For those of you using OlduBil for Turkish Payments

Posted 2nd Oct 2023
It's advisable that you stop immediately as they've changed their T's & C's.

I'm trying to find the exact message, but basically they're saying that their virtual or "anonymous" cards can no longer be used on sites that do not have a "Trust Stamp", and you can see those sites here

guvendamgasi.org.tr/vie…php

It's advising people with funds in their accounts to use them by tonight before 10pm UK time as well. What this means in practicality, I don't know. I suppose it could easily mean accounts are closed or restricted.

So DO NOT transfer money in to OlduBil at the moment as you may well lose it. If you've verified your account with a Turkish number than you should be able to transfer it back out with an IBANN number but if you haven't, you need to find something to spend it on and quick ..

My Spotify sub is due in a couple of days so leaving a few months worth in there to see what happens... Have taken the rest out though. The card still works via UK Amazon so bought a gift card for the remaining balance.

Looks like oldibul are looking into passport checks to get past the anonymous card and allow usage

Don't know if you can see this but it reads "By the regulation issued by the Central Bank of Turkiye, anonymous cards can only be used on trust seal Turkish websites. We recommend to use your balance until tonight. We will keep you updated"

I’ve swiped the message away again but there’s a new one saying they want to let people continue using anonymous cards with “passport information”

I suppose it could feasibly mean that even if some people are still making transactions that they could still implement a requirement to get your account verified with a Turkish passport.

Thanks so much for the heads up. Counted every purchase in my email for from Xbox turkey store, counted transfers from Revulot to find out how much I have remaining and buying from the Xbox turky store now lol. Still works but going to spend it all...

Completely forgot to mention, used Wise to top up OlduBil yesterday with £20 quid and it appeared in the account this morning without any issues or any need to email them to remind them.

It does appear to be the case - for now - that existing subscriptions are unaffected by the changes.

Just had a message from the app saying "Money transfers are BACK!" that claims the "temporary issue" has now been resolved.

Tried to re-enter the OlduBil card details to my Spotify subs, same error coming through though.

I got the same message. I did do a transfer of £10 last week to test but no money has come through yet, I wonder if that will come through or if unverified user transfers from the UK will not work?

International money transfers to OlduBil have always been problematic, it is not advisable to do it, money can and does go missing. The only guaranteed way to work is via a card load from FUPS, the catch 22 being FUPS have locked out new non-Turkish people from signing up by requiring that a Turkish ID is uploaded.

I have a couple of Oldubil accounts that I topped up but havent used since September ...(pre clampdown)

After the recent changes....can anyone advise are these cards now restricted to the list of "safe sites" published by the Turkish Govt or will they still work with International sites like Spotify and Netflix still?

Ive had a read but Im still unclear...

    Thanks
