My goodness this is a deal. I am in the market for a screen with G-Sync. Busy building a PC to play games and edit my 4k drone footage which I will downscale to 1080P. G-Sync 4k monitors are a little out of price range considering I have just spend £1.3k on the PC.

What do you guys think about getting this screen for now?

did you get your nvidia card to 75hz, as i have a gtx 980 ti, card.
also to add unlike.most monitors, this dims the LEDs via DC current control rather than pwm , some people are sensitive to this. buttons are hidden at the bottom like most monitors and are a pain in the **** .. like most monitors...
otherwise a lovely monitor.
decodes audio via hdmi and DP. decodes ac3 and DTS.

adaptive sync is only of the freesync variety, better for AMD users ... I have an nvidia card, I just use vsync as normal. none of the newer adaptive type modes nvidia introduced worked for me on this monitor (I have a 10 series card)

Haha true
misa426

Why do the reviews say no HDMI?

It's all in the product code: the "K222HQL" does not have HDMI, but the "K222HQLbid" does alongside all the other ports too.

We've got two boxed units (both brand new, but one opened) that we keep meaning to sell - not because there's anything wrong with them (far from, actually), but because they came bundled with the Acer Revo One RL85 package from Sainsburys over the summer, and we've already got a 27" set-up. I guess this Amazon price means we'll be selling them for even less now!
200cd/m is quite dim. My laptop has 500cd/m.

3 years ago I grabbed same spec monitor for my nephew while building pc for him from my old parts. Even then it was £60 Everything went on max 45-60fps with HD7770 Ghz edition (grabbed it for £58 from pc world, deal seen on hukd btw). Anyway bought myself 27" 1440p ips monitor from south Korea I'm still using with my gtx970, gave him my 24" 1080p benq. Now it struggles a bit. Guess I know Christmas present gonna be GPU :-). Anyway not a deal, just grab what's cheapest who is on budget :-)
Unless you are on a serious budget grab a 24" for £85 its so much nicer to use..

What an empty response. Contains no information or points, just a … What an empty response. Contains no information or points, just a personal attack. Not surprising seeing as you don't know what you're talking about and you've been found out.

Ok I'll bite, here are some points for you to dismiss:

1. Why am I only sat a few feet away from it? There are plenty of occasions when I like to sit back from my monitor if I'm playing a game with a controller or watching a video. You only need to sit 42" back for it to achieve the perceived 'retina' level of clarity. isthisretina.com/

And sure more lines of code, web pages etc... etc... are all good features. No one is debating the plain simple fact a higher resolution monitor is measurably superior. But those features aren't of benefit to all.

2. The text is not fuzzy, the pixels are digital. Up close you can see the pixels, sat back you can't. Someone with poor eyesight has no benefit to more pixels. As I said the pixels are drawn digitally, there is a clear edge from one pixel into the next, they don't become fuzzy because they are bigger. My parents used to use a 24" 1080p monitor with Windows scaling turned on. They're much happier with a big 1080p monitor, they would not tell the difference side by side of a 1440p and 1080p monitor unless they moved closer than they actually sit when using the device.

See the interesting thing is I'm not dismissing your point that a higher resolution is superior, Who would? It's quantifiably superior. But I am dismissing "27" is too big for 1080p. You'd want 1440p at that size." as a blanket statement. Plenty of people quite happily can use these size and definition devices, if they're not for you fine pay more for a better device, but you're wrong to unilaterally dismiss its functionality.

That's a long post when you could just have written "I don't know what … That's a long post when you could just have written "I don't know what I'm talking about".1. The difference between 1080p, 1440p and 4k is abundantly clear in computer monitors. We're not talking about 40" TVs from across a room, we're talking about monitors you're sat a few feet from. More pixels means more lines of code, more web pages, more impressive games.2. 1080p at 27" just looks undefined. Text is a bit fuzzy and it hurts my eyes after a while. Someone with poor eyesight would be much better off buying a 1440p 27" monitor and using their OS's inbuilt scaling. Text will be crisper and easier to read. However at 27" 1440p you don't even need scaling, text is the perfect size.

