It should be ideal as you just place the cup under the tap press to fill..so no picking up the kettle !

chillianna

Thinking of buying this for my gran. Does anyone know if this is suitable for a 93 year old, who is a little unsteady? Would it be too complicated?

Fuse

Brilliant for one cup, boils quick , never had bad tasting water with this.

Kevo2k7

They take exactly the same amount of time as a 3kW kettle boiling one cup of water. So they are no big deal really.

ss38

I bought one of these from B & M, we were so impressed with the speed of it, I went back and bought another one for the office. They do only hold one cup, but they're that quick, you can make two cups of tea before the kettle has finished boiling - I've done a 'time and motion' on it :-) hot from me.

Have this at home and I really like it. You can vary the amount and temperature of water dispensed which is handy. Would recommend.

steversred5

I think you may as well buy a Tassimo for this kind of money. If you buy a sevice disc for around a fiver and stick a barcode from a coffee disc to it, you can get hot water from it with the added bonus of being a coffee machine.

the most pointless thing ever!

jamjar

150 ml capacity? That's not very much, surely a decent cup is at least 250ml,well it would be for me anyway!

blootoon763

tried a few of these type of things from Breville but not tried this make, but this one dispenses even less water than the Breville ones, but the biggest problem i found was the water was never hot enough for a good cup of tea, water boils at 100 degrees and this thing spits it out at 96 so it will never be hot enough for a good proper brew.

urbanlegend11

This sounds like a good idea. If only they made a device that could boil up more than one cup of water at a time (_;)

Pluun

F00k! Yer perfectly right! I thought it was just the hot water boiler. Yer still a kn0b though. :p

deeky

Propper? Anyway, silly me for thinking that a 'hot water dispenser' with an alarm function and a gradual wake up light would normally be kept in a bedroom. Unless of course, you sleep in your kitchen? Oh, and you're right again, it has nowhere to keep milk. Unless you count the 350ml stainless steel flask that's included and advertised as 'somewhere to keep your milk cool overnight so there's no need to trek to the fridge to complete your drink'. Not forgetting the non'-existent tea bag storage facility that they must have inadvertently included. If you're going to try to belittle someone with smart-ass comments, it really pays do do a little research first, just to be on the safe side. It's all readily available and could save you considerable embarrassment. http://www.breville.co.uk/products/hot-water-on-demand/vcf042-breville-wake-cup-hot-water-dispenser.html

Pluun

Ah, just as I thought. Please find someone who can read and ask them to tell you that this post is for an "INSTANT HOT WATER BOILER". oO It's a gadget that ( usually) stays in the kitchen. It holds water and at the press of a button, it dispenses about a mug of hot water. It has nowhere to keep milk. Or teabags. I can not find any reason to perambulate your stairs with it either. Hmmm. Sorry. That might confuse you. I meant there is no reason to walk either up or down your stairs to use it. Unless you fancy a cuppa when you're on the loo. Y'know? You're not even clever enough to be a propper Troll. :|

nikita1971

Got a beko fridge freezer and only 3 years old and has just died on me. They are poor quality every drawer has cracks in, one shelf with a crack in it. The plastic is just so brittle. My last fridge freezer lasted 12 years. I would honestly avoid beko.

Thanks for the code, i am so tempted, especially with the drinks dispenser. I have a whirlpool and it's pants. The door shelves have broken and all the door seals have split. i missed argos one last week, hmnnn

TheOak

You are soooooooooooooooo right! The sheer number of times I have heard my elderly, disabled relatives saying the kettle that they've used for 70 years "was like sooo last week" and what they really needed was "a new, alternative contraption that does exactly the same job but I would have to learn all over again how to use it!" . My gran was quite specific - "if at all possible, could it also look like an over-sized, red **** - that would be so lush". I don't like the word 'lush' either so it annoyed me when she used that.

AuntieAxe123

For disabled people like me, it means I don't have to pick up a heavy kettle filled with boiling hot water. Have tried all the Breville incarnations of this which have all been faulty, but this one is a star.

knowitall5

i MUST say that a regular kettle does the same job and more importantly if you pour 150ml of water into a descent regular kettle it would probably boil it in 30 seconds also thus negating any advantageous use of this device.

Peegy

I could have sworn that was what I said, but in less words. :D

MrRee

Think yourselves lucky that you didn't buy from the Customer Service from Hell company - CURRYS!! Really, take it from someone who had to take them to court over faulty goods, never, ever, buy from them!

TheCaptain

This deal simply does not exist... I know this for a fact as I tried to buy this fridge freezer 2 weeks ago when it was £279, I went to 3 currys in the NE of england and not one of them had one in stock, finally got fed up of trailing round trying to find one I asked them to check where had them in stock... Turned out there was only one left in the whole country and that was in Exeter... like I say that was 2 weeks ago, and they will not have any new stock in as each currys I went to told me it was a discontinued item that was been sold off... Non existant deal...

Peegy

And once again a £***.97p deal that is clearance, that everyone will complain that it is a con because they cannot find one.

magicjay1986

Thank you for posting. I have added the price and retailer to your title :)

The Simpsons: Personal Water Dispenser With Ice Cooler £7.99 and in the 3 for 2 offer @ Play
This 2 litre capacity Simpsons water cooler comes complete with an ice cooler to keep those summer beverages chilled.
eiamhere69

This is just a novelty item, although you can use it as a water dispenser (it does dispense), I guarantee you won't. As mentioned the rubber fish which floats within the water bottle makes the water taste foul. Also as you are re-using the same bottle (difficult to clean), mould soon starts to gather, especially arounfd the fish.

cicobuff

Repped for the review, seems its not worth £7.99 let alone the original retail price, one of those things that would end up binned, in a charity shop or sold for 50p at a car boot sale to get rid of the clutter.

melted

See the review on amazon - It doesn't cool the water itself, you have to put chilled water in it and the fish goes moldy and adds a nice rubbery taste to the water, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wesco-BS201-Simpsons-Personal-Dispenser/dp/B000F44PQQ

Blender

I had one of these. Not even a cooling tower, theres no electronics in it. And that plastic fish in their makes the water taste very chemicaly (if thats a word). I remember almost destroying the tower just to get the fish out, because it made the water taste so bad.

LoveHearts

I've been googling it and there's no ifo about how it keeps the water chilled, theres a fish floating around in the water (included) :-D

What is the Kw rating of this kettle...........must be quite high to boil water this quick..........dont get me wrong, this is a clever way to boil 250ml of water. Anyone got one AND a power watcher thingy to see the power consumption?............edited to say that from feedback on Amazon this can take up to 50 seconds to boil so may not be a high Kw element.

RSteve

Hot. Always thought the Tefal one was pointless as it doesn't do proper boiling water so useless for tea, but if this does proper boiling water it'll be great. The blue illumination will be a from a LED which will use barely any power and certainly the savings you'd make on water would outweigh them unless you never ever put too much water in your kettle.

sheely-wheely

It's not that small .... it sits next to my kettle and is taller than that. Although it does actually take longer than the 4 seconds it claims, it is much faster than any kettle. Would recommend.

Soulreape

Was gonna buy one of these, loved the idea, until I actually saw it in real life, cheap and nasty and small. Ok for your Grans kitchen I guess. Good price though.

psycho_terror

as mentioned, the water cooler is awful quality, and will probably give you some sort of disease after a while. as for the fridge, for the money they aren't bad, but don't expect a whole lot of space, or for it to last forever. the constant fan noise may also be an issue for you. i went through two of them in about 2 years, and decided to plonk down £100 for a proper mini fridge with a compressor.
