I don't know, it was a work chair, very rare I'm actually in the office these days. I think they were all the same size though so presumably regular.

i got one about 4 months ago from ebay (about £300). it was ok, build quality was great, however, i have a boney butt and over time found it less comfortable so i have sold it (got my money back and then a little) and have "upgraded" to a Steelcase Leap v2... its SOOOooo much more comfortable for me and its build like a tank!

Had one at a place I used to work, it made the backs of my thighs go numb 👎 I discovered later that is a relatively common problem, especially with using the wrong size Aeron.

Ideally go somewhere to try them out and get proper professional fitting advice so you don't end up the wrong size. I absolutely would not drop the kind of money these chairs cost, even a refurb, without being sure of the fit and comfort. There are plenty of other models and brands to choose from if the Aeron isn't right for you.

I'm actually selling one on ebay for £700, but I wouldn't recommend them. I'm 6'3" and it just doesn't work for me.

    Can you recommend a seller?

Unfortunately not, I found mine on gumtree, it was just a guy who had got some stock from an office clearance i think. Facebook Marketplace can be another good place to keep an eye on depending on where in the world you are. Ebay is a last resort I'd say.

I'm not keen on them either and I'm 6' 2", very happy with my Humanscale Freedom though

A lot of people seem to love the Aerons, wonder if the design is optimised for shorter people? (edited)

6'2" here and absolutely love it. Paid 320 quid locally and would do it again in a heartbeat.

You can buy new spindles to raise the height but it was the soft seat and general lack of support that I found exacerbated by back problems. It was a surprise as they are meant to be good in that regard.

The height was fine, for me I just found them uncomfortable no mater how much I adjusted the seat and the back.

Sounds like you had the same situation as me - I was too young and ignorant to question the chair I was given, and everybody had the same. Live and learn...

The Steelcase chairs do seem to be popular with people moving on from Herman Miller. I think I'd want to try these in person vs Humanscale, and maybe an alternative Herman Miller that isn't the Aeron. (edited)

Is the chair based on height and size? I am looking to get a refurb too.

I bought an HM chair new for my office, but went to the showroom in Holborn to be "fitted" first. They don't actually sell the chairs there. If you're in or close to London I would say it's worthwhile. I was originally going to go for the Aeron, it being the most popular. But because of my height I found the Embody a far more comfortable fit. 3 years on I'm very happy with it, and looking to buy a second one for home.
