Would anyone who's received theirs be able to tell me whether the shallow thing pictured sitting in the top of the deep pan is a steamer, or just another shallow saucepan? Thank you!

The first two saucepans were from a Bentalls stock clearance that was so long ago I honestly can't remember what I paid but around £35-40 each I think; not even usable on induction. Would have been less than half price at the time. Over the past few years I've treated myself to the equivalent of about one a year as & when I see them going cheap. ( though rarely anything like half price) a couple of casseroles (26 & 28),a couple of the frying pans (24 & 28) plus a couple of large double handled sauté pans & a steamer. Lids are stainless as opposed to the glass ones. Most I paid was for one of the casseroles which was around £85 but that was still well over third off. You just have to get lucky & spot them when they 're on sale (which isn't often) That being said, I've noticed the newer Accademia pans (with the notched base) now appear to have a brushed finish inside which is a real shame, all mine are the earlier mirror polished ones,

they are beautiful how much did you end up getting yours for? say for a 24cm frying pan? they seem to go for 90 or more now

Showing as £41.18 now

If you really want their decent stuff & have money to burn, see the 'Accademia' range. (was once also called 'Academy' I believe) Manufactured in Italy, tri-ply, beautifully polished inside & out & solid, riveted stainless handles. They look beautiful. Was lucky enough to grab a couple in an end of line sale a while back. Mind you, they're straight sided so liquid goes everywhere if you try pouring. Gotta love Italian design though !

I've got these... Not very good quality. The stuff from kitchley (amazon) was a lot better. Rough casting, sharp edges. Needed a fair bit of time with a multitool to make them more ergonomic. Also heavier than the same size pan from other manufacturers. I'd be looking elsewhere.

Pans manufactured today will not have the same longevity as something that was made a decade years ago. Everything is designed to fall apart after a year now, so you have to spend to replace it. For example, Japanese cars used to be famed for reliability - now the parts are made from the same as materials, probably in the same factory as everywhere else - and assembled in the cheapest location for shipping to the destination market. So you may just as well buy a Vauxhall or Renault as a Honda or Mazda now, won't make any difference.

Unsane

Heat added as good deal for what you get. But my wife and I have moved away from non-stick over a long period of time and invested in longevity instead, which obviously costs money. One of my small frying pans costs over three times as much as this entire set, though the frying pan will last forever given the right care. It wasn't something I thought about before but glad I did and very slowly (due to expense) built up an invincible collection of everything we'll ever need in the pots and pans department. Outlay was probably in excess of £3-4k for infinite use. Something to consider for the longterm, if inclined.

Mate, I’ve had these for over 8 years and the handles are now just cracking around the handle to pot join areas.
