Cheapest place to buy nuts?

Posted 2nd Jan 2022
I'm talking about food nuts before something else gets in your mind.
looking at Amazon 1kg of peeled pistachios is £20 which I think is expensive. Sainsbury's was expensive as well, I think I saw a 320g bag for £6.
is there a cheaper place to get nuts or is this the price I should expect to pay?

Try local Asian or Mid Eastern supermarkets.

They're eye-openers for the stuff they sell and really good prices (edited)

If you download the lidl plus App, there is a voucher (ends in 3 days on mine) for 15% off unsalted nuts...

If you're not in a rush for nuts, Lidl often do nut deals as part of their "super weekend" offers (e.g. 200g of almonds for £1.29 from 7-9 Jan 2022) otherwise you may want to try your local Home Bargains (if there is one close to you) as their prices don't seem to be listed online but they may be cheaper than other nuts you've found.

Asian shops. They sell in large quantities and are reasonably priced. For best quality you cannot go wrong with Fudco brand but local brands are cheaper.

What'd you want? Pistachio nuts, almond nuts, Brazil nuts?
Nah, three eighths of an inch.

Nuts is a very broad category covering a variety of items, from peanuts to almonds to pistachio. What are you specifically looking for and in what quantity?

The ones you weigh out yourself at Lidl. Seem a hit with people that munch on them as they walk round the store.

Pistachios are fairly expensive from what I've personally seen. Do you have any health food shops near you, as they may sell larger quantities at a cheaper price?

Most nuts really but the ones I'm after are pistachios, macadamia nuts, wallnuts and pecans. Also about 500g to 1kg

The only health shop is Holland and Barrett. Never been in there though. Are they cheaper? (edited)

Holland and Barrett is quite expensive usually, but I know they sometimes do a penny sale on certain items, so you buy one and get another for 1p. The health food shops I meant were more independent ones. I have no idea if prices were cheaper but I would assume so as they specialise in that sort of food.

I use a website called whole foods online, they also have a deal on every week (a placed an order a couple of weeks ago for nuts/seeds and spent £30 so delivery was free and recieved a 1KG bag of chia seeds.) I find some things are super cheap and some not so much so worth checking.

Have a look at Grape Tree - either one of their shops or online, not that they will necessarily be cheap.

Grape Tree, Amazon, and Costco would be the best places.

As others have suggested, check your local Asian / Middle Eastern shops. I am not sure how easy / cheap it would be to get macadamia and pecan as these are mostly consumed in the US.

Pistachio and macadamia are pretty expensive.

    You want a wholesale supplier.

We used to buy through suma but they've put their minimum order right up and you need an account.
currently £27/kg for raw pistachios vs £16/kg for roast/salted and £26/kg for macadamia.

I also used daily bread in northampton when I was based nearby.

I actually saw in my own eyes a weigh'n'save the other day, they were always cheap but you will have to search for a local one
