Amazon - payment declined

Posted 19th Oct 2023
I don't know if this has been discussed but payments have been declined by visa [according to my bank] because they are using an insecure channel for requesting payments ie Amazon EU sarl and not Amazon UK. Amazon Customer services say - just tell your bank to add so and so to their list - like I'm doing a shop... I feel like I've been on the phone all day - you tell your bank - you tell Amazon- I can do without this - I assume I am not the only person having these problems...what is the answer? Thanks for any help/suggestions.

I had this with my NatWest MasterCard. I was told by NatWest that Amazon doesn't use 2 factor authentication so they rejected the payment request. That then somehow got sorted.

A few months later, I had another issue and this time NatWest said it was because Amazon requested £0.00, which they did authorise. Amazon payment system is a bit ropey, particularly for items that aren't yet in stock. It is frustrating as Amazon is the retailer causing issues but they don't seem to be that worried as I guess most payments go through, so they don't really care about the rare ones that don't. Amazon CS is a bit of a joke. I realise that now that I have had to contact them a couple of times. They can't really sort out problems and don't seem to care. This company is getting too big for their boots

I had exactly the same issue around 6 months ago, at first i thought it was due to me always subscribing and save then cancelling but it started doing the same for every payment.
After several calls to amazon and Natest I finally got it working by removing all cards on my account and requesting amazon reset my 2 factor authroisation.

I have never personally heard of this and never had the same issue. Who is your current bank in question? Sounds like a security block from your bank to me, have you previously disputed an Amazon transaction? Maybe try deleting your card and adding it again on your Amazon account (could be the saved details are slightly incorrect).

I kept deleting my card and adding it. It didn't help but one day it did actually help, so yeah, OP, keep deleting your card and adding it again. It may help.

It's absoultely an Amazon issue - same game every month with them and only on S&S monthly issues - NEVER had a decline from Amazon from thousands of purchases for immediate delviery, BUT on S&S they keep putting it through as £0.00 for S&S and its been declined hundreds of times on various cards over years (getting worse more lately)

Does my head in - NEVER happened with any other retailer and it's without a shadow of doubt an Amazon issue. I just keep pushing it thorugh across several cards and eventually (maybe 4th/5th attempt it works)

I have started getting this recently but only on Subscribe & Save items, using the HSBC card saved against my account. "Normal" one-off purchases are not rejected in this way. So I just added a Revolut card to my account as well and that seems to be accepted for the S&S (edited)

I have had this with random S&S items for months now. Amazon said it's an issue with the bank and I had to call them. I had tried 4 different cards with 4 different banks. Was told by my bank exactly what mutley1 said. Told Amazon and they kept repeating that I needed to contact my bank or they could delete the item and I could try again. Told them that I wouldn't get the item at the S&S price then and they said that's all they could do. Most items eventually go through after me manually trying to process the payment several times over the day. A few don't go through at all.

4 months of S&S payments not made by Chase.

last month Amazon made me confirm payment of 0.00 in chase app for each item.

    Worked fine so far.

I've been getting this issue on try before you buy items. No matter what cards I try it won't go through but all normal transactions do.

Spook - I just had a Paypal payment refused - it went through fine as a credit card payment though...

I tried to pay a credit card bill off yesterday from a second bank account that I had never used before to pay my credit card. It got refused & the authourisation process was asking for a visa authorisation code. It said I had to contact my bank & get one.

I just wanted to pay a bill in my own name at my own address. Sometimes I had to open the banking app on my primary account to authorise the payment but this time was a point blank refusal.

I have this now and then but normally it sorts itself out. One mastercard wouldn't work but another would so I blamed Starling not Amazon. (edited)

Or buy gift cards from Cardyard and save 3%, using whatever card you wish,, then add the credit to your Amazon account
