I have the Vivomove Style - love it. Similar comments to above + it looks like a normal watch, which I like.

I also gave the Vivoactive 3 and it is excellent. Very smooth and great battery life.

Good deal, have some heat. I’ve had the 3 for about a year and it’s a lovely, feature packed watch for the money. Garmins are always gonna be pricier than the Chinese equivalents, but the apps and support are in a different league. You get what you pay for.

Any bluetooth will do. At least the 5 or 6 different, often unknown branded ones, work fine for me.

jackthelad07

Hi guys, just read the description and it says you have to have a compatible pair of headphones but doesn't elaborate, I'm guessing Bluetooth but does it mean that only certain ones work, and if so what should I be looking out for? Thanks!

Really nicely put

Depends on your preferences. The garmin has an always on screen which lasts a week. The Samsung (44mm) has a larger amoled screen which with always on will last 2 days at best. The Samsung has a mic and speakers for calls. Basically look at the Samsung as a smart watch with lots of smart features that has mediocre fitness capabilities, mainly hampered by battery life. The garmin has lots of fitness features but mediocre smart watch capabilities, mainly hampered by the screen and a less 'smart' based app store. I have had both and have ended up with a garmin because most smart watch features are still best done on a phone and a watch does the fitness thing better than a phone. Especially this garmin which means you could go for a run with your watch only and some Bluetooth headphones and Track all your fitness accurately and battery won't take a big bit. Do that with the Samsung and the battery will drain at about 25% an hour and the heart rate monitor is not particularly accurate when running. But as a smart watch goes few are as good for Android as the Samsung. For a fitness watch garmin has myriad options which would explain their dominance in the market.

I got mine in June 2018 and I can barely tell any difference in battery life, and it’s been used daily since then. Might be worth a chat with Garmin whether that is the expected life span?

dragonboatgirl

I've got the vivoactive 3 and as someone who runs, cycles, paddles (used to for GB) and does indoor cardio several times a week (used be several times a day!), this watch is amazing. But after two years the battery only lasts 24hrs, if I'm lucky. Two years is a pretty good lifetime for this type of technology and I'm looking at the vivoactive 4 as a replacement but it's not got 'enough' additional benefits compared to the 3 to make it worth the price. So I'll probably get another 3 when it's on offer again for a bit less than this deal.

fisiksguy

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it. I have a the vivoactive 3 music and I'm very happy with it but I bought it over a year ago for about this price. Unless you need a watch right now I'd wait for a better deal.

I have a gun metal version. This is for a gift. Not found any issues with the current one.

If it does the job amazingly well, why would they change it? These are quite a mature technology now.

Difficult to know for sure as there are lots of forerunner models. The key is what your hubby's budget is. For most runners the Forerunner 45 will provide all they need. It doesn't have some of the fancier performance metrics but you can pick it up for £127.49 from Garmin via TOTUM and other discount affiliates. I got mine from an eBay retailer for just £89 and am very impressed with it. It doesn't just cover running and allows you to have up to 6 different activities installed at any one time. The Forerunner 245 is the next model up and will definitely do all that your hubby requires unless he wants to get into triathlons. It costs about £60 more though. The vivoactive 3 is a really good watch and covers lots more activities and costs roughly the same as the Forerunner 45. The newer vivoactive 4 is quite a bit newer and comes with built in music amongst other things. It also costs quite a bit more. Both vivoactives are touch screen which is either a plus or a minus depending on your preferences.

tracyandluke08

Can anyone advise which would be best for hubby who is a runner (5-10k not marathon) the vivoactive 3/4 or the forerunner

Dealhunter2k12

They are a troll. Look at comment history. They post the same statement in different deal threads, just changes the brand name.

:/ eh? Never heard of Garmin? 😳

Thanks for this. I have a 4S which I love. Use it for heart rate pacing as I have M.E. I use "yoga" for all activity as with yoga the device and app also displays the "stress" score. This is very useful for recovery times. I've also seen "recovery heart rate score" flash up a couple of times but doesn't seem to be on the app.
