Hi All, Found this while browsing for my next bike helmet. It seems like a good value for the price. This deal for Medium size only; Head Circumference 55 - 59cm. Info from the v… Read more

Why MIPS not ARM or x86? Also what benefit does having a CPU in your helmet provide?

Of course they have it's great marketing.

A lot of manufacturers already adopted this tech. Better be safe than sorry :)

Has there been any independant studies on MIPs helmets to see if they are nay better?

can't get enough of that MIPS!!!

Tesco Fusion Adult Bike Helmet - £6 + free C+C @ Tesco Direct

Adult Medium and Large are £6. Small is £9. Rated 4.5/5. Seems like a good deal given the alternatives are all about £10 at Halfords, Argos, Sports Direct, etc.

Hot. Just bought 2 medium for the kids! Not sure why its expired. Thanks

still available medium

Yep both medium and large out of stock. Expiring...

Sold out.

Thanks managed to order the medium while it was saying stock low. Large apparently now out of stock

If anyone had bought and changed their minds because of safety, I really need the R2d2 for a project. I’ll pay purchase price plus p&p

Theres a reason they didnt sell and are now on sale they look stupid and your kids will not want to wear them if theyre older than say 7 and if they do wear them they will get bullied

And halloween costumes also conform to safety standards, despite going up in flames. I'm offering advice from experience. The problem is that you can't fit them to their head properly due to the poor adjustments, making them pretty useless. Aside from the Disney helmet, the others are skateboard style helmets and wouldn't be allowed on most Bikeability courses. Feel free to ignore my advice, but personally I prefer my kids to wear proper helmets which fit their heads correctly and provide much better protection

All Tesco cycling helmets conform to EN1078 safety standards.

If you buy this for your kid they're gonna be bullied so bad

Giro Foray Helmet in Black/Blue/Purple on sale , size M and L only for £26.99 at Wiggle.

How confusing using the same name....! Well the shape of it is comfortable at least haha!

My comments seem to get removed for political reasons, so I will just say this... Before you buy this brand, please Google their holding company then make your own choice on whether you want to give them your money.

Nope this one without MIPS. This one yes ;)

This version doesn't have MIPS. The MIPS version starts at £29.99 depending on size and colour combo.

For £24.99 think it's worth it for at least a couple years use -

Manufacturers recommend replacing helmet after a certain amount of years, a money spinner yes but also safety for degradation of materials. Whether the clock starts from manufacture date or purchase I’m not sure, but with a 2016 helmet that clock is ticking :/

I ordered this helmet as i liked the colour and design, the quality also looks better than my two other older Chinese helmets, seems to be an opinion in the comments they are un-safe not sure why as China supply all the low to mid range makes most riders wear so they must be good enough meet the required safety standards. For me the risk is the fit, always better to try on before buying, but nothing similar available from my local shops.

Rule of thumb: If its anything to do with safety DON'T buy from an unreputable source. Because sure as s$$$ when you need it, it wont work properly. I'd rather pay a few extra quid from halfuds knowing that if something did go wrong they could be held accountable.

Looks like the S-Works Evade helmet! Personally I wouldn’t skimp on a cycle helmet but different strokes for different folks especially if you have a small budget.

I've bought many things from China, but one of the few I wouldn't is a bike helmet.

I don't doubt the protection offered by the authentic version of this, i'm just not sure i'll be getting an authentic one if i buy off aliexpress. During last year's Ride 100 i fell off my bike during a downhill section after Leith Hill and landed on my head. The only thing that saved me from sure death was my helmet.

Does not look like it comes in different sizes. Rubbish

I definitely recommend people try on a bike helmet before they buy. Heads are as unique in shape as feet: except at least with shoes there is a chance of breaking them in, whereas bike helmets are totally unyielding.

Just been to pick mine up and found that medium is too small for my head :(

Pay the extra £150. The halfords bike has a concealed Panasonic quality battery, high quality drive train, aluminium frame, lower weight, better components all round. It's an absolute world apart in quality for only £150 difference. If ideal world sold the same bike they would probably want £900-1000 for it. Not forgetting Halfords will assemble for you, free 6 weeks service and there is always a Halfords nearby for guarantee/warranty work etc. You can also lower the price, topcashback, zeek etc. I realise for some £150 may be a crucial price difference but the low end parts of the ideal world bike will likely fail after relatively light use and need replacing and its quite likely this bike will cost you much more over 5 years allowing for maintenance and repair costs. Also you have to factor in the exposed battery pack. Easily stolen from the bike unlike the Carrera. The Carrera is also a more all weather design and frankly looks far more premium and will likely achieve a higher s/hand price if you needed to sell later. Just seems false economy not to pay the extra £150. The freehub based drivetrain of the Carrera will cope with far more abuse, drops off pavement etc, its the same strong hub design as used on premium bikes and real mountain bikes. More importantly there doesn't appear to be handlebar height adjustment on this bike unlike the Carrera so many people small and tall may not be able to achieve a good fit on the bike plus it may compromise the bike's ability to fold into a small size. One of the huge benefits of folding bikes is one bike can be used by a whole family (not at the same time of course) so a family living in a flat for example have easy storage of the bike plus everyone can ride it. This is compromised by lack of handlebar height adjustment which limits it to be people more of average height. Lastly the much lighter weight and superior gearing of the Carrera means if you have to pedal it home without motor assistance it will be far easier to do so. You'll likely be more able to cope with hills rather than get off the bike and walk them. There are probably many other reasons to go with the Carrera but that's all that came to mind. I guess the cycle to work scheme is another factor you may be able to pay for the bike interest free over a few years and not pay income tax or national insurance on its purchase so could save effectively 30-40% on the price effectively bringing it down to about £350-400 approx if your workplace offers the cycle2work scheme. Before you ask I don't work for Halfords or have any connection with them at all but the Carrera Crosscity seems to be the e-bike bargain at the moment regarding quality and price. Couple other points the Carrera battery is 8.7Ah vs 7Ah so you have greater battery capacity. The one thing in favour of the ideal world bike is the motor is on the front wheel. This gives the advantage that punctures are more likely on the rear wheel and having the motor on the rear wheel makes it more difficult to sort punctures. It will be slower and more difficult to sort punctures with the Carrera.

Indeed, it doesn't have to be 27kg - 9kg less for £150 more is a lot though!

This is 9kg heavier than the equivalent bike on halfords, Although it is 150 cheaper

This is a battery operated Bike which is Why its is Heavier.

God yes, good point, 27kg is a back-breaker (and a deal-breaker IMO) - the whole point of a folding bike is to drive to a car park and bike the rest of the way to work, for example. 27kg compared to a road bike which even for a cheapo is no more than 11kg, and much less if you splash the cash.

At first glance thought it is a computer mouse. Logitech or similar.

It meets European Safety Standard EN1078, which means it has passed various impact tests. Spending more means you might get additional features such as better ventilation, but it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be safer.

Can't imagine trusting this thing with your life. Spend more, you get what you pay for people!!

I have yet to try the Decathlon helmets but giro is a very respected brand and the cheaper models such as This One will skimp on weight and features but not safety.

Can you confirm the helmet is as good as say the decathlon mid-range ones. I've become particularly picky when it comes to helmets after falling over my handlebars and landing on my head during a particularly steep and wet incline during the Pru 100.
