Even I would prefer them in our walls it’s quite some work so went for the easy option as well.

greg666

Exactly, why spend more?

chuzzwuzzer

My folks live in a bungalow so we got some external cable and routed it behind the guttering/facia so no need to trash walls. Worked fine.

Danze1984

Mine have always been plugged into an extension and I’ve never had issues. It needs to be as my BT socket is at the bottom of the stairs next to a single socket. Don’t know if it makes any difference that it’s one of these ones?

Crossbow

Works fine for most people & for sheer ease of use & convenience, they're definitely worth a go (easy returns with Amazon if they don't work as expected). Also, they should always be plugged directly into mains sockets only, so not to be used in multi-plugs or cable extensions of any kind - here's where the pass-through ones come in handy. Perhaps you only tried them with multi-plugs? If yes, there's the main cause of your problems.

Anker PowerCore 13000 - 30% more capacity, one quid less (used to be even cheaper), delivered for free to your doorstep, without need to chase truck during working hours. Charged using microUSB, which is more versatile. Who could possibly came to idea "charging from lightning port is something worth implementing"??? Especially while Apple is slowly giving it up. PS. Before one start moaning about brand - Anker is actually more reputable than Belking when talkng about power banks. EDIT: Sorry, made huge mistake, overlooked £5 voucher which makes Anker £23.99 delivered, not £28.99 EDIT2: There is also offer of 15% discount for Anker USB Charger 4.8A/24W 2-Port USB Wall Charger when purchased together, which will make it £33.33 for 13000mAh power bank AND excellent fast wall charger. Delivered (no truck chasing required)

I just got this text message too. I've taken a look, but I don't think it's worth £30 let alone £55 (full price). There are better/cheaper alternatives on Amazon. Plus, 90% of the reviews are Vine.

Thoughtful

Theoretical maximums, but Virgin cable is already at 350Mb and with the rate speeds are advancing it's going to be pretty close to that theoretical max sooner rather than later.

Bob_Tomato

Which most aren’t. But nice to future proof...

Nothing wrong with Cat5e. You still get 1000 Mbit (1Gb). Cat 6a will give you 10Gb [if your network card, switch and/or router are ready for 10Gb].

Thanks, I just picked one up from my local store. The juice pad doesn’t come with a power adaptor, this does, so not bad for 29 I thought. Also an extra year warranty if you register it online (so three years).

You're talking 1amp vs 1.5amps between 5w and 7.5w..I've been using 2,4a charger (but prob pulling 2.1) for last 2 1/2 years on iphone6+...still going strong

DryUrEyesMate

im sure your £1k phone is smart enough to know how much power is required to charge its own battery, iPhones support 7.5w and android phones support 10w plus with the new 3.0 smart charging tech the phones are in good hands

mxer450

Slow charge is better for your battery tho, so I'm tempted..ive just spent a grand (two years) on a Phone, last thing I want to do is degrade the battery.

windta1ker

Not really, the charger will out live the phone

It's still £9.99 you have to select lightening deal, it then reduces in price

little_deal_minx

Wasn't this post for when it was £9.99 on a lightning deal which was a great price- surely it should of been expired when that deal ended instead of just updating it to the new more expensive price of £14.99? It means later people viewing this will see our posts of how great the price is and then they buy it for 5 quid more without even realising? :/

It's annoying that Belkin changed these so the two rows of sockets are no longer offset, plus they removed the two sockets that could rotate to fit larger power blocks.

just a heads up, the plug distances are tight and face each other, really struggle to get anything but a normal plug in them, chargers and moulded plugs cover the other sockets. Big, bulky can’t attach to wall, it kept tripping my RCD when daughter attached 1000 Watt small room heater. It’s ok for light use.

ShoelaceExpress

The main cord is 2m, not short or long, and the length is not a hidden feature. It becomes long or short based on user needs. You're describing something that does not suit your needs as a flaw. Anyways, no one thing is perfect, things break even from new ( there's warranty for that) and your particular individual experience with it definitely does not describe the product. Not saying that they're great, don't have one, and I can't mass test the product.

Gutted. I've been after this length for a while, so I can charge my Computer with my powerbank at a table on the train without loads of trailing cable. Nearest is 50 miles away.

beaksdale

USB C connectors on a USB 2.0 cable, seems kinda pointless but useful if you just need a USB C compatible cable

Cavee2000

It's USB 2.0 standard which is now 18yrs old! USB 3.0 is ten times the transfer speed, hence why they've reduced this I'm guessing.

Been looking for a router for a while and this one showed up for only £25. These routers normally cost about £100
umirza85

Thanks for that. I did indeed mean power line plugs. Good to know I can use this as an access point..... Will take a chance and hope the ssids don't cause issues if they're both the same with my Virgin hub. I suppose worst case I can do what you did and have a separate ssid in the garage and backyard. I was originally thinking a WiFi powerline extender, but getting an av1200 single one is at least £60..... Since I have a couple extra powerline adapters (without WiFi) with ethernet I thought this would be a cheaper option. Especially as it's out of sight in the garage.

chesham

If you mean POE, not sure it would power the device - if via a power line plug then yes, should be fine but I use mine with a different SSID as I did have clashes. My Sky Q also had issues connecting to a third party router (did it before on another too) so now I have 2 SSIDs in my house with all devices connecting to the Belkin, and Sky connecting to the sky router. In theory, it’s possible to use this as an extender in the setup but didn’t extend myself, I put it along side the original. Have you considered a power line WiFi extender? (If you mean a power line above)

umirza85

I'm looking for a cheap Router that can function as an AP to extend WiFi in my garage via a powered ethernet adapter. Would this be suitable for that scenario? Also do you have any issues with devices struggling to switch between the two networks?

ibzman

Sorry my bad

Drempire

i have same vm package, i can honestly say the belkin router is working better than expected. Your router maybe in a crowed signal area (change channels) or you using the wrong kind of cat cable, also alot of wifi devies dont go above 120 at most

Received it today. Very impressed (going in with very low expectation). :) Wifi speed went from 30MB to about 73MB (out of 76). Now I have 3 APs (5Ghz, 2.4Ghz, and Guest). Will put Alexa onto 2.4, everything else needing speed onto 5Ghz.

Thesman106

Ah, I had this router and it was not all that. It functions as a wired router pretty well, but for wireless it kinds sucks and the usb port on it is pretty useless. It can only handle 500 or 5000 files (cant remember exactly its been a year since i used it) but it would always crash every time that i treid to load something from a drive.

Quicklite

Interestingly yodal tried to deliver today. Couldn't find the address as usual. (lol) Hope to get it tomorrow.

CampGareth

Maybe, I was under the impression that powerline adapters don't work well across different rings but apparently they actually do! I'll pick up some powerline adapters, thank you for prompting me to take another look at them.

melted

Wouldn't powerline be better for that than wifi (unless you have electrically noisy mains appliances, which could degrade performance), such as the gigabit ones posted earlier (unfortunately only one port and no wifi AP) https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/tenda-ph3-powerline-av1000-gigabit-powerline-adapter-kit-pair-2294-delivered-box-3066729

stevenprior1

Ravpower is a good make. I have QI and cables and have lasted a long time. My rav QI does not get hot. Just because it's made in china, doesn't mean its cheap crap. Labour is next to nothing over there. That's why stuff is cheaper

Chillbo

Disagree. I had a ravpower one and it got to hot. Wouldn’t trust cheap Chinese ones.

similar models around the 10 GBP mark, so not really worth it...
