As hi viz as possible backpack recommendations

Posted 4th Aug 2023
Hi all,

I am kindly requesting your pearls of recommendation from you knowledgeable peeps about a ~ 30 litre mens' backpack that is as high viz as possible (as much reflective surface as possible) and that has internal pockets.

I've had enough of my pro Viz that has seen better days now that the zips on it have fallen apart. They were supposed to be waterproof zips so not sure I can get those repaired in today's throwaway culture:

Would you consider a waterproof cover? I have one of these, as it seems to have the right mix of fluo/reflective: btrsports.co.uk/col…nds

I also have their Reflective Jacket, because it was a good mix for day/night.

Good shout! Many thanks for mentioning. What is the build quality like?

Get a large hi-viz vest, thread the bag straps through it, then put the bag on.

I presume this is for cycling. I'm not sure about fully hi-viz material for cycling, as during the day it's grey: you'll be camouflaged in an urban environment! I usually go for red* gear for cycling, preferably with a bit of hi-viz banding on it for when it's night.

(*though I read that orange is the best all-rounder for visibility, since yellow blends in when in a green, rural environment. Red is my compromise) (edited)

Yes it is for cycling. Well the fully reflective has been useful so far because when I cycle to work it's at the crack of dawn, and return at night time.

    Build quality is very good.
Been using mine for a couple of years cycling to work and it's waterproof, so keeps my laptop backpack dry, as long as I keep the velcro straps tight.

Maybe put reflective tape on a standard backpack?

Potentially, but how easy does it peel off? Would prefer it to be able to take on a bit of rain.

Have you considered something like this.?
A cover for an existing backpack?

I have, but prefer not having the cover as those things have fallen off in the past

Osprey nebula - bought for this exact reason.

Which specific nebula model please? Upon googling it, there's a lot out there that doesn't look reflective
