Most of retail advertisment could be considered misleading!

bluefish2303

I don't have to justify anything. The fact is the claim that it's 45% off is misleading.

MLD9

That doesn't justify it being cold - still a good deal. You haven't offered any alternatives at this price point!

MLD9

I'm going to pick this up as a present tomorrow - seems a decent price considering the zoom lens will be better than using a phone camera.

saintsmoney

Good find OP. Looks like this Gorillapod thrown in so £15 - £20 saved. Yes it's from 2014 but at this price it's hard to beat. The big question is - can a modern smart phone do a better job? And after watching this youtube clip, my answer would be no way, at least for long distance video. The other side of the coin is that it has less manual control than most smartphone cams. It's also missing a flip-up screen, so not ideal for vlogging, as you can't see yourself while filming (unlike with a phone using the selfie cam). Still, that zoom lens... makes this very, very tempting. I will ponder your deal this afternoon, thanks for posting @jackthelad Edit: To be fair I should mention that actually you can see yourself while filming using the PlayMemories Smart Remote Control app here. It does mean you have to use your phone screen to see the live view feed from the Sony cam though.

Pretty good price for carbon fibre. Also it's nice and long at 171.5cm. Can mean the difference between a nice day out and a backache from bending down to the camera all the time. Even some of the more expensive ones seem to only cater to short people.

Superb price - used to have an aluminium Befree, and thought it was a great travel tripod. Eventually sold it as after getting a carbon 190Go! it's weight advantage was practically eliminated, and then I switched to using Arca-Swiss style quick release plates. If I were still using the Manfrotto RC2 plates I'd jump on this.

Not bad i’ve used this type which is a Newtonian, mirror on the rear, great for local Solar system, though buying a few decent eyepieces will go along way to improving your experience. Try Plossl 20mm.

It does seem to read that way, but I think it's referring to the light inside the mount to help see the coordinates? It is a bit confusing though, you're right

Didn't notice the head bundles when I saw this (I've already got a good head, and I don't use Manfrotto's RC2 quick release plates any more so just automatically ignore them), but those are superb prices! Have you looked at Panasonic LUMIX TZ range? I bought the Mrs the TZ30, which has a 24x Zoom and takes some stella photos (just don’t put the ISO up to high) has built in GPS tagging of the photos (this can lead to quicker battery drain if the camera is left on standbye instead of turned off) the video quality is great too shooting at 1080p 60fps. You can also buy a waterproof housing for them off eBay for a reasonable price to use underwater or just make it more rugged

JayBengo

It all depends on your needs. I’ve got the A6000 and love it. Although to get an equivalent level of zoom will cost a couple of 100£ more. The A6000 is a much batter semi pro/pro camera and takes lovely videos as well as fantastic photos with what was the worlds fastest autofocus system able to take and refocus 11 shots per second. Compared to the 5.9 of the canon it’s no comparison. Just down to how you plan to use the camera and what you expect to achieve out of it. Hope this helps

dtc333

This might sound as though I’m going off at a bit of a tangent ... but please bear with me ... I bought a GoPro Hero 5 Black thinking that it would be fine for taking the odd video with but mainly to take photographs with - I realise now that it doesn’t really suit my needs. What I do like about it is that it connects to my ‘phone so I can save and send pictures .... I like that it is waterproof (although I have added a waterproof case) but what I can’t really get on with is the size - it’s just too small. Does anyone else have these issues ? Back on track ... is this Canon camera the answer ? How robust is it ? How easy does the Wi-Fi connect to an iPhone to send and save pictures? Does it have GPS so that your pictures are geo-tagged with the location? What’s the battery life like? Any suggestions for the ideal camera with all of those features would be appreciated. Thanks ....

But its 4x the price?? Its bound to be. Anyone looking for a budget tri-pod this is a bargain. I have had a Hama tri-pod for over 20 years, only one of the six locking clips has recently failed (I know, it only takes one for the whole stand to be somewhat compromised!) but that has only happened after I foolishly gave the stand to my 3 young daughters who had for some reason really got into making up and filming short Harry Potter stories and recording themselves on an old Panasonic Mini DV Camcorder I gave them. The stand still works, I just have blu-tak wrapped around the faulty clip to hold it in place. If you are just looking for a cheap and cheerful tri-pod for occasional use this would be fine. If you are a serious photographer with a £2k DSLR why are you even looking at this as an option...you surely should be looking at something in the same league as your camera?

sabresonic

Do you have a link please? I'm not seeing that anywhere on Amazon.

generally they are a bit optimistic for real usage as the weight will be assumed to be exactly balanced and level over the centre column i see the scope has a tripod collar.. is it adjustable at all to change the position of where it screws into the tripod? does it support it ok when kept level?

louiselouise

I bought (well, boyf did) the 52" version of this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DHPCSA0 for use with a Praktica Spotting Scope https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0037B10B2 but he says he can't secure it properly (it supposedly can handle the weight)? Not voting hot or cold - I've been looking at the Key Mission 80 for a while but the reviews and the ltd spec (1m waterproof, built in battery, mediocre video) put me off at £239 - but £99 starts to makes it a bit more interesting. But then what more does it do than a good smartphone ?
