Christmas Eve for us is always a morning trip to the cinema for me and my …Christmas Eve for us is always a morning trip to the cinema for me and my monsters (now 10 and 13) as their dad has to work Christmas Eve until about 8pm and I find it a very long day at home otherwise. The. We have dinner out or a picnic by the canal if it is nice. We walk into the town (can leave our car in the cinema car park for free - added bonus!) and pick up any naughty treats for Christmas Eve tea. Next is a drive to Grandad's to say merry Christmas on the way home. In the evening we watch a Christmas film and have an easy tea (even contemplating takeaway this year). Then my favourite part. My partner buys me a memory jar every Christmas and we open it up every Christmas Eve and have a good giggle at all the memories we've all made. In the new year I glue them into a book and it's a lovely thing to look back on.Stockings in our house are left outside bedroom doors as my son never liked the idea of Santa coming into his bedroom. Makes stocking filling that bit easier!

What a truely lovely idea, the memory box and following it up in the book. Never forget memories made.

It's normally too expensive for us to manage fun days out, as the costs soon add up. Gifts like this give a fab shared experience for all the family.

That's the same here, we try to save a little every month to have a family day out somewhere, now we usually get "day out gift" from family we can spend what we've saved on little treats when we're there cos there's always something the kids want at the gift stores! As someone else on here said, it's the memories being made too that will not be forgotten and when the kids look back they can remember the fun we had. .....enough, I'm getting teary now lol

I’m not a parent but I have 8 Brothers and Sisters I’m the only parent less one Xmas has always been a bloody nightmare the kids are all grown up now and have started Procreating I appreciate little gifts I’m not difficult but I don’t like celebrity perfumes lol Now we have a car I guess experience days would be more of an option now My Mum loves to go to see bands especially Motown Stuff definitely the best gifts.Making Memories is Priceless .

I think its a great idea what they do, its obviously easier than buying 4 different presents and we really enjoy spending a day out together as a family (which we dont always get chance to do). I have started doing the same thing for my sister in law and her family. You can often get good deals (sometimes half price) on family tickets if you do a little hukd/google search before booking. Hope this is helpful to someone

That's a fab idea!... it's the gift of precious family memories that will last a lifetime. We was given a meerkat experience at a zoo a few years back and we all loved it & still talk about it together. I also like the idea of a family photo shoot voucher (there's always plenty on Groupon) I recently bought my sister (who is a huge curry fan but always orders them in or dines in restaurants) a short course on Indian cooking which she loved and now saves her hard earned cash by making her favourites at home.

Pretentious arty-farts rubbish - do you eat it or wear it?

i do both

Word of warning this place is not unlike any other west end restaurant. I went here on the Time Out offer earlier this year and they charged extra for everything they could. All sides are £5 and even water is charged. Also they forgot to apply the offer and charged us the menu price first of all and denied all knowledge of booking the offer with me. despite this I liked the restaurant - heat

OP means well but these players are so bad. Vinyl shredder would be a better description.

Due to the lack of a counterweight, the arm basically labours on your records grinding into the grooves.

For nostalgia and the odd cheap record from the charity shop, these are no problem, for the collector and enthusiast, these are a bad place to start.

Because the needle is so blunt, only to top part of the groove had been damaged, and the lower parts were still good enough to give a very acceptable experience.Mind you, the cartridge I was using currently costs over £600 to get a re-tip, and nearly triple that to buy new.The k-tels wouldnt sound any better; they compressed the music too much to squeeze more onto each LP, but the TotP albums probably would.

I actually sold all my vinyl and went CD, heady days of marantz cd54, mission Cyrus, tannoy mercury. Happy days.

Love to go back to vinyl one day
