Nice helmet but I would suggest it is worth the extra to get a helmet with MIPS protection such as https://www.tredz.co.uk/.MET-Miles-MIPS-Road-Cycling-Helmet_239040.htm
I've got one of these and I love it. I don't commute and I'm what I'd consider a serious cyclist and the LED at the back is a bonus, especially these days! It's around £32-£35 in most places and I'd say it's an absolute bargain! I normally buy helmets two or three times the price of this and I wish I'd found something like this a lot sooner!
I've got this helmet, I don't have any chin issues and I have it in size L. Bennetts have a informative review and sportsbikeshop allow you to exchange the helmet if it doesn't fit as long as you leave the stickers and tags on it. No charge for return shipping either I ordered mine in L then swapped for an XL as it initially felt too tight, the XL was massive so I swapped back to L. After a day of riding I found the internal cushions has shaped to my skull so the discomfort is now gone. I like the helmet but it's my first helmet so I have nothing to compare against. Take what I say with a grain of salt but sports bike shop is great for returns and fast delivery. Edit: it scored a 5 star in the sharp rating that and the price tag sold me on it. Looks decent too.
Comes in dayglo yellow colour, but it'll set you back £142.49 https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/382331 it's ABS (themoplastic) so might not readily take a coat of spray paint (shudder to think what it'd do to the strength of the shell!) Graphics will almost certainly peel off if a hairdtyer is applied to them and carefully peeled off You could always try "Vinyl wrapping film" like this stuff (wouldn't matter what the base colour was) - but again, it'll probably do horrible things to the strength of the shell, and there's the obvious problem that the sheet is flat, and the lid is basically spherical! If you were serious about it, there's also special fluid (glue) you can apply to the edges which let the film conform to detail shapes.
Does it come in green? would love to have it for halo costume (lol)
If you have a small head I would avoid. There is only one shell size, which means the helmet is huge compared with hemets with multiple shell sizes. It probably explains why some people find their chin touches the helmet and others don't have an issue.
I have this helmet in the white and black, love it and has been my daily helmet for 18 months! Chin clearance is fine for me, fits well and comfy.

Thats always the way in the bike industry some brands have complicated logistics, high marketing costs and a lot of sponsorship so have to charge a lot more than other more direct brands. If I spent £150 on a helmet and then dropped it by mistake outside a shop in a couple of weeks and had to replace it I'd be well annoyed. The thing is MIPs is not a recognised part of any certification process its just a licensed feature and its highly debatable whether it has any improvement in safety in the real world in real world conditions. If you want to improve your helmet safety out on the road use a mountain bike cycling helmet rather than road cycling helmet or even go a stage further and use a downhill helmet. These Planet X helmets are fully certified no worse than any other cycling helmet.
I can't understand how certain brands can get away with helmets of similar specs and design that cost 10x. Not even talking about MIPS or aero helmets!

I've got one of these. Nice helmet, but also agree the chin strap is poor given the price Not as good as my £20 Planet X helmets strap!
Ah yes the excess strap flapping, I've got the same issue with mine.
My daily helmet is one of these mostly because Ive always got on well with MET helmets and I also have a Strale, a Manta and a Codatronca. I replaced the standard version with the 3k version and there isnt a huge difference between them . Its marginally lighter (215g vs 250g), its closer fitting so less of the 'mushroom head' issue and the colourways seem a bit nicer. My only criticism would be the chinstrap adjuster on mine leaves a lot of surplus that dangles. Someone asked why it wasnt fully carbon. I expect its because MET understand material properties. The 3K carbon is in an intermediate layer around the EPS foam and the polycarbonate outer protects that from everyday wear and tear so it is still strong when you crash. The polycarbonate will also be more suited to tight radius complex aerodynamic shapes which would be prone to voids or poor lamination. Making things out of carbon fibre isnt the panacea. This probably the best price Ive seen them at. Im tempted to buy another
I've had this helmet the trenta 3k carbon in Matt white for a couple of years, I paid about this price for it from a French shop that no longer exists might have been acycles. Very good helmet, nice storage bag. Only gripe is I have gone through a couple of the front pads at a tenner a time for the set, not bad for 2 years use.
Great, let us know once you get it, I am waiting for the white one

