Found 22nd Feb 2013
I know this has been posted some time ago but now is available in ALL Asda stores.
Also when register it is taking you to local web page where you can see the fuel prices at the local store.

For example: wifi.asda.com/sto…618

Registering for Asda Wi-Fi couldn’t be easier with just a few simple steps:

1. Select Asda Free Wi-Fi from your network list on your phone
2. Enter your mobile number
3. Receive a text message with your access code
4. Enter the access code into the log in screen
5.Enter your details and click go

Once registered you will be able to access Asda Wi-Fi automatically in any of our stores.

I've tried it in the Slough store a few times and never managed to get through the sign up pages, could be just me but I don't have issues elsewhere (i.e. other free wi-fi).

I registered a while ago, and ive never got anything from them. Theres probably a box to check or uncheck to say you dont want them to contact you, I cant remember though
Was in my local yesterday and today despite it working previously it seemed out of order at present. Even a member of staff moaned that he had to use his data allowance to get emails.
Should join giff gaff unlimited Internet for 12 quid a month

Lol, ive never seen so complicated way to connect to a wifi
I usually find that I lose my mobile signal in the 'local' stores.
So I wouldn't receive the text.
Great. So people will be paying more attention to their phones and bashing into everyone even more. Just what we need.
For me automatic connection (just with wifi settings) to hotspots is a must have
i dont want to think what hotspots are around and do things to connect to them, i would prefer to stay on 3g
It is so slow anyway i wouldn't bother
Useful ..you can log into your favourite bookmaker and see which ready meal has the best odds.
For those whining, it's the same way to register as it is at Mcdonalds etc...

Same with me so had to go to the entrance.

But it is handy to compare the prices before buy.
When I signed up it was mentioned that it is worcing in conjuction with EE - Everething Everywhere. So not sure if it will be used as a 4G network for their mobile customers.

Noticed Motorola access point on the ceiling.

Dagnabit!
As has already been said, there are already enough clueless chavs wandering around ASDA staring at their phones as it is without free Wi-Fi in store

Shop in Waitrose then.
They filter EVERYTHING
They never send me the text message to register...I've tried a few times now.
worked fine for me today

Yeah, that could be for the private internal wifi network though.
As most of the palms/guns, and even the portable printers that staff have, interestingly use wifi.
Why would i need wifi in Asda....

Very helpful now that QuidCo and TCB have the instore cashback options.
Great if you want to price check an item or see if anywhere has any deals on the products.
For people saying this is a difficult way to connect to WiFi, it really isn't for public WiFi networks. They need to keep an idea of who uses the WiFi network and what for. They need to keep a track of things like all other public networks:)
Dont use giff gaff doesnt work on ipad!!!
Does anyone realise that the reason you can connect to free hotspots without a key is because they're insecure? People hook up their mobiles and sync [insert your choice of deity here] knows what over them and seemingly don't realise that because they didn't have to enter a key to connect it's not just [insert your choice of deity here] but also anyone in range.
