Buying Ipad from CEX?

Posted 19th Dec 2021
I've been looking at getting a 2021 ipad pro 11 recently, thre 128gb wifi model selling for £750 most places.
I happened to be in my local CEX looking at games yesterday and noticed they had the exact ipad model I'm after for £630. It was boxed - and the box looked sealed and brand new - with plastic wrap still on. The tag said it was grade A.
Do CEX ever sell boxed new items? I'd had thought they would open them to inspect the items? So do they re-seal / plastic wrap boxes?
It seems too good to be true. If I ask will they let me inspect the ipad before I buy - I assume they'd have to?
Does anyone have experience buying expensive tech from CEX? anything I should be wary of?

My local CEX refuse to buy sealed electronics.
Tried selling a hard drive sealed in the box a year or so ago and was told it can’t be sold as it’s sealed, it’s the same with games.

You get a 2 year warranty with CEX. I would go back to store and ask to have a look at the iPad.

Have you tried very, they are currently doing 20% off for first credit orders? They currently don’t have the one you want in stock but I waited a while and was able to get one, it even works out a little cheaper.

That iPad might have sold out now so go now and stop thinking too much if it’s a bargain sealed box.
They list sealed in something I wanted and it’s not when I received it

You sure? My local Cex always ask if it's ok to open/break the seal anything new. Or you could open/break the seal yourself before handing it over.

    Yep.
I took a harddrive (one of the £60 cheap ones) in a year or so ago and was told they cannot take it as it was sealed with a bit of tape.
Also about 4 months ago I sold a few games and one was sealed and again was told it’s policy, they cannot be sold if sealed.
So now I just unseal anything I sell. (edited)

doesn't make any sense for CEX to buy sealed boxes as they could be chinese fakes inside a genuine looking box. seems like something doesn't add up unless they put the celephane on themselves because it was sold new but open box.

I ended up not going back cos things got too busy in the run up to Christmas and I figured I'd wait to see if there were any post-christmas deals.