That’s what I paid! ;( Needed it at the time though..
Anything with kitemark and BS EN (CE) logo matches regs. So yes, if you're buying a drop shippers helmet from Amazon, it most likely won't contain either of these but the cheapo aldi/lidl and even this most likely will.
Hmm my head is 62 don't fancy my chances ramming this onto my noggin.
Thank you (y)
There was an Aldi child’s cycle helmet posted on here recently and someone commented that helmets are not compulsory and do not need to be to any safety standard. Can you confirm that this is not the case and that they are all regulated. hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/45964441

Simple answer NO Reason = "Weight1.23 Kilograms" most bike helmets weight between 200 - 400 grams so this helmet is not intended for mountain biking its WAY too heavy as well as the fact its not quite the right shape/design thats used for biking..
Could you wear it as a bike helmet?
It’s a ski helmet. Smith Vantage. It’s a really excellent helmet. I have one.
have to say, commuting by fairly rapid (non-restricted) ebike close(ish) calls are pretty common, despite 2 front lights, bright yellowjacket and green full-face Bell (MIPS) helmet i still manage to go frickin invisible at times to car-drivers, so with the best will in the world (and over 40 years of riding bikes) suspect will be involved in an accident at some point, so as discussed i think worth spending the money on a decent lid !
As far as I recall, the benefit of MIPS is it lets the helmet move but remain on the head, so the impact moves the helmet more than the head, so taking a higher percentage of the impact force rather than transferring it to the wearer.
Well I was going to ask but this is the internet so I found the answer of what MIPS means... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-directional_Impact_Protection_System I might get one of those to replace my cheap Wilko's helmet, which I bought last year after restarting to cycle. It's better than nothing but I've had a few close calls already so it's better to not tempt fate Edit: to clarify I mean getting a MIPS helm not this deal
Decent helmets regularly available at Aldi/Lidl for under a tenner.
Yeah I went out of my way to buy a MIPS helmet, worth every penny given that it's protecting the most important part of the body ;)
I have one of these and rate it well. The MIPS is to reduce rotational forces in a crash, where the helmet might "grab" the tarmac, the mips system allows your head to move slightly within the helmet and hopefully reduce risk of injury.
£32 for certain colours on Evans
Also bought from Tredz last year. Think this is the standard price

You can get an instant £5 off for joining their mailing list. Just ordered for £33.99 delivered :)
Is there any reason a regular helmet is not as good? Is this a game changer or is it more of a hypothetical improvment? genuinely curious
maybe you should post your bike as a deal ;) some people will complain this is expensive, others that there is no MIPS but not everyone wants the cheapest possible thing that Costco can flog with a yellow sticker on it and its their money. For those that are after a Valegro its a decent price albeit for an older model. For those that are after a Kask helmet Sportpursuit are doing the old Sky livery Valegro at £89.99 https://www.sportpursuit.com/catalog/product/view/id/2288402 They also have Utopia for £129 and Infinity from £109 and most of the off road helmets. Cue whinging about having to give an email address (confused)
Take it easy mate…. I am using a designated bike helmet, designed for the use during cycling which I hope will save my head during impact. Didn’t know about this NASA mips system. Thanks though!
of course, you don't need it... until you need it! your argument could be had for not wearing a heltmet at all! it's horses for courses but, for the sake of an extra £20 would you not want to be assured that if you get hit by an idiot driver in that 11th year that you're as protected as you can be? again, anything is better than nothing but shunning new developments as if they're all cons is just a tad... silly?
Multi-directional Impact Protection System MIPS BPS is a safety technology for helmets. In the event of an angled impact MIPS can reduce harmful rotational forces, which may be transmitted to the brain, by allowing the helmet to slide relative to the head. These rotational forces can cause concussions or even worse brain damage.
What’s mips? Cycling (commuting) for 10 years in London and never heard (have a need) of it? Is there any decent mid price helmet which doesn’t look bulky on the head (like most of the mid price ones)?
What does mips stand for
