Do you reckon the cold brew bags are exactly the same as tea infusions? I’ll still buy the cold brew ones at the reduced price and pour hot water on them. The flavours are good. (lol)

postmang

Why is there a cold brew technique? Don't get hooked into marketing hype

saywhatnow

Thanks for the heads up, OP. Definitely going to be stocking up.

Missed this, I'll take a look in my local. My daughter is not allowed anymore sweet drinks, dentist orders and she likes these teas. £5 for a bottle set. She will be happy.

Someone wrote a comment on my post for the starter pack, saying you’re not meant to do that due to bacteria. Here is the link to the comment. :) https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/34713223

For the person that has everything and more - a tea light lift When you need to change the tea light immediately after the last one has burnt out and your butler is not handy.

I can see this being quite handy... instead of tilting a deep lamp, and burning yourself trying to light the thing.... light it outside the lamp, and lower it in lit.

Mainly for convenience (can be dropped into any bottled water on the go). It is intended for people who can't wait for the hot brewed tea or infusion to cool down.

postmang

Why is there a cold brew technique then?

Loubou

Thanks for the info. :) I wasn’t aware of that. I assumed the dried ingredients would be the same and didn’t know about the bacteria side of it.

Marcsi80

You're not supposed to brew regular infusions and teas in cold water due to the naturally high bacterial load of dried ingredients. These need to be brewed in boiling or near boiling water to destroy bacteria. The ingredients going into cold brew have been subjected to an intensive heat treatment, which makes them suitable for cold water use.

Loubou

These don’t use hot water. You use cold water so it’s a more instant drink. I’ve not tried using cold water on regular fruit teabags though. They might actually be the same. :)

Not true these are smaller with less tea inside sorry to say, check the weight of this pack 1.5kg for 600 the 240 pack is 750g thats a big difference in tea per bag.

mrtea1967

Cant quite remember but the price looks rather close to what they were offering on there Prime day or what ever it was a few weeks ago ?. One cups are ok they just need a slightly longer swim. I would have to buy a large airtight container to keep them in,wouldnt trust the bag to keep them fresh, unless you run a cafe or burger van where they can be shifted quickly

Redscoped

Sorry but what is the issue with the one cup. Only I have had these and the tea bags are the same size as all the others. If you want a stronger tea leave the bag in longer weaker take it out sooner.

Rest assured, the next time Merthyr comes up on my job board I will definitely pick it up. If it's as bad as you say it is, I will make my voice heard in the reports. A scathing report does go back to area management, and does immediately action change. I'm sorry Merthyr has let you down though, but like I said, if I encounter anything like that I will speak up in writing via the reports.

joe_shmoe

Staff hours is a problem in many. It takes a tough manager to get near the hours needed. Its senseless really. You have people waiting to spend, and leaving or spending less on a saturday night .. It reminds me of the 80's boom when every bar was 4 deep queued on a sat night.

wolf359

The merthyr one is very badly run. Nowhere near enough staff. Tables are never cleared. Was in there last night and we had empty plates and glasses on our table for over 2 hours. The toilets are filthy lol. They closed for a refurb last week. Can’t tell that they did anything to it lol

As far as I know, its available to anyone in any Whitbread owned restuarant (Beefeater, Brewers Fayre, Table Table, Whitbread Inns and selected unbranded restuarants). You certainly don't have to be a premier inn customer. This deal is also available in all of the above, not just beefeater.

emribena

Not necessarily single parents but parents where one is taking the kids out in the school holidays or a grandparent or 2 friends with 2 kids each meeting for breakfast etc. Me and my partner take it in turns in the holidays to take the kids out and sure lots of others do so you don't have a massive childcare bill. The headline price is based on one adult and 2 kids which works out at £9.50 / £3.17 per person as I didn't mention 2 adults.
