The Eletta does make fine Coffee and up to the job in a busy showroom providing it is serviced annually, ours has produced over 10k cups of coffee over the past 4 years and still does not miss a beat. However having recently bought a cheaper 2800 for the home I must say it has a better frother than the auto crema on the Eletta and the coffee if not quite as good is still lovely and unless you taste side by side would be hard to tell the difference, certainly punches above its weight at £200 when compared to the £850 we paid for the Eletta almost 5 years ago. The Eletta if you can afford it is a great great machine, but when compared to other Delonghi models at a quarter the price, it's hard to justify the extra expense unless money is no object.

I've had several ESAM 4200 models and hated the coffee they produced - really wasn't impressed at all. Then got several more expensive ECAM 23.420 models which were noticeably better at producing coffee but the grinder was rubbish - had it on finest setting and it was still not fine enough. Then spent more and got an Eletta Cappuccino which is what I'm using at the moment - this makes good coffee and is noticeably better at making coffee than the other two cheaper models. The grinder is also significantly better. The espresso it makes is definitely better but also it has a function where it can make long/american filter style coffee using a lower pressure which is actually really cool. Out of all three machines, it's the only one I've liked.

I'm looking for a coffee machine myself, but I dunno how well those pumps work? Seems milk frothers are becoming more popular but the cheapest of those is £350 if you want bean to cup, it's crazy how much coffee machines are! Keep posting though, hopefully one of use comes across a big bargain!
Original Poster
The Argos one is a good price, I believe the co-op one I posted is a later model. No doubt they both make the same coffee.
I don't think co-op or the Argos prices are amazing... I have an older delonghi bean to cup that I got for £200 on Amazon a couple of years ago. It's still going strong and the coffee is brilliant. I was looking at buying one as a present and this is the best deal I could find just now.

This is cheaper on Argos the module number seems slightly off but they look like the exact same machine!

£269.99 argos.co.uk/pro…605
These are very easy to use machines that require very little cleaning/maintenance. The machine does an automatic rinse as it turns on and as it turns off, which just consists of releasing hot water (~100 ml) through the coffee spout into the tray reservoir. If you don't catch the rinse in a cup then you'll have to empty the tray reservoir every couple of days. You'll also have to perform a descale procedure every couple of months with the descale reagent but this is straight forward just follow the instructions in the handbook (might be more frequent if you have hard water in your area- but there is a water testing strip that comes in the welcome pack- so you can test your water hardness). As mentioned earlier, the milk attachment needs to be cleaned after each time you use it for frothing by running it under the tap for a few seconds.
We have had a similar Delonghi Bean to Cup machine for three years (it counts the number of coffees it makes - current count is 5302) and it has been hassle-free. Just recently, pulled out the pressing unit and gave it a quick clean with a brush, which was really easy. If you are an avid coffee drinker then this unit is as handy as they come. Really worth-while if you consider the time and hassle it saves.
rossysaurus4 h, 10 m ago

The machine will rinse itself whenever you turn it on or off but so long …The machine will rinse itself whenever you turn it on or off but so long as you have a "sacrificial cup" under the spout to catch all the rinse rather than filling the drip tray it's not so bad. The milk attachment should be cleaned after every use but it is easy to do - Pull the silver sleeve off then pull the black rubber nozzle off and rinse both parts under the tap then replace. Takes 30 seconds.

Indeed very easy to clean the milk spout is the only thing you really have to take apart but as you said 30 secs

