Puzzled by the heat when; a) it seems there are virtually none available b) in nearly all cases what is available will be ex-display - from working in retail I would never want anything that the "public" has been able to get its sticky hands on! It's a good price, but I'd bet that not even 285 people are able to get this....

Because I wanted 3d and that is not available anymore in 95% of tv's I took the refund as i still like to watch 3d but the next available tv that they had was a lot more expensive. Had another 3d tv in the bedroom that we dont use so used that ......so much more convienient as that is passive 3d which is so much easier to use. If there is nothing on their site you like just say you want a refund.

Yaff1e

When I phoned them I was told it could be up to 28 days but is usually far less and a company called Martin Dawes would contact me to arrange to collect it and carry out the repair offsite. The day before the visit I received a call from Martin Dawes saying they knew what the problem was without visiting and all they would do is take a couple of photos of the problem / serial number and send it to John Lewis or I could email them the photos to save a visit. Apparently they then forward the photos to John Lewis for them to either authorise the panel replacement at my house or to decide what other option they want to take if it's not cost efficient. I'm kind of hoping it's not cost efficient and they'll go down the route of a refund but either way as long as I've got a TV at the end of it I'll be happy.

simonbrowne

Mine did exacly the same about 6 months ago and luckilly found I had bought this from john lewis (actually by using this site to figure where i bought it and then confirming on JL) .JL took it away and after 28 days I asked what was happening only to be told they were business days.......complained some more and got a full refund.....who wants to wait 6 weeks without a tv....stupid amount of time for a repair.......Always try and get the 5 year warrentee. amazon are also good at refund for items like this...i think they do 3 year standard.

Yaff1e

Three and a half years later and I'm glad I went with John Lewis as mine has developed a couple of large purple patches on the display. I'm in the process of testing out the 5 year John Lewis guarantee now.

Anyone had issues with this TV and Xbox one graphic blurring? Mate of mine bought the 40 inch version last week and gets slightly blocky graphics when moving within games. Tried different settings etc with no luck. I have the older version of the TV and don't get the issue. everything else seem fine on the TV. can't work out if it's the Xbox or the TV? Yes, very happy with it. Can't fault the picture, but think the Panasonic has a slight edge - warmer perhaps? 10inch difference, so difficult to properly judge. You have 3 months with Costco to request a refund if you're not happy - they happily collect free of charge

The 2018 models are pretty good. The only thing I don't like is that its a VA panel rather than IPS (personal preference). The Smart features are meant to be really good too.

Ah cool, found it.

bonzobanana

Looks like end game for Finlux passive 3D televisions. There are none on their site and I wonder if LG is allowing third party manufacturers to use their panels anymore as LG have moved their 3D models higher up the range. Third party passive 3D televisions seem much harder to find now. The newer Finlux models seem to have less hdmi sockets (only 2) and other restrictions. Some reviews have stated slow operation and I wonder if they have downgraded from a quad core cpu board to a dual core cpu to save costs. So for those who got a model in this series either 43", 49" or 55" or the similar models under the Techwood brand you've probably done well. Doesn't seem anything on the market now of a similar spec/price. Really you need to pay a lot more to get an LG of similar spec. It's not just the LG panel featuring passive 3D it also seemed a better panel overall than the generic chinese panels the non 3D versions used.

That strange pattern hasn't reappeared since set up so I am fairly confident that it was part of the background image itself that was part of the demo. That said, I will bear in mind your comments. I don't suppose anyone else who bought it having seen this thread/your deal will bother to respond but if anyone else pops in to read the comments and reads this before setting theirs up perhaps they can check and let me know. I have completed all the calibration settings now and am delighted with the picture, it is even better than the top end Panasonic plasma set it replaces, love it.

thetarget

I cannot recall what the EX700 did. You could look, or ask on AV Forums as they have a EX750 owners club thread. Maybe the demo you mention is on the Panasonic website or on YouTube. At least it went after the demo. Worth finding out in case it is a fault with specific colours and movement on your set, in that area of the screeen. Can you re-run the demo again to view it more closely as to what is happening? You could maybe factory reset and put in shop mode to see what the shop demo looks like on your TV. You've got 12 months cover with Panasonic for it.

COUPONKEV

Thanks thetarget I ordered and received mine today, just set it up. Not tested every socket or feature but initial impressions are positive, the tv seems to be unmarked. The only mark is to the pole height adjuster which has a scratch that is hidden behind the tv when fitted. The chrome stand base is new, the tv appears to be new or good as and even has the sticker protector still over the word Panasonic at the bottom. I will adjust calibration settings etc over the weekend in line with the avforums YouTube video and test it properly. I noticed a strange pattern around the bottom right corner of the screenas it went through the set up/demo and thought I had a duff but it seems to be part of the demo image itself and gives the impression of liquid leaking under the glass like you often notice on a broken laptop screen but it vanished as soon as the demo finished. Very strange if this is part of the demo video, not very professional but just be aware and don't panic if you see it when you set yours up.

Dando83

One of the only big names with 3D this year. Cool stand. If my budget had been tighter, I'd have gone with this TV. Just not as bright as the leading HDR TVs so didn't make my cut.

