Can Mrswitch or anyone else find me an android phone (6-8GB, 128GB, >13mp rear camera) that is not too expansive?

G5 has a better screen, e4 plus has a bigger battery, both have pretty poor processors.

At 100 pounds, Motorola E4 plus better buy than G5?

I used a link on here for a moto e5 from carphonewarehouse £59 + you have to buy a 1 month sim only for £13. I then cancelled the sim during the 14 day cooling off period getting the phone for £59. Make sure you cancel with the provider not carphone warehouse. This deal got no heat from the poster so look for his post and give heat if you use it

...haha Nokia must have heard I got angry, just got Pie today #dontmesswithjazzuk777

Nokia seem to be taking their time - there's been no update on the N7Plus since August (mad)

Thanks for the info @jazzuk777 (y) . Will certainly look into doing this, but may delay it until the forthcoming Pie update. Holds his breath!

Yes it is simple - you simply download the apk file and open it to install (you may need to adjust security settings - I think to give permissions to chrome IIRC). The .apk file I'm using on my N7Plus is 'MGC_5.1.018_Urikill_vXXII.apk' (I did briefly have a Nokia 8 and got the Google camera working on that too the same but I couldn't swear it was the same mod. Have a look at this discussion I use it alongside the Nokia app, as I use the Nokia app for the 2x optical zoom still. Equally with the Nokia 8 you'd have to use it to get the true monochrome photos if you want to use them.

Got one of these last week.Very impressed-quick, fast charging, great screen and decent battery. All for the price of a mid ranger-whats not to like

about to purchase, but gone up to EUR260. :(

Really? That's sneaky, I don't recall seeing one picture with a notch. The naming is a weird one. 8.1 screams a follow up to the 8, not the 7 plus. They must be following xiaomi steps on naming conventions

Nah, it's got a notch but they've got it set to hidden mode in all the pics on their product page. I don't see how they can claim it's a successor to the 7 Plus as it's marginally better in a few aspects. I'm really tempted with this deal anyway!

I think he's suggesting to buy the Nokia 8 at £220, than get this at £210.

That's the old model. New phone coming out is successor to Nokia 7 plus/ Nokia 7.1 but the naming convention has been changed by HMD Global to Nokia 8.1 (aka Nokia 7X in china). Hope this helps clear the confusion.

This was known as the banana phone... for those not in the know (or walking around in nappies)

I'm holding off buying one of these until WhatsApp gets released. I can live without pretty much any app and can even make peace with the camera, but going back to normal SMS isn't going to cut it for me. Hopefully it will arrive in 2019 It's sister phone the JioPhone (which runs on the same OS called KaiOS) has had it since September. Then Nokia can release some other phones (and make the camera better) my favourite being the 7610.

I bought a mobiwire that is a candy bar style phone which only has phone, text,WhatsApp and email it does does have a browser too but it is so clunky to use I.e the navigation is via a cursor on the screen that has to be moved via the 4 navigation buttons, that actually put me off using it. Handy if you need to google a number quickly though It’s also worth noting WhatsApp has the same navigation as the browser overall a good phone for reducing screen time although it does take a while to get used to

How come mine still says 33 pounds? Is it a glitch or taken down?

This is usually around £36 so not 50% off, and at only 50cl not low enough for me to give it a try, still got half a bottle of Suntory to keep me going on the Japanese front but still think they're overrated for the price, but goes to show what good marketing will get you!

now it says £19 for handset and £10 topup so total £29

I don't think that is the case but I did think exactly the same thing initially. I wanted a basic sim with no montly payment and when I first looked at GiffGaff I was under the impression you had to pay at least £10 a month. This is not the case, this only applies to their goody bag. If you only do airtime topup the credit lasts forever provding you use the phone at least once every 6 months. So on this basis there is no £10 a month charge, it's still only the £29 as the £10 initial top up can be retained for the 6 months. Providing the above is true then it's a no brainer if you want an emergency mobile for the glovebox, something basic for mum, dad, kids etc. One use for me, (which is what I wanted a basic sim for), is when you sign up to things online and they want a phone number. I would rather have a dedicated sim for signups so your main phone number doesn't get spammed when a dodgy company sells your number on. EDIT:- The terms do say "If you don't have an active giffgaff SIM you’ll need to buy a minimum £10 goodybag with this phone". so I don't know if that means you have to stick with the goody bag for 6 months or whether you can change that to an airtime top up. If it's the former then yes 60+29 and no deal, if it's the latter then the whole thing costs you £7, which is still a good deal. I think only Quidco could answer that one......

I'm off to withdraw now...

I'm off to withdraw now...

I went through the details. Here is the catch .. your cashback is not eligible if your contract is not live. Apparantly you pay 60+29 before you get 42 .. :/

If it was a more reliable supplier I would get it or if it had a worldwide Nokia warranty. I have had issues in the past with other handsets: mics not working, screen issues, headphone jacks going faulty. You have a better chance with winning the lottery than getting Eglobal to fix these issues. If everything works, it's all good. But if you get a lemon, you be crying.

Just get it for £219.99 from John Lewis with 2 year warranty.

If you can get the 128gb 6gb ram version for that price it's a steal (large bezels aside) ... That handset was £650 upon release due to the 835 SD flagship chip installed , opposed to the £550 release price of the 64gb varient. The glossy blue is what I have and it definitely is the 128gb which I paid £278 from a fulfilled Amazon supplier in June The 128gb is exclusive to the glossy blue .not the tempered blue The picture is of the tempered blue 64gb version and based upon various nightmare complaints , Eg below I think I'd rather buy a 64gb varient from UK company with full UK warranty like john Lewis who now have it for £219 delivered....

Have two of this I got from Amazon around March. Both where suffering with screen burn in when watching YouTube with comments loaded or reading any site that had a mostly white background for a while. Downloaded 'twilight' from app store as suggested on Nokia forums and set the colour temp to 1500K and screen dim to 2%. Screen looks normal and all the burn in has gone with no return. Only issue I've ever had with my Nokia's apart from missing having a notification LED but got use to it after a week. Cannot be happier with my phones now and for £170ish delivered, amazing value for money! Easy battery replacement too so looking at keeping these for a few years!

I got my wife the Nokia 8 earlier this year. It's a fantastic phone with pure stock android, pretty much on par with Pixel 2. From what I understand, this model has an improved smaller form factor, finger print scanner moved to the back, and an improved camera. This is HOT.
