i think this is a really good price for the specific model!

Are people really so lazy that they can't be bothered to pull up their carpets, drag them into the back yard and beat the dirt out them with a stick or cut the grass with a pair of blunt shears, gather it all up in a bag and chuck it over the fence? We don't need high technology for this, most don't get anywhere near enough exercise as it is. The idea that things change over time makes me feel a longing for days gone by.

Bilbo1968

Yawn. You're making me sleepy.

pasgun

Are people really so lazy that they can't be bothered to vacuum of cut the grass? We don't need robots for this, most don't get anywhere near enough exercise as it is. The idea that nobody should have to lift a finger to do anything makes me feel ill.

This is the international version . I am not sure if you will need to pay import tax. Maybe there is a way around it?

m.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Mi-Robot-Vacuum-Cleaner-2-International-Version-396314.html Cheaper to buy from the Italian warehouse.

oshmo8

I bought the part from AliExpress and fit it myself using a YouTube tutorial. Looks like it’s a common issue.

pdbaggett

Unfortunately despite the fact I pay for literally everything else using PayPal this once I used my debit visa from a different account so not protected other than trying to issue a chargeback if they start playing funny buggers with me.

Xiaomi stuff is the same price as big name models - even when ordering from China !

did anybody get charged in the uk for customs and excise charges ?

r2mahara

I can similarly recommend the v5 - great bit of kit if you're interested about these things but don't want to spend a huge amount. I'm a robovac convert after trying this one. Will probably spend a bit more next time around and get one of the ones with a mapping feature.

WMac

how do you get round the shipping cost, its £9 for me

ceanth

I've got the v5. It's an excellent product, been using it for 2 years with no problems. The direction it goes in is quite random, apart from that it does a great job and also works as a mop!

generationz

These are cheap but are they any good ? Anyone have experience with them ?

Cheapest at the moment for the Xiaomi MI robot. This or the 2nd gen??
michallemanczyk

Actually it was 20% on the 23/03/2018

supervalue

I can recommend the Original Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum above this. I paid around £240 for it a couple of months ago and is quite good so far. It does however get stuck on obstacles sometimes so needs to be used when someone is at home to keep an eye on it. This version gets you the LIDAR (laser distance) sensor so it smart maps as others have said. Example link to it, but it can probably be found cheaper elsewhere https://www.gearbest.com/robot-vacuum/pp_440546.html

mspychala

25% off ebay?!

michallemanczyk

I've had both v1 and v2. For me, main advantage v2 over v1, is better handling with different levels of floor (ike going over cable management tubes etc.) Obviously there are futures like mop, washable filter (which can fit v1 as well), increase power on carpets, changed app etc etc.. Bought v2 for 270 delivered (thanks to 25% off eBay voucher advertised couple weeks ago). This was excellent price, worth spending little bit extra over v1. Definitely avoid the lite version.

playamonte

Yup ! Cannot for the life of me understand why people love the things, still that is the power of advertising I guess. Bought the AEG cordless one that was on here a couple of months back (think this one with a bigger battery) https://www.johnlewis.com/aeg-cx735wr-cordless-2-in-1-stick-vacuum-cleaner-watermelon-red/p3248293 Superb build and very good for what it is, easy to clean out as well (clean it most days) as these type machines only have a small dust container.

I got mine about a month from Aliexpress during their Xiaomi sale. I paid £323. If you keep your eye out deals pop up all the time on here for Xiaomi stuff. I asked them to ship mine from their Spanish warehouse so I didn’t have to pay customs du

scottishpunter

Interested in the Xiaomi V2 but seems to cost about £460, where have you seen it about the £280 mark

Bramber

This vac is way overpriced. The xiaomi roborock V2 is amazing & less than half the price of this one - the only thing it’s missing is Alexa

According to an article I just read the 960 has an older engine (same as the 800 series), the battery runs for less time on a full charge, and it comes with 1 virtual wall instead of 2). Am perfectly happy with the 960 - I use on hard floors and have never really bothered with the virtual walls anyway.

adam89

Great deal, heat added,Does anyone knows if there is huge difference between this one and roomba 980?

iancwatkinson

It's a great deal, heat added. Given that as you say, you can sell the echo 2 for £50, it makes it a really good deal.

