cant answer fully but it says "Providing a 36-degree beam angle, this bulb will give the same output as a halogen, in a natural, neutral white colour, this bulb is ideal for a more contemporary lighting effect, ideal for bathrooms and kitchens. It provides a clean, modern, slightly more blueish coloured white."

No, uses these batteries https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5x-GP-A23-12V-Alkanline-Batteries-MN21-23A-LRV08-K23A-E23-Door-Bell-Chime-Ligher-/300469931976

Darkraiser

Do they use AAA batteries?

mickjack

They have a 2 position spring loaded switch in the bent arm part, that meets the door and is off until door is open. Light is a bit directional (like using a fixed torch in the cupboard) so don't know how that will look under a cupboard or how you would switch on/off. As a btb, I think it would be a better design if the switch part was part of the body not on a bent arm - but I suppose that's part of the hinge mounting. Well made and good enough light.

timscott38

I had the same problem, in the end I used 3m sticky pads to fix mine to a hinge last week, seems to be working quite well so far.

snapdragon

I have a bag full of these and they don't fit anything apart from a bathroom cabinet and even that's a bit of a botch. The screws of the hinges are recessed and won't come out enough to screw through the plastic base of the light and if they did would make the hinge insecure. If I try another, I will just fit to the wood with self-tapping screws.

I'm still waiting for my last order from them to arrive (dispatched 2 weeks ago)

barneyonion

Since its a bendy item you would think it would be able to stand up to some bending if you catch my drift (lol) . Only works now if bent at a certain angle. The cable inside must have a break in it.

voodooboard

The ones you have a probably fake. They're widely counterfeited. I have a couple of genuine ones and while im sure you could break them if you try, I definitely wouldn't say they break 'easily'. These ones are very possibly fake also.

matt020295

Thank you! I’ve bought one for my sister to use at night.

idontwannabeyouanymore

Doesn’t come with a motion sensor, though that functionality can sort of be achieved using GPS on the Hue app, so when you arrive home lights would turn on.

Don't you love how a bulb knows it's done 2000 hours like it say on the box and blows, we had 100's at work and most went in order. The kitchen down lighters in our kitchen are r50 ses or old type mini spot lights, only LED's I could get to fit are from Home Bargains. I love taking them back if they've blow within 12 month cover to be swapped. It's an electronic item not a bulb.

blueincubus

Thanks, no failures in 2 years is v impressive I'll give them a look.

zchari5

Phillips are good. LEDs were originally marketed as lasting over a decade but the cheap one's from ebay China seem to only last at most a few months

fatabelly

Two for a quid in Pounland... no brainer really imho ;)

Alfresco

These are 2700 Kelvin, which i find far too yellow for most lighting. Nice colour for reading lamps or anywhere you want a warm light. It does depends what you want but i find 4000-4500k is the best "daylight" colour for general lighting. Anything higher is too blue anything lower is too yellow.

Price has gone up now and 3 for 2 offer looks like it’s finished

dvs

The dimmers can be programmed to control two rooms and five scenes so depending on your setup and what you require, you might be able to have one dimmer downstairs and one upstairs.

arjun311

Another issue for me is for the hallway I would need 4 dimmers (2 downstairs and 2 upstairs)

dvs

I bought a similar device which holds one dimmer over an existing light switch. The material was printed with a 3D printer so wasn't the same as normal plastic switch and the magnet wasn't particularly strong. The item you spotted might be different though. I'm surprised Philips hasn't realised that people may not want two light switches. It would be good if they invented a replacement switch which can be used manually as well as wirelessly.

dvs

I ordered online for collection. When I went to the store they said that had to process it differently but they allowed the order to go through. As others have suggested, the price reduction was genuine but it wasn't meant to be used with the 3 for 2 offer.

What is the shelf life on these? I have over 50 GU10s in the house installed by the former OCD owner who prided himself on uniformity. So have switched out all the non-dimmable circuits with a variety of Ikea, Wickes, Home Bargains, Philips and Screwfix ones in the last year... so hoping that they won't need replacing in the next 2 years at least. And even then, I would hope some of them would go the course and last longer than that before needing replacing?

Put it in a place thats dark that you can't run a light. Like under the stairs, in the back of a deep cupboard or even deep in the back of my vast and empty head.

Going out on a limb here, but they might be good as a fill light for an amateur photographer or Twitch streamer?

spockie

So you look for the switch in the dark and immediately get blinded when switched on. I rather have one with proximity sensor.

They are very bright and self adhesive stickers on back. I was thinking of putting on in my bathroom low enough so my 4yr old can go to toilet by herself as she is too small to reach the light herself
