I got an adx mechanical keyboard for my girlfriend last year. After using it I regret the purchase. I’d just go for a decent membrane one at this price.

Nah, Curry's.

Outemu according to this article, which suggests it ain’t half bad for the price:

Check out the Wooting One. Very nice!

So you agree with me that that you wouldn't go back then. All mice do the same thing too going by that theory but having something responsive yeah definitely. I don't know many people who have a premium gaming mouse but a cheap membrane keyboard though.

Just need a good TKL keyboard man, why does everything have a numpad; I’m a gamer not an accountant (lol) .

To be fair, keyboards all do the same thing and anything that works reliably will suffice for gaming. A mouse is a much more important investment especially if you play competitive titles. I’ve had both mech and mem boards and whilst I wouldn’t go back I wouldn’t have a huge problem playing with them. A bad mouse on the other hand is inexcusable.

Other than the sound which is probat too distracting for me, whats the main benefit compared to membrane keyboards

Can anyone recommend a low profile /short travel linear keyboard?

Thanks and back in stock and ordered

If you like Razer then they do a few different TKL ones, but what you go for depends on what kind of switch you're looking for. The BlackWidow Lite is pretty decent and has been as low as £55. It's got Razer Orange switches (similar to Cherry Browns). Or they have the Huntsman Tournament Edition which has their red linear switches but at the moment that seems to be £115 or more. Plenty of other options exist from manufacterers like HyperX, Steelseries, etc.

Yep I've been using it. Don't seem to get many emails but guess prices are not dropping.

I use in meantime. Still active tracking and can track your wish lists automatically.

Not really... Refurbished Corsair K70?

It looks great on paper & made by a reputable brand, take a look at some reviews on YouTube if you want to be sure.

Is this actually a good keyboard? Looks like its been around £110 on Amazon for a long time so big discount here.

Can anyone recommend a deal around this price point with cherry brown switches and similar layout?

I am surprised HP put their name on something like this thinking PC-people (who are known for tinkering) won't notice (lol) . I do like mechanicals but they are noisy so everyone else here hates them.

They did another video comparing various (Cherry MX and others) key switches too by running blind tests. Quite an interesting video. Almost convinced me to try a budget keyboard until I found a Corsair K70 with cherry Red's on scan for a good price

Watch Linustechtips on YouTube. They do excellent reviews on the best budget mouse and keyboards. They did a mouse on quite recently. They’ll explain everything you need to know.

I'm a few components away from my gaming pc.. but what do people look for in a gaming keyboard & mouse? is there anything I should definitely avoid?

These are dreadful. I have barely touched mine since it arrived. Not mechanical. Doesn’t have n key rollover (despite saying it does). Avoid.

I have this keyboard, red switches and they are a bit loud when you type but the build is solid and it looks nice. Don't be a idiot and try and hoover the dust and rubbish it collects behind the keys. It sucked up a key into the hoover and I spent 15 minutes looking for it.

this one :)

Completely new to keyboards that light up but love the appeal, could you recommend a basic one for general use?

XG blue mechanical switches Full RGB

Isn't this the regular price? Currys were selling this plus the G502 mouse for £80.

You can set the board to have Inverse FN keys. I’ve had that on my G512 carbon since I got it. No need to press function anymore.

You can also inverse the fn key, so pressing just F9 will play/pause, and holding fn an pressing F9 will press F9, if that makes sense. Can be done in the logitech software

Currently using this keyboard, only thing I would change would be to make it tenkeyless find myself needing more room when gaming

Got this on Amazon for this price last month. Looks to be discontinued as Amazon no longer sell it. Decent keyboard for the price

Yes and if you are doing a pipe connecting to your water butt its best to only get drips that don't need much pressure to release the water. As long as there is some pressure from the bottom of your water butt you can put the tubes to the height you want (best to experiment). Best to put all the drips at around the same level as each other to allow equal pressure through each drip, or if the drips are not level you could have a control valve to control how much pressure you need for each level.

I assume this would only do hanging baskets or raised beds with mains water pressure? If I connect it to a water butt it would only work on stuff at similar height to it?

Timer is more of an egg timer in that it doesn't automatically start by itself each day etc, it just turns off after a while. They have a couple of them cheaper at amazon warehouse

Great, thanks very much, will have a look through those!

If you have a razer mouse could always use hypershift and set the media controls to the mouse when hypershift is pressed. My first mouse was a Roccat that has media control set to the mouse when using the easi-shift button and now I can't go back it's just so much more convenient and makes picking a keyboard cheaper as I don't need the media controls on it.

Ah this worries me then as I have a Corsair mechanical cherry already. I was upgrading to give my boy the Corsair and use the Steelseries myself. I will see how it is when it arrives and if its crap then I will just send it back. I have friends who have moved from Corsair and rate this keyboard as the best though. I never expected the LCD to be of any use to be honest. I have found that the Corsair is a good keyboard, but bounce back of keys when generally typing is a pain at times and the spacing is a little too spread out to make it comfortable for anything but gaming. I am also having issues with certain keys sticking, mainly on the number pad.

Sorry made a mastake i dont have the pro just the 7 with mx blue swiches, As i said i have the tkl version i love it more for the size wouldnt go back to full size again. tbh i do agree with master yoda the screen is a waste of time

I don't think this keyboard is worth it at all. I have the Apex 7 (and also tested out the Pro) and as someone who used Corsair keyboards for many years I found it a massive downgrade. These keyboards are very cheaply built, poorly supported and surprisingly low spec. The OLED screen is totally useless and good for nothing - just a total gimmick - it's basically not supported at all on anything - just shockingly poor software support. The media controls are absolute rubbish and feel extremely cheap. I paid £99 for my Apex 7 from Amazon and feel sorry for anyone paying the £179.99 RRP lol I like the lights on it (setting the keys to light up like a graphic equaliser is very cool), the magnetic attachment for the wrist support is nice and the illuminated USB at the back is good. I'm not impressed by the switches - preferred the switches on my Corsair. I only got rid of my Corsair keyboard as it died after spilling a can of drink all over it and wish I'd just got another Corsair as they are seriously in a different league to these.

How are you getting on with it? Worth every penny?

Yeah, sadly people just don't understand a deal when they see it haha. Yes, it is the Ferrari/Lambo of keyboards but hey, still discounted.

Go for it, they have put the price of the amazon one up to over £40 whereas i paid £23 as a spare, I paid £120 for my Qpad mk80 about 7 years ago, just had to replace one of the keys last week, the unit will probably last a lifetime

Compact in the sense that it doesn't have any unnecessary space around the keys on the edges like my present cheap keayboard. Now I'm doubting myself, through pretty much all reviews give it 5*, and it's still £80 on amazon

just in case you are not being sarcastic this is not compact, its a full size unit nearly the same width as my q-pad at 440mm, this just doesn't have the wrist rest. (and has no usb pass thru) It also looks very like the amazon basics model but is three times the price so not sure it's a good deal.

Just ordered this compact beauty after watching youtube reviews

Probably scraped the text from the currys web page showing the item

I have this it's a good kb, a deal would be under 90 at least. I have found the software to be very intuitive and allows me to set macros for each program. Along with autohotkey I can do so much. The switches are very light and have a very short actuation point which I don't really like. Also it's huge.

Good price. Also at OCUK.

I got this for £110 reconditioned at Scan. It came in a brown box but apart from that you'd think it was brand new. Literally not a mark on it. The armrest was still sealed. Everything like new and with a decent warranty.
