Gitzo are the best but assuming you want something cost effective, I would choose something like this, but I'm no expert. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Neewer-Carbon-Fiber-66-168cm-Portable-Camera-Tripod-Monopod-with-360-Ball-Head/202285847308?_trkparms=aid=555017&algo=PL.CASSINI&ao=1&asc=20151005190540&meid=4853788b824a4d51a7e94004311f06d5&pid=100505&rk=1&rkt=1&&itm=202285847308&_trksid=p2045573.c100505.m3226 lots of helpful advice on photography here https://strobist.blogspot.com/2014/09/choosing-tripod.html

GS_Dan

Bear in mind that lighter tripods will be more easily affected by wind etc which will introduce movement, which kind of defeats the point of them. It's a balance.

Harry_Radzuan

This one can take up to 3 kg, so I guess yes?

montana78

I have d600 and prime lenses. Makes it very heavy. What do you suggest?

montana78

Can this handle a full frame camera with a heavy lens? I used 20mm sigma art lens with d600 on my current stand and it keeps pointing down.

Well you should surely to able to return it under warranty or try spraying the top with something like wd40, don't get it on the 'pods' (flexible couplings) or they'll loose their friction. I think the bit that fell off should just press on. I've just pulled one off mine and it just pushes back on (sorry if you've tried all this already)

sefgrt123

Ive got 3 of these for zoom microphones and I’ve not had any issues, but I’ll watch out for this happening. I have wondered how it manages to remain to stiff with just a bit of friction haha

Thanks bought the eBay deal, heat to both. Bought the evo deal as well this week, it’s arrived and it’s very good but not for every occasion due to the bigger footprint. That’s me got enough accessories for the time being!

CalumCoyle

Way better for me as I need a touch more stability for my 360 camera. My son uses a dslr and the normal mini may be better for him but then a gorilla pod is better than that.

Mike_HUKD

Not so sure this is "so much better" than the pixi mini to be honest. Having used both, it certainly has more features but the pixi mini is just so small! Genuinely pocket sized, so it gets way more use for me. Then again, I use a compact rather than a DSLR, so I guess if you have a camera bag anyway then this may make more sense.

Another model worth considering https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0152X043W?tag=22&th=1&psc=1

Mugginz

Yes. Definitely I have used this setup to film timelapse, the sea, sunsets etc. Also serves well to just hold the camera while waking around. The legs fold up for a nice shape to hold. Works well with phone, pocket cameras or small dslr well too

Great small tripod - ideal for travelling. Average price as per Camelcamelcamel is £38 - lowest it has ever been.
Batmobile543

Indeed.

rossysaurus

Just as a warning - I bought this specifically to mount a monopod for a 360 camera and the head flexes around the mounting screw causing the camera a metre high to wobble 20cm side to side like a pendulum. The ball head is rock solid and the screw is solid but the plastic "frame" around the screw flexes too much.

Max.Cady

Cheers OP ordered, been watching the price on this for a 360 monopod camera. :D

Mine arrived within a week and it is flawless. Delighted with it. Works perfectly, easy to set up, app is easy to use. Only negative is the motor noise - but when you ‘stitch’ the videos together and add music, it is not an issue..... Besides for this money, it is a CHEAP gimbal. Delivery and communication was fine and tracking was provided using the duty free option.

Orville

I received my gimbal today. Fortunately, mine is fully-working and appeared to be setup for use with a GoPro Hero 5 out of the box. Motor-action is smooth and balance was just about perfect. I decided to run calibration (via phone App) to ensure everything is setup perfectly, and it was actually a real pain in the rear. The App guides you through setup (in Chinglish), but many of the pictures are reversed 180-degrees from what is possible with the gimbal. After trial and error I finally got it to complete, and to be honest it made no difference to out-of-box settings. Motor is super-quiet and stabilisation is superb - 10x better than the so-so EIS built-into my GoPro 2018 (flashed to Hero 5 Black). So, for ~£63 this is an absolute bargain. Let's see how long it lasts....

Latinoheat

Would this work for the hero 5 cube? The one with the built in housing?

jinjur

Hey bud, tried on 3 phones.............one IOS (IP7) and 2 Android (S7Edge)............no dice. In terms of calibration, you got it............I can't And with regards to the weight of the camera, its a small Yi 4K device and is listed in the actual product afvert :/

Orville

Mine has not arrived yet, but I have a few suggestions. *Try connecting to the gimbal using a different device. Bluetooth issues may just be a bug between your phone/App version and the gimbal. *It is essential to calibrate the gimbal for your camera. Of course this is difficult if bluetooth is faulty. Once calibrated motion should be smooth. *Dependent upon weight of your camera, you'll need to adjust torsion settings to achieve desired speed & smoothness. Good luck.

Most of retail advertisment could be considered misleading!

bluefish2303

I don't have to justify anything. The fact is the claim that it's 45% off is misleading.

MLD9

That doesn't justify it being cold - still a good deal. You haven't offered any alternatives at this price point!

MLD9

I'm going to pick this up as a present tomorrow - seems a decent price considering the zoom lens will be better than using a phone camera.

saintsmoney

Good find OP. Looks like this Gorillapod thrown in so £15 - £20 saved. Yes it's from 2014 but at this price it's hard to beat. The big question is - can a modern smart phone do a better job? And after watching this youtube clip, my answer would be no way, at least for long distance video. The other side of the coin is that it has less manual control than most smartphone cams. It's also missing a flip-up screen, so not ideal for vlogging, as you can't see yourself while filming (unlike with a phone using the selfie cam). Still, that zoom lens... makes this very, very tempting. I will ponder your deal this afternoon, thanks for posting @jackthelad Edit: To be fair I should mention that actually you can see yourself while filming using the PlayMemories Smart Remote Control app here. It does mean you have to use your phone screen to see the live view feed from the Sony cam though.

Superb price - used to have an aluminium Befree, and thought it was a great travel tripod. Eventually sold it as after getting a carbon 190Go! it's weight advantage was practically eliminated, and then I switched to using Arca-Swiss style quick release plates. If I were still using the Manfrotto RC2 plates I'd jump on this.
