The winner and a guest will stay for two nights, half-board, at the Cary Arms & Spa, an award-winning boutique hotel on Babbacombe Beach in south Devon. They’ll sleep in one of the luxurious new Beach Suites, where the bedroom and the lounge open on to a large sun deck, just above the water’s edge. They’ll enjoy a 50-minute treatment each in the hotel’s boutique spa, and a two-hour trip on a wooden yacht or — if the weather intervenes — a cream tea is also included.
Other activities on offer at the Cary Arms include sea kayaking, mackerel fishing and paddleboarding — plus, of course, the chance to soak up the hotel’s seaside setting and enjoy the attentive service and locally sourced food. Brixham scallops, pan-seared squid and West Country lamb all feature on the dinner menu.
The prize must be taken between January 2 and June 30, 2021, subject to availability and excluding bank holidays, school holidays and any special events.
The winner and up to five guests will enjoy a three-night self-catering break at Undercastle Cottage, a secluded, half-timbered thatched house on the banks of the Hampshire Avon in the New Forest.
Set down a private track with no other houses in sight, this luxury cottage is backed by trees and has half a mile of exclusive fishing rights on a river famed for its barbel, chub, pike and trout.
Two of the bedrooms are in the main house, one more is across the patio in the airy fishing lodge and there’s an open fire in the living room to keep things toasty in colder weather.
Not surprisingly, there’s plenty of wildlife to watch out for. New Forest ponies and deer often wander by, and if you’re quiet, you may see otters in the river.
The prize must be taken between November 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021, subject to availability, and excluding Valentine’s Day weekend as well as December 19 to January 3.
