Dropping in price even more if anyone wants to turn up the temp!

Beware buying the reconditioned models from the same company. I made the mistake of chancing it. Despite being listed as checked and reconditioned the one I received must've been checked and reconditioned by Had fluff and hairs stuck under every wheel, the spoiler was completely snapped off and the car was stuck in French language (pricetag on box was in Euros) despite going through the lengthy process of updating the language to English 4 times it still wouldn't change. Sphero (manufacturer) were good to deal with and they did try and solve the issue via email however the merchant were poor to say the least. I returned the vehicle. For £85 I'd say it's worth it though, the quality of the car, the animatronics and app are all high quality, if you buy new.

Bob_Green

I buy LOL dolls at £12 a pop and the big one for £60 so who am i to talk (embarrassed) but £150 for what looks like a remote control car seems a tad overpriced in my opinion.

JohnnyRoller

The same could be said about any toy... Lego, pieces of plastic sold for crazy money... Hatchimals, like seriously wtf?... Fingerlings, looks like something from Poundland... Kids will be kids, and their toys will always be sold at a premium if the demand is there.

Biddy2

It’s a race car. That talks. Has moving eyes and mouth. Lights too. Watches Cars the movie with you... about it really. XD This looks better I reckon. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyVMFZPi_Qk Completely different I know but still. XD

I remember these coming out at £300, at this price seems very affordable. Great find in my opinion! Do I need one? No. Do I want one to play on Christmas day while my 4 year old plays with boxes? 100% yes!

There's some new listings on eBay for this at £20 and £30. Not sure if it's dodgy!

Refurbished from the same seller for £53.95 with code depending who was going to play with it ;)

gazdoubleu

They've probably bumped up the price in anticipation of the code as cheaper here without code

grubpot

Wow! Loving the interactive eyes!

diddlypockets

Sphero ball is ok, the car is a remote controlled car, what's so special about it?

Just checked and there's a pile of BB9s for £49.95 and R2-Q5s for £59.95 in the Birmingham Grand Central John Lewis (top floor between the TV and laptop sections). So looks like the deal is on in multiple stores.

You can avoid Oxford St. You’ll either pay £129.99 or beat a tourist to death.

Georgeharris1982

If only it was local I would have bought a few and stuck them all on eBay. Lol

gslgregory

Thanks for posting - I didn't see previous post so would have missed it

Googlyhead

The one constant in Star Wars is that the Empire guys usually have the coolest gadgets and variants. There was a time when the Empire side were definitively the 'bad guys'. Then Lucas did his rewrites and the prequels effectively suggest the whole thing is a bunch of tantrums and (aptly) rebellion. And I guess the path of the current reboot is basically telling us to to root for the "dark side"

Haircut_100

Sorry, I didn't see your earlier post, somehow I must have missed it. When I walked into the Disney store today and saw these Spheros at £40 I was so surprised at the price that I posted it immediately without checking to see any previous deals. If I'd have known that these were available from last week at this price I'd have rushed out to pick one up on the spot there and then, absolutely cracking deal!

Rang Disney store in Manchester in Thursday the see if they would reserve one, they said they can’t hold sale items. I asked if they could as it was my birthday and would be working in Manchester on Friday and they said they would! I love it, an absolute bargain at this price. So much better than the bb8 one as the sound comes out of the droid not your phone.

If I was talking about this I would have said something like "getting this for a tenner is one of my best buys.". I didn't and anyone with a couple of brain cells to rub together would have realised I was talking about another version of BB-9E.

Haircut_100

Pretty sure you didn't make it that clear that you were talking about a very different product to the Sphero being discussed in this thread.

peter1969uk

The one I saw was amazon, but had a link to JL too, I've added the link below. If someone had put a JL deal deal up, maybe it was concidered a duplicate as this one mentioned it? https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sphero-bb-9e-app-enabled-droid-with-droid-trainer-4995-amazon-2964835 Out of stock now anyway, so no more temptation to buy.

martyboy70

And as neither of those have ever been close to a tenner, it was blatantly obvious I wasn't referring to them. It's really tiresome having to draw pictures for the hard of thinking.

Oneday77

As Disney also sells these and sometimes does a version with the force band. There was enough implication to mislead and you know fine well. Quite how that made us a coupla clowns, I’m not quite sure.

I just know the abuse I will get from her indoors if I buy this, but........

faz1975

Went for one of these for the simple coding ability. The star wars gimmick helped keep some interest too although I think I've used it more than my son. Coding recently updated to be more scratch blocks like recently, if that interests anyone. Also great for price

peter1969uk

As a grown man, I know I shouldn't want this, well BB-8 or R2D2. But after 4 hours of charging and 5 minutes of playing with it, I know it would end up back in the box on a shelf, never to be used again. So I think I'm going to resist the urge to buy this. Though I will give you heat for the price.

Price had dropped to £69.99 now. Typical Amazon. I’m sure they wait for me to buy something then reduce the price just to diss me off.

stevenfeeney

How did R2D2 drive across a desert in ANH using tiny wheels? Why did Luke bang his sister? Why are none of the Sith good enough fighters? Why are some old hermits believing in religion the custodians of freedom? Why can the most feared stormtroopers in the universe not shoot? Should we play this game all day? Last Jedi was brilliant. Also - the irony of calling a single Star Wars movie "comic book" as if the others are fine literature. (lol) (lol) (lol) (lol)

slannmage

No they just made a stupid comic book movie... What was the point in the first film? It set up nothing to the second. What was the point of Snoke? What was the Point of that massive Casino section other than to give the Chinese Market something to do. What was the point of Fin? He did nothing all movie, they turned Po into a stupid character as well. Why Kill Leia off just to revive her? Seems a bit stupid, especially since the actress is dead, but also now Humans can fly in space... odd. Most importantly though why turn Luke into a character he never was? Why give him a stupid reason to try to kill the bad guy? He never gave up on Darth Vader, why does he suddenly do that now? All the film has done is make me hate the Rebels and think the "bad guy" is in the right. Why is Rey good at everything? Why are the Women all competent at their jobs, but the men all fail and are stupid? What was the point of the Pink haired lady if you were just going to bring back Leia? Get rid of her and just give Leia something to do.

stevenfeeney

Last Jedi was brilliant. It took a chainsaw to the stuck up sensibilities of Star Wars fans.

slannmage

I disagree, Rogue One was so boring I fell asleep while watching it, then the second time I fell asleep again.... it’s the worst one imo. The Last Jedi also ruined Star Wars for me, not only did they make The Force Awakens pointless, they made me not care about Episode 9 and ruined key characters like Luke Skywalker. Any ways, Star Wars is dead to me now, the new films are worse than the prequels.... at least they made great new worlds, the new ones are just boring fan fiction.

IndianaBlues

Will these work with a Kindle Fire 7? Looking at getting one for the little one but the Sphero website is a bit confusing. It doesn't look like the Droids app is compatible but then it says BB8 works using the Lightning Lab app... do they do the same thing?
