List Of MVNO's (Mobile Virtual Network Operator's) Who Offer Wifi Calling

Posted 15th Aug 2023 (Posted 6 h, 17 m ago)
I can't recall the amount of times someone has asked me if a certain network offers wifi calling, so I thought I'd list all of the current MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) who offer the service

What Is Wifi Calling?
WiFi Calling allows you to use a WiFi internet connection to make and receive calls, instead of a mobile network. This can help to improve call quality in areas where you get poor or no signal.

Listed in alphabetical order

Be aware that just because they offer WiFi calling it doesn't mean your handset will automatically be supported.

I'm using Pixel 7 Pro with a Lebara SIM and don't even get WiFi Calling as an option.

However if I put a Vodafone SIM (parent network) in the Pixel it gives me WiFi Calling.

Also if I put my Lebara SIM in an iPhone for example I get the WiFi Calling option on it.

Apparently it's something to do with the profiles that Lebara apply to the phones, which aren't the same as the Vodafone ones.

It's really frustrating, as other than that issue I'm happy with Lebara

I have the same issue with the Pixel 6 even though Lebara says it should work fine.

TBH I see wifi calling as a cop out by the networks to not improve their networks, great of you're at home but if you live in a poor cell area the likelihood of public WiFi is slim.

If it isn't used as a way to skimp on infrastructure projects, then it's a great addition to bolster the network. You'll have people using masts less at home, office allowing people going past or without a compatible device to connect more effectively.

As with a lot of things, good in theory, in practice? Can't say for certain

Should be noted that Sky only offer wifi calling on a model they would sell.

Doesn't need to be actually bought from them.

Weird that some Mobile Network companies supply this for other companies but not for themselves..
Sky, Tesco and Virgin supply this via the O2 network, but O2 don't ??
Also 1p Mobile and BT Mobile on the EE, but not EE??
And Asda Mobile, Lebara, Talk Mobile and Vaxi Mobile on Vodaphone Network, but not Vodaphone ??

Have I missed something here ??

Echo the above about Lebara not supporting WiFi calling on all handsets that are able to have it... And their overseas customer service is pretty awful if the issue is even slightly tricky (barely better than Lyca). (edited)

This is an useful page on wikipedia.org around all virtual mobile operators. I wonder if we could refresh it based on the most recent knowledge!

Wikipedia has a list of all UK MVNOs and a table showing the features of each one including WIFI calling

They need to add to that table a column for which support wifi on london underground. For example 1pm mobile does not. It won't use EE's free wifi on tube stations.

Worth noting that any Vodafone network has to have a supported handset which can be very restrictive, for example Sony Xperia's don't work with Wifi calling on Vodafone MVNO's.
