I have done it with "any android phone" before on a phone purchase. I sent them an old J5 which didn't even have a screen. I bought a replacement screen off ebay to try and repair it but the screen was rubbish so sent it back. At that point though the broken phone screen had been binned!
Got £150 with no issues whatsoever. So as long as you have a trade in for "any tablet" then you will be fine.
Did the phone turn on at all?
Clue is in the name - ANY broke tablet. Yes it will be fine, they don't care what you sent when it's a scrap item.
