hoping someone can help - I have tile grouting in a peach colour I don't like and want it dark grey. Is it possible to cover this for cheap, can I paint over it with something thats long lasting? any advise please

The area is within the shower area so needs to be water proof and not smudge off etc, and also the rest of the bathroom

Is paint possible? if so what type?
thanks

remove the grout and then buy some grout in that colour surely seems the simplest choice?

Takes a little bit of time to remove it but re-grouting is easy....

If your grout is just dirty you can use toothpaste mixed with Coca-Cola to clean it, search youtube for videos of. It

Buy a grout rake / saw, remove the existing grout and regrout.

If you go down this route, be careful. If the grout tool slips out of the grout it can score and scratch the tiles.

As mds has said, it takes time and it's a bit messy with grout dust.

Get yourself a grout spreader too.
There is nothing long lasting that you can paint over horrible grout. Your only option is to remove it as much as possible and then put clean fresh grout over it. Make sure the grout is mould resistant. I suggest you try try it first in a small area to get an idea of what your doing. Using a dremmel can also remove grout.
If you want it to look good and last rake out the old grout and re-grout the tiles, don't waste your time with grout pens or paint.

A manual grout rake removes grout pretty easily, but watch out for tiles that are out of perfect alignment, so that you don't chip their corners.

You can also get a grout removal blade for a multitool, I've used one when replacing a damaged tile, but I don't think they save much time or effort over using a rake and probably easier to damage the tiles with one.

Mapei Fuga Fresca. It will always be a bodge, but your best chance of it lasting.
