Water repellent hiking trousers - £9.99 at Lidl from Thursday 16th

I noticed that, I wanted grey but also wanted zip off so got black.

Yes a size bigger recommended. The men's grey ones were roll up legs and the black ones zip off.

The 34s fit pretty well TBH, and I'm normally a 32. Smallest womens they had in Stafford was a 12 so not worth risking for someone thats a size 8, but at least I got some :D

It sais men's trousers but if you click on the pictures they look Unisex by the higher waist line. The material looks unforgiving so might be worthwhile getting a size bigger unless the 4% elastane makes them uber stretchy. Great price beats £25+ pairs of creggys zip offs.

Merrell Men Cham 7 Limit Low Rise Hiking Boots ( Size 12 ) £29.17 Amazon

Good price for an entry level Merrell shoe. 4 Available in size 12 but a bit of searching might reveal some other cheap options for this model.

I know, but it's the inconvenience more than the cost. I'd take the chance but every size 12 Merrell shoe/boot I've tried (although not tried this specific one) has been too small

That's the great thing about Amazon free returns on certain shoes...

expired sadly, now doubled in price.

those aren't shoes they're Canoes (lol)

I got some very good value hiking gear from regatta, but what I have found were their hiking shoes probably are not one of them. I found them to be too heavy and render hiking a tough task.

Reviews have swayed me not to buy

No good for me size 10's higher price but a good deal. Oh yeah "low rise boots" why not just call them shoes !

Ordered. Thanks for posting.

Salomon Speedcross 4 Trail Running Shoe @ Amazon for £64.99

I recently purchased these myself to start trail running and they are a great shoe. Excellent grip and very comfortable. At the time of posting all/most sizes in stock but only in… Read more

Not one for scrambling or running I'm afraid, but do like a nice comfy pair for general walking on different surfaces (5-10 miles a day). The Hoka One Speedgoat (original) were perfect (although a bit 'squeaky' on polished floors at first), but but really helped with my bad arches, giving me a bit more freedom after a few years of daily pain when walking only short distances. They've not much life left in them now though and thought I'd try these for size. I did wonder about socks as when I tried them on I was wearing quite thick socks and have since tried them with no socks and they a little more comfy. Will have to get some thin trainer liners I guess. Can still feel pressure on the ball of my foot though, so maybe need a wider or more forgiving shoe? Thanks for the info Saaandy.

Hmm the best thing I can recommend is go to a shop and try the next size up. I spent a lot of time making sure the size was good. Depends what you're doing in them too - do you need a tight fit? I'm scrambling up mountains in the lakes so I want them snug. If you were just trail running you might not want them so tight. I went to a decathlon to try the sizes as they have them all in - might be worth a visit before you make a decision either way? Alternatively what socks are you wearing? Do thinner socks help?

I normally wear a size 10 in trainers and mine arrived today (Size 10) and are a good fit lengthwise. However, they do feel a bit too tight (width) and feel uncomfortable around the ball of the foot. Are these normally a narrow fit or do they relax after wearing for a while? If not, gonna have to return them. :( Maybe need a half size bigger as some reviews say?

I was really struggling with sizes but found that they sized almost half a size smaller than my nikes! So I bought the same size as I wanted a tighter fit!

I've done over 200k in these. They're about the best for the money. You'll still get some slippage on wet muddy areas, and they are awful on road areas. Do get a half size larger though.

brilliant boots i purchased the mens ones after breaking my ankle and leg by wearing cheap hiking boot which didn't support me, these solomons have gave me more confidence support and grip, picked mine up for 90 pounds on sale but prices have shot back up and even at full price its worth it

Exactly what I was thinking, they are niceeeee

I've had mixed experiences with this company. I posted a deal with these shoes two years ago via milletsports (payment went to Activ Instinct) and got them for £83 with no trouble. Last month I attempted to order 3 dozen squash balls with a discount code that would have been by far the cheapest deal available. Once again Activ Instinct took the payment and delivered quickly, but to my surprise only THREE squash balls were sent. After contacting the company via email and phone I had no luck and ended up raising a dispute with PayPal. It took 2-3 weeks with still no reply until I got a refund and I believe that was directly from PayPal not Activ Instinct... 50-50 I guess :/ p.s Check their Trustpilot rating...

I think he means the brown ones
