Does it matter if it's 10 A?

Only if you overload it

For what you'd normally put into an extension like this it shouldn't be a problem but do check if using high load stuff like heaters, kettles, etc.

They still do the 1m version for £2 and I was impressed with those, nice and compact compared to a lot and with the wall fixing holes. Perfect for adding a load more sockets for low draw items like wall warts and the like.

Do power line adaptors work through RCD?

Why would you want an Ethernet connection in your garden?
:-)
Hot price, for something that is clearly and obviously perfectly safe if properly fitted and utilised. It's a heck of a lot more safe than the outdoor socket on my house, which was fitted by an electrician according to all applicable regulations and standards (it's just that it was over 30 years ago!).

I agree, I would much rather see someone use this (if fitted correctly) than have an extension through a door or window possibly with a separate RCD which could be forgotten about or misplaced. At least with this you have to have the RCD plugged in to use it.

Unless you are spraying water into the power plugs, (which is just plain dumb), it is not a "must".

I believe "heavy duty" has been addressing the physical strength and not current carrying ability at 10A.

Does not mean that I would not put a 13A fuse in if it if I had to.

No. You must wire the Live to the Earth, Neutral to the Live and the Earth just chop it off or connect it to the hot water supply or TV aerial. Don't forget to check the circuits by putting one foot in a bucket of water and touching all the terminals at once. If the water starts bubbling you have it correctly wired. Job done you have mastered Electricianary.

The unit was thick and requires a spacer or the inner box in the wall need replacing.I decided to purchase the slim fit and newer version from toolstation as I never wanted to use spacer making the socket stand away from the wall. The socket from Toolstation was a few pounds more but well worth it.https://www.toolstation.com/shop/Electrical/d190/USB+Sockets/sd3240/BG+Slim+White+Moulded+SP+USB+Switched+Socket/p26570

Same problem with this socket. It's 2.1 amps shared between both USB sockets. So you can't expect decent charging speeds if you plug 2 devices in. These might be of more use to permanently power low wattage devices like a Chromecast or a nightlight.
Why is this hot. They are very few and far between. None in the North East of England for the past 3 weeks when they were first published. Cold for me.

I bought these a few years back (earlier version), they are ok to set up once you read the instructions. From the 3 in the pack, 1 developed a fault (would not turn on) so I took them all back and I was given a new box with 3 new ones. Guess what, 1 again developed the same fault but I couldn't be bothered to take them back again. The remaining two work very well.
I've had three of these for a while. One's completely dead, and has been since just a few months after purchase, and another works sporadically. I haven't found set-up to be too bad, especially if you just want lights to come on randomly.
