IMDB here too. Anything over 8 is good, over 7.5 watchable, over 7 tolerable if nothing else on, less than 7 don't bother

    Imdb and Avforums.

Just take them all with a pinch of salt.
Amy schumer has never been funny.

Wow, you're not very generous. Only a tiny percentage get over 8. For me that is excellent. 7+ I find are usually good, far from just tolerable. 6's I've found watchable a lot of the time. Even lower.

Then again, I've always been an avid film watcher so can watch almost anything up to a point. Some low budget cheesy/corny films I can enjoy more than some Hollywood blockbusters.

An example is this I watched last week instead of a couple of high budget recent films I could have watched. And I enjoyed it. Only 3.2 on IMDB

I find most are full of fake reviews. IMDB is a bad one for that. First five reviews are usually 10/10! best movie ever made. Then the next 10 are. 1/10 worst movie I have ever seen.

Rotten tomatoes is garbage, it's flooded with bloggers and Disney in particular have mastered gaming it.

These are the top 5 movies of all time according to Rotten Tomatoes:

    1. Black Panther (2018)
    2. Avengers: Endgame (2019)
    3. Us (2019)
    4. Toy Story 4 (2019)
    5. The Wizard of Oz (1939)

Reviewing the subject matter has long been a problem with critics and with the increasing polarization of politics it's only gotten worse. Given the majority of bloggers lean heavily towards the left you end up with the situation where Amy Schumer gets rave reviews but a Dave Chapelle special about PC culture gets slated.

Also TV reviews are especially hard to trust as they tend to be more elective with critics choosing to watch something or not. Most people don't choose to watch and review mediocre series that don't especially do anything wrong, they choose to watch something they think they'll be a fan of, or that will be a trainwreck that will be entertaining to write a review of.

Find some critics or forums who match your tastes. Keep a lookout to see if the negative aspects are things you either wouldn't care about, would actually be a positive ("I couldn't stand how this film was filled with attractive people running around in their underwear!") or are things that genuinely bug you.

My own opinion and interests, then I go on to YouTube and various sources for further insights of the film. (edited)

    As above.

I watch depending on synopsis and then go to reddit for further insights.

Sometimes get some fantastic insight on iMDB with the lower ratings by members especially for films that have majority high ratings. Some notable ones over the years I’ve seen have been for films like Dark Knight, LEGO movie and Inside Out etc (edited)

I use the Metacritic links on IMDB as I find the professional mini reviews useful to quickly get a sense of what people liked about a film.

Imdb has not been real for a few years, I look for user recent review to see proper review. Think it's like amazon, they pay for their reviews. It's also very political, a lot of love/hate along progressive issues. All this make it hard to trust.