Old thread, but anyone remember what the warrantee period was for this? Maybe 5 years?? Basically been using headphones plugged into the jack occasionally and now when I unplug them it still thinks they are plugged in and there is no sound from the TV. Googled it a bit and comments are to plug and unplug the jack a few times, do a factory reset etc. But nothing works. I have now emailed the company and hope it is a 5 year warrantee and I can get it fixed or replaced for free. May have been 1, 2 or 3 years though. Will dig out paperwork that came with the TV if I can.

davemichael

Ecentually got around to ringing support and claiming the delivery costs back today. Took a couple of minutes on the phone and they are now refunding me. If you haven't done so it is worth it.

davemichael

I applied for this when I received the TV. Just got confirmation email saying my claim had been approved and it was on its way :) Not sure if I will use it yet, but can always still it on it I don't, hopefully. If someone can now explain what speaker I need to get that works with this I would be grateful :)

davemichael

Ok thanks Avit. Only played briefly with the Smart functions and was very quick gonig through the menus and program guide. Couldn't get iplayer to work, but I think that was a one-off problem as ITV player was fine. I have it connected directly to my Virgin router as it is very close by, haven't tried it over WiFi though - I will have a go at that when I can.

Hi. I have, picture is outstanding and the sound quality is much better than other flat pannel I've watched. My dad just paid £900 for a 58 inch Panasonic and the E6 beats it out of sight in every area.

SandorClegane

Hi. The E6 is currently on offer at Amazon for £900. I am considering taking the plunge at that price. Have you still got your E6 and are you happy with the TV?

rnem170

Not sure who went first, but same price at RichersSounds. JL have also now price matched. I 'did' have one reserved in Currys Guildford. Got to store after online chat/support said they would honour the extra £100 off and they refused to. RicherSounds have one in store with my name on it and I'll get a 6 year warranty with them. Lost out on £25 quidco, but 1 year extra warranty is worth that. 25 month interest-free on purchases on my new credit card - result.

sonicdeathmonkey

Good price for this model. Heat given as Currys are the first to take the plunge. You really wouldn't spend this much money without a 5 year guarantee though....

Masteryates

Totally agree. I went for the C6 and the 3D is the best I've seen. Tempted to buy another to just sit there for 10 years for when the first breaks down.

I am an engineer maybe not in TVs but I know how things work. During the euro football these screens was used and nearly all binned due to failures. Was a massive container full going to scrap. I manage to make 1 out of all the parts and found that the light strip burnt out and stopped the whole thing working. Light strips these days not the cheapest or easiest to get your hands on. Repair requires stripping down the whole tv which takes lot of time, hours if never don't it before. I have some space part for mine so not very much worried as I can always replace the led strip. Iv changed it twice so far in my screen which makes it a serious fault these models These are great TVs but as a caution to all that have this screens insure it as it will be peace of mind knowing it's not scrap when it's dead. I'm not trying to say not to get it just be cautious

waynebeetison

Might see if I can sell my 58" quickly

IDONTBELIEVEITYETAGAIN

Are you a TV engineer then ? How many have you seen in total & over how long a period ?

shadowdragonv6

It depends on how you long you have the tv. Iv seen plenty of the 650b and 750b in the dx ranges all suffer from 1 blink light error which is that one of the strips of cheap led lights has failed. So just adding my word of caution to all who have any in this range just be sure to insure.

I'm not a Sony fanboy. I just like getting the best for my money, where you clearly don't. You can't compare a phone to a television, e tirely different production arms! I've had a Sony TV in my spare room for 5 years with a grand total of 0 problems, hardly unreliable? The article you linked is for the 65 inch model, which could be totally different, doesn't say it's 10 bit or 8+frc so you still haven't proved your false point and the article even states the mu7000 or Sony xe90 is better, so... What was your point exactly? That i was right???, as you can see it's been given 4 stars, here is the Sony review.. http://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/sony-kd-55xe9005 I rest my case. So having just been to Currys to have a browse my heart was on the oled b7 but the q led sat next to it for 1299 looks so more vibrant ? Decisions !!

ro53ben

Not missing the point, but I have an LG OLED that's a year older than this range and haven't seen a single problem. I came to OLED from a Panasonic Viera plasma which I loved due to black levels but the OLED is way better. I used to get some image retention on the Plasma - like seeing a DOG or similar for a few minutes after changing channel, or stopping gaming - but have never seen anything on the OLED and viewing hours are longer now due to two growing kids using it more in the day time. I never saw screen burn on either my Plasma or my OLED, but I did see "demo" TVs with some screen burn. Not the case with OLED, never seen a fault in person.

Kraken

Paid £2100 for this TV last year! It's a stunning TV.

cyclonus10

You are missing the point. People are experiencing issues from day to day use, not just the extreme tests they are running in the 1st link. The 2nd run of tests will be the most useful as it features six C7's running day to day tests. Some people paid £2500+ for the B/C6 and after a year of normal usage they have issues. Most not aware that it is the tech itself that makes screen burn an issue. There are ways to reduce the chance of it ever happening which is what a lot of these people would have liked to have known before they made the purchase. I understand why LG would never want to make a big song and dance about a guide which lessens the chance of screen burn, as it could hit sales. I recommended the B7 to my mate after he saw it in Curry's for £1350 just before xmas, I got a bit of info from him as to his daily usage, he wanted the best gaming TV. He only games 3-5 hours at a time. I explained everything I learned from OLED research, pros and cons from various sources and let him make the final decision. I sold him my Panasonic UT-50 plasma 2 years ago for £100 when I went 4k. It's still running perfectly after 6-7 years but when I went the plasma route you bet I researched the hell out of the model and the plasma tech itself before making the purchase. I miss the blacks of my plasma, was the first thing I noticed when I switched on my new TV. So you can imagine I would so love to get on board the OLED train but my gaming usage at times makes it an expensive gamble.

ro53ben

Worth pointing out though, kudos to the guys doing these tests - even if they are utterly unrealistic. They show quite clearly that the non-OLED screens have very uneven brightness on day one. Dark, corners on most of the images and totally awful. Would you want a screen that might have screen burn one day, if you abuse it? Or one that is rubbish on day one?
