Emergency phone simcard

Posted 9th May 2023
A while back, I remember seeing a deal or discussion about a sim card that was a pay once sim. I've had a google but can't find much other than a recurring pay monthly sim or pay as you go. I need a sim for a elderly relative who keeps having problems with the bt phone line going down. It would be nice to have a backup mobile set up so that if the landline is faulty , i can still make contact. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks.

It was from RWG but they’ve stopped doing the lifetime SIM deals now. They do still have ones where you can pay upfront but it’s just for a year or so then expires.

The best option is to get one of the o2 classic PAYG SIMs. They’re commonly found new and sealed for a pound or less on eBay.

    Top it up with £10, and it’s 3p a minute, 2p a text, 1p a megabyte.

Make a chargeable call at least once every 180 days and the account, number, and credit will remain active and not expire until it’s used up.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I think a PAYG will be the option I opt for.

    RWG freebie now dead.

o2 classic PAYG (3-2-1) SIM is 20p on the bay via 80% off 99p. Random ex:

Not having a bash at BT, but seriously:
    the phrase of:
elderly relative who keeps having problems with the bt phone line going down
means the elderly relative (possibly assisted by you) needs to play the vulnerability card with BT to either have the issues(s) resolved permanently and/or be provided with a BT sim at zero/low cost.

To continue BT bashing, see if your relative qualifies for "Free Priority Fault Repair Service" typically available to customers having chronic long-term illness or disability
