That one’s really nice too.

It's decent at £12, but not worth the original £28.99 price !

Thanks, i bought it, although there is another one on offer for 10.99 (with promo) i was tempted to buy...

I got this last time it was on offer at this price, its a nice lamp and doubles as a headphone stand for me too. I only wish the touch buttons were backlit slightly as you cannot see them at all until the light is actually switched on.

OSRAM Smart Outdoor LED Strip - £37.09 @ Amazon
Found 17th FebFound 17th Feb
Seems like a great price was looking for a charioteer version of the hire outdoor and these look great.
Get dealGet deal

The led part is definitely 4.88m long but power part is pretty short at around 2m so will need an extension for most applications, just opened mine up and is great for the cost!

Yeah it sucks when they bunch unrelated reviews

That’s probably for a different osram product. In the reviews section, select filter, select outdoor flex, and then you will see reviews if there are any for the outdoor version in this deal. If you don’t do this, the reviews section have review entries pertaining to every product listed in the product drop down options box from the main page. Plus ones that are no longer in that drop down box. I find myself having to do this quite often on amazon.

That's a lot of money for a 1.8m strip of lights, I recently bought these and they are superb -

The hk in the name means this is for Apple Home kit. The zigbee version is a different price.

Cheers, always up for tips! I do want to extend, but bit by bit, because it seems like it can get expensive. Home automation is neat but at the end of the day I can just press the button to turn things on instead, so no rush, and I think a lot of it can probably be hacked together on the cheap too. :)

Nice. If you ever add motion sensors and want everything to happen in real time instantly without any delays, have a look at Hubitat Elevation. It’s a pretty nice bit of kit. It wipes the floor with Samsung SmartThings

Maybe, the app does have a nice day/dusk control in it. I wanted node-red just for the sake of hacking a solution together, it's more fun that way and certainly more flexible. The app might be limited to 4 steps only, it may not be able to do the initial pure red also, as in I think the implementation is intended for the day/dusk bulb so doesn't do much more that what's offered in that bulb,

Can’t you just do all that in the LIFX app using “Day & Dusk” to go through the spectrum you want and brightness you want?

Mini multicolour. Using node-red, I have it start dim red, then transtion to warm white over 15 mins, then to daylight white (over 15m), then up the brightness (over 90m). I think the mini dusk would be fine if you don't want the initial red, it's just the initial red is a bit softer than the 1% brightness warm white.

just a warning. I bought a similar aukey one (looks exactly like the alarm clock version but without the add ons) and within two months the battery wouldn't last more than a hour off charge, and wouldn't get to full brightness off charge.

High Vision Reading Lamp - £19.99 instore / £22.94 delivered at Aldi
Found 10th FebFound 10th Feb
Seems to get good reviews and the next cheapest is £33 on Amazon.

LED lamps can’t compare to fluorescent in terms of colour rendering index as they often exaggerate the blue light of the spectrum. I agree LED is a winner in terms of length of service and energy effiency, but fluorescent it the way to go for quality of light.

Oh, thanks for taking the time. This looks ideal, and is a great price. My Dad's eyesight is getting pretty bad for reading and this might help, but this will also be good for myself for hobby work as well. Cheers, for that!

@Blurigard If you're looking at a lamp for work, not just reading (the item description on this post says for reading, hobbies and close work), then maybe something like this one would do? I use this one myself for close up work.

Not specifically, but if you prefer a white 'daylight' light from a lamp, then try and match the colour temperature of around 6,500k. Any number much lower than that will render a yellowish 'warm' light. All I can suggest is look at Ikea and Argos for ideas.

Good insight. Am looking for an led on for me old dad. Can you recommend one? At a reasonable price

In my experience these are a bit of a lucky dip, I've purchased a few used in the past from Amazon Warehouse. Half of them were faulty and one was just a normal LED light bulb. Check them carefully and be prepared for returns.

Serial number and hub update sorted mine out to, thanks again OP

Ordered 6 'Like New' bulbs that arrived yesterday and all seem to be genuine. Only had a bit of trouble connecting 2 of the bulbs to the app in a part of the house where WiFi is weak but connecting them by entering their serial number sorted it.

All-New Echo Show (2nd Gen), Black + Philips Hue White Bulb E27 - £189.99 @ Amazon
Found 7th FebFound 7th Feb
All-New Echo Show (2nd Gen), Black + Philips Hue White Bulb E27 for £189.99? It seems to be a good price

I got an echo show for Christmas off Hubby and I love it. You can watch any prime video content plus it acts as a digital radio. I can get the kids up in a morning by dropping into their echo dots. Its great for recipes etc. The only issue I have is that my Alexa is a little bit hard of hearing and it can take a couple of times requesting things for the deaf old bat to get the idea and do what I want. but overall I love it and whilst it is expensive I think its worth it

If you’re just interested in having one Show and like to wheel and the 2 pack with 2 bulbs and then sell the extra show and bulbs, ....could get the Show down to £150ish

So what are you looking for...just a screen? Good sound? Give us a clue and I’ll give an opinion 😁

This or echo spot I don’t need a big display really

Not easily sadly...

They have them for £10 at Wickes, if that's closer for anyone.

These would be rated around 35-40w when comparing against Halogen. Most 50w equivalent led lamps would need to be at least 470 lumens. Good price for a quality brand.

Good deal for Philips genuine bulbs..

These wont be as bright as halogen GU10's 50 watt (+/-450 lumens) equivalent, but I don't think they will be very disappointing(355 lumens) considering the price, and the fact that they are leds only using less than a 10th of the power. (Lumens is light output). Philips is a good, reliable brand in my experience as an electrician. I hope this helps.

Just goto screw fix , 10 for £10-11 of same type/rating

Thanks again OP. Great little lights, easy to attach to wall with 3M tape. Looks brill and saves me faffing with the main light which could interfere with my little lad as he sleeps with door slightly open.

I have the three variants, great little lights, have wired the 4 cell one to a usb charger, save keep messing about with batteries
