Hi,
I hope someone may be able to help me with making a decision on purchasing a new vehicle. Our previous vehicle is not repairable and now we need one that is big enough for a family of 4.
The things I am thinking about are:
1) Cheap insurance band
2) Cheap/Free road tax
3) Economical (I don't know if it is worth going for hybrid/electric/diesel/petrol).
4) Big enough for a family of four and a large boot.
5) Must be reliable
6)Happy to look at brand new or second hand
Thank you in advance

sorted byOr an EV but only until 2025.
EV’s are a no go for me due to charging infrastructure, home charger not available for me.
Plus with the price per kWh my 2016 diesel is cheaper to run.
My next car is probably going to be a Toyota Corolla hybrid touring sports.
Design or excel, Design was £26k a while back but a newer model is out now and it’s around 29-30k
If you know where to look.
Old offer and model.

My friend has a Toyota Prius 2015 with 187k on the clock.
Apart from serving and brake pad, only 2 things have gone wrong.
At 150k the electric water pump went, 5 bolts and an hour of our time to fix. £210 with new antifreeze.
Two weeks ago the hybrid battery was failing, mpg down to 44.
Found a Toyota specialist in Norbury near Croydon, scanned the car to confirm battery was the issue.
Brought out a brand new genuine boxed Toyota battery and fitted it all for £1400.
He is now back to 62 mpg, cabbing it.
Neither of these issues stopped the car from driving.
This is what I would call reliable.

Print out the quotes and beat you local dealer with them.
Not used any of them but others on here might have and could give the thumbs up.