I have 3 of the 1st generation ones. It's great. The only reason I went for 1st Gen was it's cheaper and I didn't need the mop as already have 2 robotic mops. The 2nd Gen has slightly better suction, can climb 2.5cm obstacles instead of 2. Had washable HEPA filter but slight lower quality due to washable filter but lesser expense for parts. Had basic mop, better sensors, has pressure sensor on top so if it gets stuck under sofa etc it can back out the way it came in. Depends on what your requirements are. Even the first generation is miles better than most of the competition! Have a look at comparison videos against other models on my robotic vacuum and mops play list on YouTube of interested, you can click my profile on hukd and I think there is a link the to my YouTube channel (not monetised before anyone moans!). Make up your own mind watching those videos to see if it fits your requirements.

pototea

Im thinking of buying this robot vacuum but am suspicious about the reviews of how great this is. Its £335 from a UK seller with 14 day returns policy. Is it worth the money?

bubblesmoney

If you click my profile, on hukd, you should find a link to my YouTube channel, although I haven't posted videos on my channel for a few years now, but I do update frequently on gadgets I like in my play lists (my channel is not monetised before someone moans). You can find a play list (among many others) for robotic vacuums and mops where i have included many comparison videos I found useful. Hope that helps.

beard7

Thanks, didn't realise there were other changes. Will take a look

bubblesmoney

It can climb higher obstacles, auction is slightly better, Filter is washable but slightly inferior for size of particles it catches, design improvements. So it's not just mop. Extra sensor on top so it didn't get caught under sodas and backs out when pressure sensor is triggered. Even the old version was miles better than irobot etc, this newer one is hands down better. But only you can decide if buying old version and separate robotic mop is better for you. I bought the older version it was £170 more reach when I bought mine, I wanted 3 of them for each floor and already owned 2 robot mops whose mopping fiction was better than the one on the 2nd Gen here. So only wanted the vacuum feature and not mop. So opted for earlier version.

I have both the mops you mention and 3 robot vacuums. Horses for courses. Each one is different. The cheaper one is smaller but less battery life. I don't get the chaps moaning about its too much work. Not much more work than wiping your own arse after a poo. Guess most of them are moaning as they can't afford to buy one and have never owned one. Hope this deal helps someone actually interested in buying this. Don't give a shit about the usual hukd moaning idiots or the heat. Hope it helps atleast one person interested in buying this. See more details on Amazon reviews where people discuss the differences. Watch YouTube videos showing the differences. On my profile if interested you can see YouTube link to my YouTube channel which has a playlist on robot vacuums and have added a few videos that I found useful on the same playlist. Hope this helps you make up your mind.

bubblesmoney

Poor me I guess, so bad that I have more money that sense (lol) (lol) (lol) (lol) (lol) (lol) I will cry myself to bed that I have more money than sense. What a sad situation to be in. How wonderful it must be to be like you with more sense than money. I guess everyone can't be lucky like you, so I will have to make do with money for now! Cheers. (lol) (lol) (lol)

tightar5e

Who cleans the iRobot Braava afterwards? Another iRobot Braava?

coconut38

Given the layout of our flat and the fact we have two dogs we do need to help Roomba a bit anyway so for us preparing the mop wouldn’t be too much of an issue..but I do see your point :) I think in our case it would still save us quite a bit of time

coconut38

Op, did you research between this one and the Braava Jet which is also reduced? Thinking seriously of buying one but not sure whether worth going for the more expensive one.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01IEEVE76/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1521591021&sr=8-4π=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=irobot+braava&dpPl=1&dpID=31t1kRfjRKL&ref=plSrch
