Haven't you heard of Little boy and Fat man ?

Blurigard

I bought one of these for my son at Christmas, and it's had a few issues with overheating. Nothing to worry about if you can undervolt and adjust the fan-curve yourself. But something to be aware of. Having a decent case design is also quite important for extended sessions. Pretty fast card though and this is about the right price.

somerandomguy123

An efficient card this is not, but 200w is nothing extraordinary for gpus nowadays

Kinio

This card is hot but what's more important it is very power hunger... Red dragon version i had could draw over 200w at full load. Also it is recommended to have at least 550W psu

KingSuns

I've been using fan curves... pretty much ramping up very high above normal load before you play any intense games... got fed up of Witcher 3 crashing and now it only happens occasionally.

It was not my intention to boast and I'm glad you're satisfied, I however was not. The RX 580 performs much better on paper than in real life. I use my GPU for simulation work, AI modelling, 3D design, rendering, and gaming, amongst other things. In all these areas, the RX 580 performed much worse than my previous GTX 980. I've no brand preference, and I love a bargain as much, if not more than the next person, but this is not a bargain. The reviews on Amazon will give you some indication of that. In my opinion, cheap hardware is a false economy.

booja

Buy cheap buy twice doesn't really make sense in this market. It makes sense to buy at a certain price point and buy twice over a couple of years to ensure performance increases with advances. Either way you were complaining about a £150 gpu and boasting about buying a £400 gpu instead. It seems you would have been happy with a rx580 but spent 2.5 times more on something to do the same job. Not much of a bargain to me. - someone who is very satisfied with their rx 580.

foo25

My point being - buy cheap, buy twice. The RX 580 should've been on par with my GTX 980. As for the Punto, I owned one of those too once, and what a POS that was! So instead, I saved my pennies and now daily drive a 4 year old 450 HP competition spec Subaru (y)

booja

Similar to how I bought a Fiat Punto that had issues with it's wiring, transmission etc. returned and replaced with a Ferrari 812 . Far superior...

mo22a

Yes , sorry forgot to mention I also under volted. No issues with the card since I made these changes fingers crossed.

Yeah, the way he was wording things, even if he wasn't straight wrong, was just dishonest.

ando

I wanted to call him out when I commented, but he seems clueless which is clearly obvious, couldn't be bothered replying, was more concerned about the bad "advice" he's giving people

Nate1492

Someone asked you how does this compare to the 980ti and you said 'It was a 25% increase'. Then you edited your comment to be correct, you also said the 590 can 'do 4k'. I would not recommend this card for 4k games to anyone, and suggesting that '4k monitor output' is what you meant is silly, because even a very low end card can do that.

Rhythmeister

I'm enjoying a 1070Ti too but it's not the night and day upgrade from a 1060 6GB I thought it was going to be even that was a great card for the money, still laughs at everything maxed out at 1080p mind 8)

I appreciate your help too

Can anyone recommend me a desktop pc/suitable website where I could find what I am looking for? I am not clued up on all of the parts like some of you, but after a fast pc (ideally AMD Ryzen processor), at least 8gb ram (possibly 16gb) - not sure on other stuff but main useage will be office, multiple internet tabs, multiple docs/spreadsheets, left on virtually 24/7, hooked up to 2/3 monitors. Ideally looking to spend about £500, up to £600 possibly. Whilst I don't plan to use for gaming wanting excellent speeds/hopefully last a few years. Thanks for any assistance. 🍻

I almost ordered that same bundle and went with CCL for a similar bundle but just 3600 instead of 3600x for a little bit less! Sounds like I made the right call (shock)

zochus15

Well as for the card I don't know but a lot of people are slaying AWD-IT therefore I'd throw my opinion on them. Myself however I can't tell a bad word about them. Two weeks ago I've ordered Asus B450 micro ATX motherboard from them and XPG Spectrix D60G ram. They were two separate orders and both have arrived safely packaged and on time despite there being a bank Holiday weekend and ram order not going through correctly I've managed to get in touch with them and resolve the issue straight away. Personally I can recommend them and their services. Ah and they were the best on price as well

plewis00

I have to agree here - they look great but I’ve seen so many XFX cards just go wrong for no reason at all, Sapphire and Powercolor have been the best cards I’ve had, taken lots of gaming and OC abuse with not so much as a failed fan.

pablon1970

This company terrible! I orederd a B450 motherboard with Ryzen 3600x chip and 16GB of DDR4 ram the parcel was late and poorly packaged the Ram was missing and i was also was suppose to get Resident evil 3 for free with the motherboard promotion again this was missing, the communication was woeful and when i did get a reply they asked my to send pictures of what was sent, no idea why! when i asked about the free game they said they was still waiting for them to come in and would send it when in stock. This package was ordered on the 20th of April and i have still not recived the game but they still advertising the promotion. I did eventually receive a refund for the missing RAM. DO NOT TRUST THIS SHABBY COMPANY. ps i still want my free game

Em-Pop

Awful company selling an old tech video card made by one of the worst vendors. Avoid! It’s a bad time buy new at the moment but prices will come down. Buy used or be patient.

@sarden84 hello sarden84, stupid questions. How do I load windows 10 on my new desktop. I got the little striker one the one you said. I assume there’s no operation system on it. I didn’t get the wi fi card as I have a wired connection. Never had a new desktop without windows on it. Sorry for stupid q

stmac25

@sarden84 - thanks for all the really useful information on here and other posts; you’re a real asset to HUKD! We’re looking to get our son a gaming pc around the £500-£600 mark and I wondered if you still recommend the one linked to above from AWD IT with 1TB storage and WiFi added or if you had anything else you thought was better in that price range? Don’t think he plays anything too demanding graphic wise but would be good to future proof a bit in case he does (could probably go an extra £50 on budget). Thanks a tonne for any help you can give - I get a bit lost with all the options out there and combos :D (sorry, forgot to say our son loves the RGB look case In the AWD link)

splendideyetorture

All I want is a PC that will play Half-Life: Alyx, which in turn will allow me to play it on a Quest.
