The iPhone 6s was launched in September 2015 as an update to Apple’s popular iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, both of which were launched almost exactly a year before. When it was released, the 6s took its place in a long succession of revolutionary iPhone models, taking everyday smartphones into completely new territory.

Should I by an iPhone 5SE, iPhone 7, or iPhone 6s?
Should I buy an iPhone se 2016 or iPhone 7? I don't really want to pay anymore than £130, so this might mean it is necessary to buy one refurbished. If you find a deal of a 6s unde… Read more

Thank you for the replies. I don’t have Windows to get iTunes either unfortunately. We have a Chromebook but Isearched for iTunes on the Google Play store to no avail, so not been able to access DFU mode. I’m not fussed about restoring any data from it. It’s just a hand me down phone for my son as not wanting to spend £ on a new one.

ahk_08

You can do a hard reset by putting your iPhone into DFU mode, and when connected to itunes it will detect its in recovery mode, and you can restore back to factory that way Bearing in mind you’re iPhone will be fully wiped and back to factory, if you’re happy with that then go for it If not best of luck getting a forgottne password to unlock will be difficult. Check youtube if theres any work arounds.

iTunes for Windows is still available from Apple - unless I’m missing something. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT210384

Not sure how long they have being doing it but MusicMagpie are offering phone rental deals that last 12 months. Loads to choose from in the refurb models. Unlocked start at £6.99 … Read more

Too expensive for the mobiles tbf. 6s sells for what on music macpie £70 if not even that now.

Haircut_100

I'm not so sure that it's a good deal to rent an iPhone 6s at £6.99 a month for kids as you suggested. Much better to just buy a 1st gen SE for £60 or so, if they lose it or drop it then it's no big deal.

Worth replacing iPhone 6s battery
I have a iPhone 6s 128gb I use no issues with it not a scratch on it but the battery is at 75% and needs to be replaced it has got worse since the iOS 14 update is it worth getting… Read more

I was using a 16gb iPhone 6 Plus and the battery went down to around 70%, although I could have upgraded I decided to replace the battery by going to Apple at the time. The phone was so slow and when you typed ina message it would appear a second later. After replacing the battery it was fast as normal but when the update came out it became slow again but not as bad as it was. conclusion, if you don’t really want to break the bank right now I would change the battery and put up with it until you decide to get a new one

Russ2626

I don't think it's worth it. I had my iPhone 6s battery replaced free when it kept turning off without warning (there was a replacement programme but I checked and it has ended now). The new battery only lasted about a year and I'm having problems with it again (last 20% runs out very fast and screen flickers when battery is low).

Thanks going to look at some trade in deals no point getting the new battery when its the cost the phone is now worth its a shame so used this phone

andynicol

£35 from a good shop local to me for iPhone 6s battery replacement. If I were happy with the handsets performance (battery aside), I'd replace battery and then decide after next years update which phone to upgrade to. Then I'd probably keep as an 'iPod' for streaming music via bluetooth to wireless speaker for in the garden, decorating etc, as it would be worth <£50 in a year and not worth the hassle to sell really.

Do you have money for a new phone? If so what budget?

£ 220 is still not a good deal for iPhone 6 at Argos in my opinion.

joannewallace01

I bought this for daughter from music magpie & didnt realise the screen size was so small. Ive returned it & bought the 6s

She currently has the SE. I have managed to get a fairly priced 7 in the colour she'd like best. Thank you all so much for your help! :D

Didn't read all the replies but isn't the IPhone SE a better option?

Try cleaning your SIM card, had this fault wiped the card and hey presto all fixed.

Scoliosis_Warrior

Try dialling *#31#. It shows a message “Setting Interrogation Succeeded, Calling Line ID Restriction Disabled” and then you can call normally.

Reset network settings on your iPhone. Some issues including problems on making and receiving calls would just require a simple network reset to properly work again. Thus, you might as well give it a try this time. Just head on to your phone Settings-> General-> Reset-> and then select Reset Network Settings. Try dialling *#31#. It shows a message “Setting Interrogation Succeeded, Calling Line ID Restriction Disabled” and then you can call normally. THE LAST ONE I POSTED USUALLY WORKS

I would call into Apple store and get their techs to check it out they don't charge
