Stressed out with this as I really don't know what to do.
I ordered a part for my car on eBay early June, for Argos collection. I had just gone back to work so I ended up forgetting to collect. If I'd known about the 7 days I'd have tried harder to go get it.
Anyway... I went in, they said it had been returned to sender. I asked the sender if they'd received it and nothing. I'm now nearly 2 months and they still say unreceived.
I went back to Argos today and asked if they have any proof of sending, any return label tracking, but no. The rather unhelpful guy there just told me there's nothing he can do. I am pretty sure they should use a return label.
I'll add - I did open an eBay case but they sided with the seller. The original Argos collection number just shows ready for collection, still.
Now who is my complaint with? I feel like I'm left without my part and without my money. There is no way to prove if the seller gets the return. eBay don't have a contact number, Argos have wiped their hands...? This seems to be quite a common problem!
Any help / suggestions welcome. I'm pretty sure the T&C's cover both buyer and seller but I feel left in the dark!

sorted bythis is the usual time that things are held for you with click and collect. for some retailers, like wickes, i think it is 2 days.
I will get a refund but this shows a bit of a flaw in the Argos collection option. (edited)
argos is not great at the moment. the local store near me, which is a really big store, is still shut when all the other shops are open
there is a cheeky sign on the store window to say "we are still shut".
Rumour has it that Argos might shut most of its stand alone stores & only keep the ones in Sainsburys or add them into Sainsburys as a collection point.
They announced they were shutting either 60 or 70 stores before Xmas. So I guess they will stay closed. No point in opening them now.
i buy most stuff online now.
the supermarkets, wilko and the clothes shops are the only shops i tend to go into nowadays. but i would miss the buzz of the highstreet if all the shops shut down
Argos would have commenced a return when they sent it back.
The return will likely show delivered back to seller.
If they aren’t responding just open an eBay case and eBay will refund it.
Your parcel will be held in-store for up to 7 days, starting from when you receive your collection notification via email or SMS. If for any reason you aren’t able to collect it within this time, the parcel will be sent back to the seller. You’ll receive a refund within 6 working days of the seller receiving the item back.
The seller did what you asked them to do, i.e. deliver it to Argos.
Ring eBay, looks like they arrange return postage, it's either gone missing in Argos or on it's way back to the seller. eBay should be the ones to sort it out.
No. Their number is impossible to find.
No, I opened a not-received case. It did get to Argos so I assume it automatically closed in the sellers favour. If they have proof Argos didn't return it, imo, I should have a refund?
PayPal just pushes you to eBay!
No return open. If I open a return, that suggests I have it, which I don't. The item still shows as ready for collection even though there's been a case against it...
Item not received. I can't open a return case as I don't have it.
The seller has my money. The seller may also have the item as there is no way for me to see where it is. It's not at Argos! They aren't in limbo.
Yes - the seller did. But there's something wrong with the tracking clearly as it's not available to collect anymore but still shows it is, and Argos couldn't / wouldn't provide me with any Royal Mail tracking. The guy at the store basically wiped his hands. I'm not convinced it didn't get a return label stuck on it.
did you say that it still shows ready for collection at argos?
Yes - and I've been in today again. I'm onto eBay now.
The seller will have to prove your got it. Which they will not be able to do.
then your argument is with argos as they state it is still pending collection but they won't give you the blooming product!
i do think my local store won't open again as i think retailers are closing some stores in the new business model. it does make sense for argos to move away from the high street and into the sainsburys stores as this will be a big cost saving exercise. there is a big sainsburys nearby as well with an argos inside, so i think this is why the argos store has decided not to open.
it is the other side of town, where i don't tend to go as it has more traffic.
in a way it is really sad to see high street stores closing.
my husband said he saw on the news the other day that the government is thinking of bringing tax to online sales to discourage people from buying online and go down the shops. i hope that is not going to be the case as that will mean we will all have to pay more for goods.
Argos are only doing it because most people shop & buy online. Hence they will open a collection point in every sainsburys & every post office.
Probably work out at the same amount of jobs without the costs of a massive warehouse in every shop. (edited)
It wasn't an Argos store, rather one inside a Sainsbury's. I don't like where the shopping world is going.
My problem is money saving. It's always more expensive on the highstreet. Here at HUKD we're never going to fully get on with that. I'd probably pay a premium if I knew it would save the highstreet... Like a highstreet tax
I think we all do that mutley1. But I also think we are all trying to avoid the delivery charges & try and pick it up local. Pretty sure Sainsburys (who own Argos) recognise this hence creating pick up zones that avoid the charges.
yes, generally more expensive going into the high street shops. although i would hate to lose the high street, i am too tight and too selfish to want to pay any more than i have to, to save the shops.
as i said above, the government is thinking of introducing a tax on online sales to help the shops compete as they are all struggling. this would be good for the shops but this will be bad news for me as i would have to pay more for stuff. i sort of want my cake and eat it, if you know what i mean.
