Parking/Tube into London

Posted 1st Aug 2023
Hi all,

Hope you can help.

We’re staying over in Tolworth Premier Inn for a quick day out at Chessington. The day before, we want to have a day out in London. We are travelling from M1 North and the plan was to travel to Tolford and get the train/tube in to London. The issue is that M25 is a nightmare and we might miss a lot of the day sightseeing. Would the best be to park up North of London (Watford etc) and get the tube in?

I don’t mind been stuck in traffic on the m25 later in the evening knowing that we’ve had a bit of time in London first. People have suggested driving to West Finchley and getting the tube in. Anything recommendations to avoid ULEZ, congestion charges etc and to make it easier.

Cheers, Jamie.

Sorry, Tolworth. We’re basically in Milton Keynes staying over at the moment. The M25 traffic around 9 will be crazy. We would get in Tolworth later and by the time we get into central London, it will be the afternoon. An idea was to park around Watford and get the tube. Travel back and drive to Tolworth and stay in the hotel there for Chessington the day after! Hope this makes sense!

I live near Chessington and I've never heard of Tolford - do you mean Tolworth?

When I used to go to London, I would park at Cockfosters and catch the tube.

Park up at Totteridge and Whetstone station (zone 4) and get the tube in.
You are then straight onto A1 / M1 going up North when you return to your car.
