I find the wife hitting me in the night and shouting shut up works for her.

Never found one that worked for me. Just had to learn to live with it (as does my partner).

If you can get a doctor to recommend you to a sleep clinic then they may find the root cause but good luck as most doctors will not take it that far.

Normally getting punched makes you move and stop snoring, ask your partner if they're willing to help out
On a serious note ive seen people say they tape their mouth shut, apparently is advised by some drs, sounds like early death to me (edited)

I am in that position. I sleep with my mouth open and have dry saliva on my chin every morning.
Weight loss is the only way!

this is the NHS article on snoring. may be sleep with your head in a higher position will aid with breathing during sleep and so will mean less snoring.

i don't snore and i think it is because i sleep with my head very high up on several pillows. (edited)

I use a bespoke mouth guard made by my dentist. It’s not perfect but does help a lot

Ask your GP to refer you to the Sleep Clinic
After some tests they may give you a CPAP machine
Much longer and deep sleep, feel much better after waking up
    Good luck all the best

Weight loss for the snorer, ear plugs for the partner.

I hold my wife's nose for about 10 seconds and then she gasps for a huge breath. Stops her though

Tape mouth. Look that up online.
    Lose weight
Go see the doctor if you can't get things sorted.
I've lost weight but not made much difference tbh.
Breathing difficulties while sleeping are common as we get older. (edited)

You need something on your back to force you on your side if you are only snoring when you sleep on your back. Can sew a tennis ball in PJ's but Amazon sel things to wear.
