From the RNLI website (Please note nothing below constitutes legal advice, and I am by no means a trained professional! You should seek advice from a legal professional if you are unsure on anything - I accept no responsibility if you use the below!)

You can write or update your Will online, from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

We have teamed up with Will writing provider Farewill so you can write or update your Will.

There's no obligation to leave a gift to the RNLI in your Will, but we hope you may consider it. Every gift left to the RNLI in a Will, large or small, helps keep our lifesavers safe when they face the full force of the sea to rescue someone in peril.

How does it work?

  • To redeem your free Will, click the link.
  • Create an account with Farewill and complete their simple online questionnaire from the comfort of your home.
  • Your Will is then checked within 5 days by an expert, to make sure your wishes are clear.
  • Once it has been checked by Farewill’s experts, you need to print and sign in front of two witnesses to make it legally binding

Who can use it?
This free online Wills service is available to people aged 18 or over who live in England and Wales.

Unfortunately, it’s not yet available to those in Scotland, the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland because of key differences in laws around Will writing and inheritance. We’re working hard to make this available to everyone as soon as we can. If you are based in Scotland, the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, please speak to our Gifts in Wills Team to explore other Will writing options or visit our page about writing your Will face-to-face with a solicitor.

Thank you
We understand that your priority is looking after your loved ones, so there is no obligation to leave a gift to the RNLI in your Will, but we are so grateful to you for considering it. If you do choose to leave a gift to the RNLI in your Will, thank you.

Your special gift will be the protective kit, intensive training and facilities that help protect our lifesavers when they face stormy seas to answer the call for help, day and night. A gift in your Will is our protection at sea. And your generosity will always be remembered – because once we are notified that we have received your gift, your name will be added to the side of a lifeboat along with the names of 10,000 other supporters who have left a gift in their Will to the RNLI.

Noticed a few different charities offering these free will writing services.

Just wondering from anybody with experience, how 'pushy' are these charities in wanting you to make a donation?

What's a charity offering something for free without a guilt trip along the way?

Any company providing a Will for "free" doesn't get paid unless you make a donation usually, which makes me question whether you really have their best service available to you, it just gets dumbed down into data inputting which is what farewill is. At least if you're sat infront of a face to face Will provider there's notes being made for later if the Will ever gets questioned in some way and there's some defence, even if it's a freebie charity one.

Might as well just write your own will on a piece of paper instead of using Farewill imo, no mental capacity checks, no identity checks, the checked by specialsits aren't really checking for anything other than basic software contradictions, its ripe for a will being questioned everytime if a beneficiary isn't happy with what they're getting and that is happening more frequently now, but Farewill being online can't ever be as pushy as being sat infront of someone and getting their time for free but the usual tactics are trying to offer professional executors instead of you choosing your own instead of the charity donation.