No it's not. Not everyone does.People without actual experience of using … No it's not. Not everyone does.People without actual experience of using this setup should really keep from offering comment. Is 1440p nicer to look at than 1080p? Yes, but it's more expensive and harder for low spec hardware to draw.Does 1080p on 24" or less look sharper? Yes, but you need to sit closer to it.I like my 27" 1080p monitor. No I'm not going to claim that sat close to it the pixels are indefinable, but it's nice to sit back watching a video or play games on. And once you get past a certain distance, use folks without super human vision can't tell the difference between 1080, 1440 or 2160p frankly.Would I recommend this for a professional or enthusiast? No, but then the resolution is going to be less a factor than it's colour accuracy.Would I recommend this as say a second monitor, or for someone who just wants to play some games, watch some media at a comfortable distance or maybe even for someone a bit older who wants less eyestrain reading text? Absolutely.1440p and 4k monitors a sufficiently more expensive than these types of display that there are plenty of circumstances where people are happier with this and the money in their pocket than a higher def display.

I had the zero less frame Acer 27 inch 4k in another deal by BT shop too.

I can't fault anything apart from scaling the very small text on Window 10.
I was looking at Dell 25" , 2515H, 2516D but they didn't hit a 200 quid mark or somewhere near.
So I ve gone for Acer. This is a bargain considering 27 inch 4k at 300 quid.
If you're scaling, then the monitor isn't big enough. At 4k you're defeating the purposes of such huge real estate by enlarging everything.

I had the zero less frame Acer (27 inch 4k), and quite frankly it's a gimmick. It's far too small without scaling and their panels use a seriously grainy coating.

I've found the Dell 25" at 1440p to be perfect. Great colors, more space than 1080, less graphically taxing on my 980ti, and more importantly the pixel density is about perfect with no scaling required. Cheaper too
I tried to post this last week but it got taken down - still not sure why, but it sounded like HUK Deals thought I was a Scan employee or something

anyway, I was posting as it seemed great to me, but I wanted to get views from others. I went for it anyway and it's currently sat on my desk. it's lovely!

The bezel is grey if that sort of thing bothers you. probably more worrying is that the backlight is a bit uneven , but to be honest I've only noticed that in a dark room with a completely blank, black screen. Having noticed it then, I can now see it if I put an entirely black imager on it during the day, but it doesn't affect me in the slightest in normal use as I don't tend to sit looking at an entirely black screen. I thought I'd mention though as I know some people are very concerned about such things - on mine, it's both the left and right bottom corners.

I also can't really comment on things like colour accuracy as I'm using for general desktop use and gaming. on the latter, obviously you'll need a very beefy graphics card to run at full resolution and quality, but I've only got a 660ti and by dialing down the quality, I've been able to actually use the full resolution more than I thought I would. It is already making me think of upgrading the graphics card though...

Oh, my limited experience so far of windows scaling is OK, at least on windows 10 which can scale on a per monitor basis. I think windows 7 and older the scaling is system wide which is not good for multi monitor of one is high DPI like this and the other is a more normal 24" full HD

Personally, I find the 2560x1440 on my 27" IPS to be inconveniently high a lot of the time. Sure, I could choose to run it at 1080p, and still have the 1440 if I needed it, but it wouldn't be as sharp as this would (at it's non native res), and it cost twice as much.

I'm not just asking for "more dots". But 27" is pretty big. A 1080p 20" screen seems about right (actually I have a 17" 1920x1200 laptop and it seems a bit excessive sometimes). At 1080p 27" the dots are just bigger. To get the same size dots the resolution should be... ummmmmm... 1..2...7...34.... I dunno, higher

Anyhoo, it was a good price for a big screen

You'd find a lot of photographers who disagree with you on that And VA is definitely superior when it comes to seeing subtle differences in dark shady areas!

I was waiting for a nice IPS 24" to drop below 100. Something similar to the iiyama that was on here a few weeks ago (from scan as well).
But I'm really tempted by this. Is it worth £50 more, for more screen real estate and the VA tech?

I'll be using it for engineering drawings, writing reports and gaming.

IPS is better for photography work, it's not debatable. Has much better colour accuracy.
