Smart thermostat that doesn’t rely on RF?

Posted 12th Jul 2023
Hi,

Anyone know of a smart thermostat to control my oil boiler which also works with smart trv’s but doesn’t communicate between a hub and thermostat via radio?

I had an issue in my previous home with a garage combi boiler my nest couldn’t communicate with in the kitchen. My new house is weirdly long and i need the thermostat upstairs but the boiler is again in the garage.

i think Drayton wiser has a repeater i can buy to help but is there anything on the market which communicates purely over my home network to avoid this hassle?

 Thanks

Shelly smart TRVs communicate on your home network. I've never used them, or the app.

Heat Genius and Drayton both use smart plugs that improve signal between devices.

Thanks for the reply. Never heard of Shelly before, I’ll take at it and the heat genius.

I thought with nest you could repeat.
Tado runs its own wifi network so possibly no good for you.

They do they are Zwave based I think which create a mesh network. They use their own private network but it's still zwave.