Though, machines that are able to push out a higher amount of pressure can, in some cases, help the user brew better espresso than that of a machine only able to push 9 bars.It is fair to assume that many machines advertising a higher bar pressure only produce a low amount of bar when the machine is actually in use. Cheaper machines will also deteriorate more quickly and the bar pressure will drop over time as components wear out.[Image] It is more important to be competent with a 9 bar espresso machine than to not use a 15 bar machine properly. The idea of adding more bars of pressure to espresso machines somewhat hales from the “bigger is better” mentality, tricking consumers into paying more for something that’s not necessarily needed. For the most part, 7-9 bars of pressure is considered the sweet spot for pump driven espresso machines, which use a pump to force water through the grounds. Pump driven machines, as well as rotary ones, are known to be much better than those that brew using steam, known as steam driven. An example of a steam driven espresso machine would be the kind sitting on store shelves that seem to cost an unusually low amount when compared to other espresso machines. These machines use a broiler inside that heats water, and in turn builds steam pressure, which is pushed through the bed of coffee grounds by use of its own force. With the optimal brewing temperature being 200 degrees Fahrenheit (93.3 degrees Celsius), and the point at which water turn being hotter than that, the resulting coffee will taste burnt and over-extracted.Steaming milk with these machines can also be a bit of a gamble. Not because the steam wand is lacking power, but because the transition from espresso to steaming milk, or vise versa, can take quite a while. With a pump or rotary driven espresso machine, this is not the case. The water inside is heated with either a broiler, or heat exchanger, to the optimal temperature. Once that temperature is reached, it is pumped through with great force with the rotary motor or pump, pulling perfect espresso shots in the process.Overall, pump espresso machines, as well as rotary ones, are able to brew much better espresso than steam driven ones, and perfect espresso can be brewed with as little as 8 bars of pressure.

On the point of frothing milk I actually find the best method is have a 1 pint plastic carton of whole milk which if you shake up and down for about a minute it froths up nice and then put in required amount in a mug, then microwave for about 10 to 15 seconds then put under espresso machine for coffee

It promptly went back up to 500+ minutes later, so was lucky to snag one for 399. This price is crazy good.It was voted HOT around prime day when currys sold it for around £450 (and the lower model for briefly around £320, then shortly after £350).So this is an absolute steal. It doesn't need any configuration you just press what you want in the easy menu. Personally I just use the hot water attachment and add milk myself, but for the odd latte you just press... 'latte'... and that's it. Although I find it easier to just make a normal coffee then add the frothy milk cos you can control the amount better.Takes 2 seconds to fill up the water thing, no complaints there. People having a moan over nothing. This machine is damn good if you ask me.

You missed this then! Which as far as I can tell stayed that low until this new code came out.

You are right though up until then it hadn't been as low as far as I could find for such a period of time - I think people just group all the delonghi models together and class them as one!

I got it on Amazon for £369 last month

I know it was that price I missed it.

Hmm. I went for krups 8108, as it was slightly cheaper and this one I thought was older. I did not realise it had a frother, and only debenhams only sold it. Now John Lewis sells it. It is a bit older 2011 compared to 2014 but it has an auto frother. Not sure if I am kicking myself or not. Not used mine yet as it's a present to myself.
I got this machine for I think the same price from Amazon is a good machine in my opinion I don't regret the purchase.. don't know of a more recent model with frother for less... And from what I have seen Expresso machines only refresh every 10 years
I had a look at this machine and it's a really old model. I went with a more recent model for less. Just my opinion

Great machine and makes effortlessly good coffee, just make sure you use fresh beans as mentioned
Only issue regarding these machines is the milk is far too cold , just need to put something in the tube end that’s placed in the milk ( I use a folded piece of a drinking straw )
It slows the flow of milk making it far hotter

That’s what I do. I also use fresh beans from a local roaster it’s not really a problem they are strong but would just like it to be a bit more I do drink a lot of coffee when I’m out so I’m unfairly comparing it to a pro machine.
This was £499 for about a week around Black Friday with an additional code for £50 off taking it to £449. Hopefully it’ll come back down for Christmas sales?
My husband just purchased the De’Longhi PrimaDonna machine. Hopefully as good as it’s said to be.

Hi which one would u recommend thanks

Depend what you after.
Im using bosh vero. Water tank is removable and on the side, not on the back of machine.
And depending on milk throttle you after: some people like to use throttle and bubble milk in the cup and then pour it into coffee cup, some machines got separated milk tank /canister - which i think not really good if you making only 1 or 2 cups of coffee and another ones had pipe that you stick into milk bottle and it give you throttled milk into cup or just flat hot milk, it what im using, i do like it. Choice is yours.
