My point of view is yes but I'm not convinced they have been here yet and we may never live long enough as the human race to see them here or to travel to them.

Definite alien, they're all weird around here!

Statistically, they must exist in some form or another - the sheer quantity of planets in the Universe means that they must - if you believe in the statistics, which I do.

Practically, we will never get to see them, they will never get to see us. Too far. Unless some form of non-conventional travel is discovered (wormholes, FTL travel) then the distances are just too great. Plus, why would a super-intelligent civilisation choose to visit us in particular when, if there are numerous planets with other forms of life in our infinite Universe, there will be others closer?

It would be marvellous to discover life of any variety, maybe in the seas on the moons of the middle gas giants of our Solar System. Who knows. I hope I live long enough to see man land on Mars.

There is a theory that there is another planet in our system that orbits the sun in a long polar plane rather than equitorial like Earth. Most of the time it is out of site to us but every few thousand years or so it comes close enough to earth to allow travel from them to us and thats why we take jumps in knowlage on a regular basis.

Oh the irony.

Google 'the drake equation'. Most credible boffins agree that when you put the numbers in it, its highly unlikely that we are alone in our own galaxy, let alone the universe.

Why is it irony to deliberately quote a misspelled word and then try to belittle him for doing so when it's not a mistake. Now that IS irony.

I'm not convinced they have been here either, but there is a very good chance considering the technologies and UFO's which our ancestors have described.

Considering the universe is over 13 billion years old and the possiblity that we are not the first intelligent life in it, that would give aliens a massive time advantage.

Maybe they didnt take over our planet for ethical reasons? I'm sure when space travel becomes common for humans we are not going to take over every planet we find which is capable of life... but we may still send 'messengers' to those planets and interact with the indigenous species. Theres also a good chance we will continue monitoring them to make sure they do not pose a threat.

I believe your talking about Vulcan, which was disproved many years ago, and not many scientists believed it was there to begin with.

I believe the fact there are so many habitable planets being found now, that easily life is abundant not only in the universe but right here in the Milky Way, what i do not believe is that any have ever visited us, there may well be a civilization though that is fully aware of planet earth and it holds life.

just as one day we will be able to see this kind of stuff with better telescopes..

From Wikipedia.

Vulcan was a small planet proposed to exist in an orbit between Mercury and the Sun. Attempting to explain peculiarities of Mercury's orbit, the 19th-century French mathematician Urbain Le Verrier hypothesized that they were the result of another planet, which he named "Vulcan".

A number of reputable investigators became involved in the search for Vulcan, but no such planet was ever found, and the peculiarities in Mercury's orbit have now been explained by Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity.[1] Searches of NASA's two STEREO spacecraft data have failed to detect any vulcanoid asteroids between Mercury and the Sun that might have accounted for claimed observations of Vulcan.[2] It is doubtful that there are any vulcanoids larger than 5.7 kilometres (3.5 mi) in diameter.[2] Other than Mercury, asteroid 2007 EB26 with a semi-major axis of 0.55 AU (82,000,000 km; 51,000,000 mi) has the smallest known semi-major axis of any known object orbiting the Sun.[3]

I saw a UFO once, still creeps me out to think about it. No lights in the sky stuff either, the thing was maybe 15 meters off the ground. You could see it was a machine.

It was about the size of a small car and made absolutely no sound at all. Disc shaped and sort of made up of two halves, It was also pulsing and changing colour. The bottom half would be red and the top half black then the colours would switch. The bottom half would become black and the top half red. The colours continued to switch every second as it moved. We were stood pretty much underneath the thing and walked along with it for a couple hundred yards, we stopped and it carried on at walking pace until it dipped over some trees.

I still think about it 20 years on, and talking about it still gives me the same uneasy feeling as I had standing there watching it. I couldn't say it was a spaceship, but I've seen nothing like it since.

Really? Where do we come from then? If you're referring to the fact that the matter we are made up from comes from stars, then that doesn't mean we are not from earth. Life evolved on earth, its not like life was just dumped here from space!

Our own existence is proof that life exists elsewhere.

Things I like about your post...
It starts asking about what said,
then you ask what im referring to,
then you get it incorrect with your statement,
then you are bang on the money with your final 7 words!

That IS exactly where we came from.

If you have a nosey online at the actual space science nerds thoughts and findings you will quickly discover that biological life even in its most basic forms originated from space, more specifically brought here from comets, meteors, asteroids.

Case closed.

Not quite case closed. As far as I have read, no one (apart from maybe you) thinks life arrived in the water supposedly carried to earth in comets.

i think if there are aliens out there then they can't be any more intelligent than we are as otherwise they would have found us by now.

if there are more intelligent species out there and they manage to find us then that will be a very sorry day for mankind as we will be taken over and treated like we treat other animals.
