Has anyone had the anti glare coating from Specsavers recently?
How have you found it? I think I'd benefit from it due to night driving and computer use.
I've read online that anti glare is prone to scratching, dirt, grease etc. Is this true?
Does it come off if cleaned incorrectly?
Any experiences or opinions appreciated.

sorted byIt didn't work at all. I don't know if it was just how they did them, the type of glasses, the prescription or what. Heard many good stories, especially with people who do photo shoots and filming, but it made it worse for me.
Specsavers add an anti-scratch coating which should probably help with that issue.
Is it true that the coating has s greenish or blue tinge to it? Can this be seen from the front or inside?
It's green. Far as I know it's always green. I could see it very clearly inside, all the time. I'm guessing it's not quite so bad for others as a lot seem to think it's a great option and I couldn't stand it, but either way it is something you can see from the inside (although possibly just from time to time normally). From the outside, it was green on photos. At any time you'd normally see glare there's probably a green tint.
I get it every time.
It has a blue/purplish tinge but nothing you see when wearing & nothing that people will notice when you wear them.
They appear clear unless you get up close in the right light. The colour is pretty much invisible.

Where do you get it done? Sounds far better than what I had!
at least four or five different places:
started with specsavers
then tesco
then lensway
the googles4u
In the middle I bought another set from tesco & had to send back to get a refund. reflections from the front were fine but when you can see stuff from behind you reflecting on the back of the lenses you know they are out & out lethal.

Thanks It reflected on the back of the lenses when I had it done at Specsavers. Only place I've had it done. With it being Specsavers I assumed that's probably just how it was or it was because of my prescription or something. They didn't seem to think anything was wrong when I complained
You should have refused them because when you drive you can see whats behind you at the same time. Bloody dangerous having 2 visions at once.
I went nuts at Tesco. They were lethal.
They took it off for me but didn't seem to see any issue with what I said. Already had arguments over the prescription before that was added. They believed driving with the new glasses was fine even though I said things were blurry, too bright and they just weren't right. I wasn't happy standing still with them on! I'll be avoiding that Specsavers, they can't seem to do anything right.
I didn't think so much about the danger, but you're right, I just couldn't stand seeing the colour. First time I'd had it done and had read others sometimes see the colour, but I was seeing the green constantly and that was horrible.
If I had it and it wasn't working for me would Specsavers sort it for free. Or would it be chargeable.
If it is done right you shouldn't really notice it and so it shouldn't be an issue. If they do it wrong then it'll be horrible and you won't want it. In which case they'd sort it for free, it's their mistake. Having said that, not sure if I paid for having it and now have glasses without it and never got any money back. So make sure they refund you too if you pay extra to have that and then get it taken off.
I'd give it a go because it can be useful. Just be sure to try them before leaving the store. If you can see the colour clearly from the inside and/or are getting reflections inside refuse them as it's been done wrong. Otherwise, you should be fine.
I would not contemplate buying glasses without it, especially for driving and computer use.
Even going in shops under electric lights, watching the TV, even walking down the street at night under street lights, they make a fantastic difference in cutting down the glare you get across normal lenses, and the "starburst" from lights.
I say go for it.
Check with Specsavers.... They have a great attitude towards customers trying things. Tell them you are unsure, and see what they say.
I tried varifocals, hated them. Went back, and Specsavers replaced the lenses for normal and refunded all of the price difference.
Great service.
Thanks some good tips there. Did your glasses have or had a green tinge to them?
every optician will replace varifocals if you cant get away with them.
Op had the coating for many years and only ever had one issue with it coming off, most recent pair from a new optician and very expensive lenses, they told me not to use washing up liquid on the lenses even though I had used it before and they hadn't told me not too. They took the coating off completely and you can definitely notice that its not there.
have had specsavers before with the coating and they were fine, but won't use our local one anymore as the lenses they put in my glasses didn't match the prescription they gave me.
possible, I suggest buying a "lenspen peeps" to clean your glasses with, they're around 6 quid on ebay and are excellent
Hi, what is the antireflection thing you get on the ultra clear lense? Just not as good as antiglare? Cheers
Either they forgot to add it or its a load of rubbish.
I'm going back to query it.
