Yep but you then get £5 to spend on stuff you probably didn’t want or spend more on an over £5 item

Adidas.Addict

Sports direct pay for the rights to use branding from recognised brands on cheap tat that they get made 'exclusively' to sell through their retail business. Many brands have been seriously downgraded over the last couple of decades by this company.

Bought a pair of Jungle Mocs, cheaper than than the pair I bought on offer from Amazon last year inc postage

chris_allen

It's a shame because like others have said Merrells I have purchased a while back are still going strong but a pair I bought this year and not comfortable, fraying in areas and generally of poorer quality

wilf1234

As always with Sports Direct 'deals', where the product is actually available elsewhere, the prices seem to be pretty similar elsewhere (Eg Amazon and decathlon etc)

I agree. I love my timberlands. The upper and the wide fittinf is great. And were very comfy....until sole wore out. I did wear them a lot but the sole does wear out quicker than other shoes.

BadMF

The soles are made from recycled rubber these days and don’t last anywhere near as long as they used too. I could easily get a years worth of abuse out of a pair of eurohikers. Now you’d be lucky to get three months before the sole delaminates or wears though from just general use. Not what they used to be sadly.

fiqqer

I bought the Killington from TK Maxx, one of their specials. They are very comfortable and look great but the sole wore out far too quickly - around 4 months. I tried cutting the sole of some other shoes to stick on but it looks rubbish. So although a great shoe/boot, the sole makes it poor value for me. The uppers are in fantastic shape but the sole is now worn through. I'd rather spend £100 on an ecco sale product where I know I can get over 2 years wear.

nery

not so much of a deal you can find those for 55£ elsewhere but still cheapest around

Spaz

I have the Killingtons in just about every colour, comfiest boots ever.

Thanks for the reminder. I checked my co discount club and lo, 10% off instore or 3% online which I'd overlooked. My pair arrived today (exact replacement for 7 year old favourite pair that have worn out) so I'll be able to kick myself with them for overlooking my discount!

no recently the staff were standing in the door puishing the card!

ragstaa

Yeah pretty much that, to send you offers sometimes, and post the catalogue to get you to spend more. Some customers did benefit more when they started to personalise offers, but they were regulars spending a lot. Just another way of getting your information. They liked to pull out a big diagram and try to extrapolate data like spending habits with and without a card, if everyone was a card holder we'd get X amount extra revenue per customer(ridiculous expectations since you get holiday makers, kids, ppl in a rush, those who just don't want one, some don't speak English, those who have an impairment, addresses that don't exist.) For the irregular shopper not much benefit. If there is a cardholder only offer, then you can just sign up on the spot. Make sure to opt out of everything you don't want to receive.

KCooperman

So they can track your spending habits....no benefit at all to the customer.

ScorchingHot

What’s even the point of those cards?! I remember as a kid going in there and if you didn’t have a card, you basically weren’t welcome! (lol) Every time they still ask me even to this day, but I’m yet to find out the benefit of these cards! (lol)

rowde83

wow I'll be sure to have mine on me when i next shop at matalan then!
