I bought a slow cooker last year and I think it's one of the best things I have ever bought. Makes cooking great food easy and have saved me a fortune from buying so much junk food. Should have got one years ago.

NS007

I can't justify buying one, only know one meal.

ashley.liu

Can i use this to cook rice?

LindsayWilson

I make rice pudding in my small one! Perfect size.

yom

Hi there, I hear your point, but I have one family member who is coeliac so it's great for that slightly different portion. Also for leaving hot supper for someone due in at a different time I leave it on the warm function and it won't spoil. I imagine it would be great for students also. It can serve 4 for soup as a starter portion.

Not sure why this is so cold. This is the cheapest I've ever seen it. I'm tempted!

Loubou

I think people have voted cold because they think it’s just a slow cooker. Maybe you should have written a description explaining that it has got other functions too. It is a pressure cooker, sautés, sears, steams, reduces and slow cooks. It’s the same as an Instant Pot but has more pressure settings. It’s expensive but a good price compared to what it usually is. :)

A few minutes at most to reach pressure. Thanks for link to USA recipes. Much more on there.

Loubou

That’s great. I’ve not used mine yet. Not sure what to cook. I might do chilli con carne. Here’s the link to the USA recipe book. It’s different to the one that we get in the UK. crockpot recipes usa How long did it take to reach pressure before the cooking started please? Did you take note? :D

Pimpson

Well I cooked the Thai green curry from the recipe book and in was amazing! Just need a list of other recipes now.

Loubou

I've not used one before. If you look on the Crock pot USA site, you can get the recipe manual for it. Or use recipes for the Instant Pot. Should be similar. There will be loads on Google and probably their Facebook page. :)

MrBeansDrivingInstructor

Cheers. As I say, it doesn't make sense. Thank you in anticipation.

dealhuntaa

The nutritional information is per portion as all values are too low to be for the whole dish. I think I will write to them and ask. Will let you know their response

MrBeansDrivingInstructor

Um... that doesn't make sense. The carbs figure is for the whole dish, surely? If you want, for example, a 4 carb portion then just divide the whole dish by 10 ie ten portions. If you want a 20 carb portion then eat half of the total dish.

dealhuntaa

Thanks, that’s a bit of pita though? Forgive me if I am being stupid here but.. For example a Black Beans and Mushroom Chili has: Nutritional Information: Calories: 306 kcal, Fats: 10 grams, Carbohydrates: 40 grams, Protein: 18 grams To work out how many portions there is for this I would need to work out how many carbs for example are in all of the ingredients and divide that by 40. Thus giving me the number of servings.

MrBeansDrivingInstructor

I didn't mean that each meal was four portions. I meant just divide up by number of portions to get the figures and used four as an example. Obviously it depends upon how large your portions are, but looking at the size and quantity of the ingredients should give you a good idea. Apologies for any confusion.
