I've got tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, and wooden floors including the stairs in the rest of the house, so no carpets at all.

That's the 160

I got a titan wet/ dry hoover too but it isn’t great on carpet. Wooden floor excellent Do u use some type of attachment for carpet?!

Recent past. The cheapest I have paid for a Henry is £30 but that was a refurbished one from the factory shop. Tesco's had them last year on sale for around £50-60.

NUMATIC Henry HVR160 Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner - Red £99.99 @ Currys

These were £67 back in 2012 ;(

I had a Henry and it just wasn't very good at all. Get yourself a shark, simply the best vacuum cleaner I've ever used.

I got one of these on the argos deal, it would cut out after 10 mins, so I exchanged it and the new one stopped sucking and started rumbling so going to have to go back to argos and just refund. I think this version of the Henry is naff unless it was a faulty batch or something.

Mine only lasted 2 years and blew its moter, they don’t last too long now same happened to my sisters one too. They don’t make them as good now

The new Hoover heads on these Hendry type Vacuums are rubbish compared to the older models we use them at work and everyone that's used them agreed they were terrible they seem to not want to glide but go in one direction! The hoover themselves are still good but rubbish Hoover heads!

I think in days like these we need a non gender specific vacuum cleaner...

James is particularly designed for trade use, whilst Henry was the original hoover for the home. got me wondering why James wasnt named with a name that begins with H as all other model hoover are? what name it would have if that was so Im unsure? maybe Howard of Hayden. what do people think?

What’s the difference between James and Henry? Yes, I know this question is open to innuendo :D

Made in the UK with decent quality parts, and can be repaired if it ever does break. It will outlast a cheap vacuum many many times over. We used to use them when I worked in hotels with constant use and abuse eight hours a day from the housekeeping girls and apart from the motor brushes and hoses everything survived. You are basically getting a commercial grade cleaner for less than £100.

They don't really. Look at the cost of a Dyson, Samsung and Gtec all much more. Neumatic vacuum cleaners are on par if not better than a Dyson performance wise and they sell replacement parts for years as models rarely change too much. Being able to use just a lone screwdriver you can change the motor or brushes so it can be maintained where as a Dyson isn't designed to be maintained and is seen more of a disposable item when it stops performing as well, what a waste. So the Henry can be kept alive with OEM parts and is very robust. It just works.

I don’t get why these cost so much can someone care to explain?

Thank you ^^

I have the old type 1300W, but ppl have said the new type 620W has still good suction (look at feedback 2017-2018). I would try this new model and if it doesn't work well, amazon is easy with returns.

A Henry vacuum cleaner thread without the obligatory cocaine snorting gif?

Are these new models any good? Have a Dyson thats no good on our new pile carpet (stops the scrubbing head rotation). So looking to replace it for a none rotation vacuum, put of by the talk of the new EU models.

Henry Bagged Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner - £99.99 @ Argos (+ £5 Argos voucher)
Found 28th MarFound 28th Mar
Cheapest I can find

Just to say, bear in mind this is intended to be a different model to the traditional Henry - an additional model in the range . It is slightly smaller capacity and lighter. You can still get the higher capacity one if you need it. All models have had to comply with the EU power regs and that is pretty consistent across all models now (i.e. same motor). Horses for courses in the domestic environment, but if you’re looking at robust vacuums for tradesman’s use, you’ll find a Henry model thrown in the back of the van. Good deal for this model.

I picked up my wired Shark NV680UK for £139.99 last year as an Amazon Deal of the Day which was an absolute steal. Cordless have their use, they are great and convenient (I "borrowed" my parents cordless Dyson, it never ended up going back haha) but for me, owning a cat that sheds a LOT, wired is the only way. The cordless is nice for a quick once-over but If it was my only vacuum I'd get a wired Shark for sure. It's still loads more convenient than Henry because of how much lighter and more versatile it is. The 5 year warranty on them is pretty decent, based on the build quality of it I reckon it'll last year and years. Just don't be paying full price though, they do go on offer and when they do they're loooads cheaper. Get an alert set up on HUKD :)

I know where you're coming from, I've had my Henry for about 8 years so far, it's heavy n wired but it just works. Whilst Sharks n Cordless ones seem good, initial outlay is about £2-300 n I know that after about 3-5 years it will need a new proprietary battery n I'll probably be looking at about what, £50, £80? for a new one. Too much outlay for me, n bad for the environment. If everything is going cordless then big batteries need to evolve to be standard, higher capacity n recyclable. :{

I see where you're going with that, but no one puts a vac on to heat the house. We should still be striving for efficiency when creating new products, with the product's intended purpose in mind.

I am freezing! I am freezing! I am absolutely cold, I am shivering and shaking like a pudding in a mold. There are glaciers in my stomach, there is sleet inside my bones, I am colder than the contents of a million ice cream cones. I am freezing! I am freezing! From my bottom to my top, all my teeth are clacking madly and I cannot make them stop. Oh I cannot feel my fingers, and I cannot feel my toes, now my cheeks are frozen solid, and I think I’ve lost my nose. I am freezing! I am freezing! Inside out and outside in, every bit of me is chilly, every single inch of skin, I have icicles inside me and my lips are turning blue, and I’m sneezing as I’m freezing, for I’ve caught a cold . . . Thanks OP. I got the last one from Fishponds, Bristol last night!

My parents' one stopped working recently and I had to try quite hard to urge them to NOT get the "A2" model and be very sure that the motor rating was 1200W and not the weak 500-600W one! Then Boxing Day I stripped it down and turned out that the motor carbon brushes had just gummed up, I scraped and 'exercised' them and it's all back up and running!

They should be - but nothing 'low powered' about my EU model. Just as fierce as my Dyson DC07 I've had for many a year.

Cold , it's not the one from 10 years ago that sucked a bit harder 🙄 Im joking, the Mrs bought this model and it's great, she usually destroys vacuum cleaners in around 6 months but this one is still going strong after a year. Built to last and bags hold loads

Is this the new low powered EU model?

That's good to know, thanks @scoon. For this price I'm probably better off waiting for a good deal on a Dyson V6 if I need cordless... but I'll prob end up going for corded Henry.

Are these Henry cordless version any good?

Its Freemans (same website, different logo). Also you can use TCB for 5.25% back I purchased this last week from Currys for £199. Its ok but not quite as good as I had expected. It does perform very well for a cordless but its not as good as a normal Henry.

Site looks like it’s part of the Grattan group so seems good.
