I get what you are saying, just teasing!

Perhaps, but then it just goes to show how tiny the compartment is too... it could have been every 2 weeks whereas my current manual grinders last for ever by comparison. And, of course my point still stands for their size they are an actual waste of money.

Think you need to reconsider your familys salt intake if you need to refill this every week!

I foolishly bought something similar to these last year, but they are disappointing given their size because you literally have these things taking up so much cupboard space with so little space for salt and pepper, wouldn't be so bad if the whole thing was able to be filled but it's just the visible portion that hold the S&P. Surely there is a better design where batteries and design account for the least amount of space useage and maximis the space for the actual S&P? Don't even use them anymore because of this as can't be bothered filling up every week.

Had these at Hayes too.

I know what you mean. I ordered one with a paddle but it felt a bit awkward like it would be a pain to keep on if I move it round. I'm not convinced but will give it a go, I can see the safety benefits.

The paddle is where your index finger is as you cut, if you go off centre wobbble stick or if your not happy the blade stops cutting the moment you lift your finger, this allows more control over the cuts you make and allows you to be more accurate. The position of the thumb switch and its configuration mean that once it is on its on.

Doesn't come with a charger and hard plastic case either, also not included is a Mercedes Vito van to carry it to different building sites which I was expecting. Seriously did you really expect it to have batteries included that cost £40 upwards each???

I know, right?! Doesn’t come with a diamond encrusted pair of eye protection glasses or golden gauntlets either. What a con! (annoyed)

(Old Hitatchi) Angle grinder 115 & 230 hikoki with 2 discs £99.98 at toolstation
Found 12th MarFound 12th Mar
Excellent price for the pair was old Hitachi brand Angle grinder 115 & 230 hikoki with 2 discs

I bought the Hitachi 230 mm one recently. It's built to last, that's for sure, but don't believe the hype about it being lightweight. It doesn't have slow start, which is also a drawback, so there's a kick when it starts up. If you're going to use them a lot, you may want to spend 50-100% more for something more refined, but these are great for the money

And may require a time machine to purchase.

Exactly. I bought this 2nd hand to cut 80 mm concrete paving blocks and it worked out really well. Good price for a new one

I have one of these, or at perhaps a previous version. It's a very good, smooth, solid, powerful machine. And the switch is nice, unlike the one on my 4.5" Makita AG which is absolutely awful.

I have a Hitachi SDS drill, which has worked flawlessly, and I've now ordered the angle grinder. Hitachi are grappling with the takeover and name change to Hikoki. In the meantime, there are some clear bargains around.

There is a simple mod which makes for very very fine grinding Google is your friend.

I bought one for my parents in 2013. In use almost every day.

I have it. It's fine. Used it with some Kenyan AA beans for both a V60 and an Aeropress. Just divine.

I have this, and the grind is fine for me, using an AeroPress and a moka. Not perfect, in that the quantity is not adjustable enough and is inconsistent in terms of the amount. It's an ugly plastic box as well, but does the job.

This is a decent grinder for the price. I use one to grind decaff beans for my ESAM4200 (it saves me from having to scrape out the full fat beans from the hopper in the ESAM).

I remember when I sold a Makita cordless power drill in the local paper. And then six months later, I received the very same one back as a Christmas present from my brother-in-law, minus the power pack.

I find locking switches more of a risk than a safety feature. I've got a grinder with the same sort of switch and it's ridiculously fiddly, especially if you're wearing gloves. Maybe this is more robust, idk. Decent price anyway.

Good price, but buy from FFX. Once amazon has driven out all competition, they won't be price matching

Have seen many injuries with angle grinders, have to say on investigation that none have been through proper use, so read the instructions and do the pre use checks and always use the right blade for the material

Dunno I'd prefer a two button start then soft press trigger button. Having a switch up front inherently means you've not got as much leverage with your right hand. A latched on angle grinder doesn't seem too good an idea to me; by the time you've unlatched it when summat goes wrong (a bite) the disc will be through cartilage and working it's way through the nearest bone. This. My missus bought me the generic version for Christmas for coffee beans. Does the job fine but yes, I used a pastry brush to get all coffee out when cleaning it.

Bosch angle grinder 750w corded - £35 @ B&Q

Thought it was a good deal considering next cheapest I could find was £38 on amazon for a 700w grinder rather than 750

Can I get some recommendations for some bargain disks for an angle grinder. I bought a cheap one over a year ago but haven't got the disks I found yesterday as I struggled to break open a terrible Oxford lock. Thanks in advance.

I think I have to agree actually and will cancel my reservation to get this one

I thought it was worth mentioning the Makita one. I've never found that power was a huge issue with angle grinders, especially the 115mm ones. Green Bosch vs orange Makita - I wonder which is better? Neither is professional grade equipment.

The Bosch has 50% more power than that makita

Love the photo of the angle grinder. Could they really not put the guard on the right way round?

This offer was on a while ago. I wanted to replace a burnt out grunder I had. Hardly used it in the past so thought cheap would be ideal. In the end after seeing it in store, the size and weight, I bought a Bosch 850. 3 year guarantee and really neat to use. These Mac Allister tools may be cheap but on seeing them you can see why. Not cold though as they will do a job.

Got them last time, all good for DIY

As above, that's a newer model that you've added on the drill there. Try this one :)

I picked one up a few months back when they did the same offer, it has been in use daily and still going with out issues. At this price point it is a good option you could easily spend 50 to 100 + and still get failures.

Worx professional 9” angle grinder - £35.99 (with code @ eBay / positecworx

Let’s worx through this Christmas together. A good price for a big grinder.

This is by no means considered a cheap tool. It is from worx and from their professional range

They'd prefer a battery operated one. I haven't tried this particular one, but I have had a couple of cheap angle grinders for nearly 20 years, and they have easily survived a bit of occasional DIY use.

Unless your carrying a transformer along with you too along with a power source lol

Bosch Professional GWS 7 115 Corded Angle Grinder - DOTD - £39.99 @ Amazon
Found 14th Dec 2018Found 14th Dec 2018
Usually £57.99 on Amazon, this is in their Deal of the Day offer for today only at £39.99 delivered. A good price for a Bosch Professional power tool.

On my B&Q grinder the guard clips into place without a scew or allen key - far easier than this, and the Makita I looked at. £25 from Screwfix was a great price!

Got this on offer at Screwfix for £25. Good grinder overall, although the guard is a faff to rotate. You have to unscrew the retaining screw all the way out, prise apart the ring, then re-assemble. With my old grinder you just slacken the screw and rotate. Also the retaining screw worked loose and fell out somewhere.

Better value IMO is this Hitachi G12SSCD 115mm Angle Grinder grinder, comes with hitachi diamond cutting disc and carry case for £38 delivered from My Toolshed, cant get the link to work but is under Big Brand offers at their site.

A lot of the Bosch Blue tools seem to have dropped in price lately (drills in particular) but this is the cheapest I've seen this particular item.
