Can't tax car oddly

Posted 15th Nov 2023
So, my mate bought a second hand car and it's been dropped off by the dealer.
It got insured at 7pm tonight.

Trying to tax it on the dvla using the V5C and he's met with the below message,

'Sorry we are unable to check your vehicle insurance details because you are taxing the vehicle as a newkeeper.

To tax your vehicle please take your proof ofinsurance, MOT and V5C or V5C/2 to a PostOffice® branch that deals with vehicle tax'

Car had the mot done the other day and it shows on the dvla.

Is it because the insurance probably not showing on the system yet?
I see it mentions about being a new keeper but I didnt have this problem when I got my car abit back

Whats worse is, he's got work at 5am tomorrow.
And the hire car he used has gone back.

Please help?

Thanks in advance

Tax at the post office. Next year's can be done online.

Are you in Northern Ireland by any chance? If not make sure you're using the new keeper supplement reference and not the v5 reference number. They're different. (edited)

No he's and it's the new keeper slip.

Quick google says CheckMID can take up to 48 hours for it to show, depending on insurer.
