Yeah, I did the same - a couple of seasons with clip-ons on my road bike before buying a second hand TT bike, and then a few years later building up a new bike from scratch with lots of fancy parts. The limitations of clip-ons you've described are definitely there (although I tend to ride quite an aggressive, low position on my road bike which helped that part at least), but my gains for each change have got increasingly smaller and increasingly more expensive! A pair of <£50 clip-ons, a decent helmet and skinsuit gave me my single biggest time advantage (although my current TT rig is still definitely the quickest and 'sexiest' of the 3 set ups I've raced with). Spec says its 5800, so 11 speed at least, and a decent gearset.

Plus they can fix it! Magic really. But I might go old school and back to steel for my next bike. My custom titanium 29er is fabulous but I'm really not sure for a posh, 20 miles a day commuter, it's worth it...

The older style titanium frames with straight gauge tubes had a reputation for being indestructible but modern titanium frames with milled/butted tubes are no stronger than aluminium frames and in some cases worse. I do love titanium though makes a beautiful bike frame.

All jokes aside, weight doesn't matter so much when most TT courses are as flat as they can find. You need to start messing with the setup though to switch it into "TT mode". Stem lower, saddle may go up slightly and usually forward. Gears out of reach etc, depends on your course incline how much you need to use them. Rake on the fork is different too. The saddle itself will be a different style. I used to do this for years and its a pain. I agree with looking for a second hand one though. It's missing the 105 brakes (Tektro) *and* 105 crank (FSA). Also being 2016 will be an older revision, 5700 I think.

At least he’s enjoying himself (lol)

Hi James, at 5ft 8 what is your inside leg measurement please, thanks

I have/had several cannondale road and mtb and never had any trouble with any of them.

Have seen this at good price for a while but this is the cheapest i have seen it! Quite tempted to try a tt bike but not sure how i would get on with the position plus i live in a hilly area, this is a good way to try one without spending a fortune! Am i right in thinking you would downsize one size for a tt bike?

You bought Trigger’s bike?

This is a bad idea, the geometry is tri specific so it has an upright seat tube which puts your back in a much flatter position and rotates your body position forward of the crank. It's a specialised piece of kit and won't make a good road bike at all.

It's not trash. The Aldi/Lidl helmets were way, way better than expected and didn't exactly set a low bar. This one is just much less comfortable. As for effectiveness, you only ever really know when you've crashed.

Worse than Aldi/Lidl? Jeez now you making me think it’s trash - I’ve not picked it up yet

There's plenty of complaints about Mike Ashley, but this is one of the sillier ones.

London triathlon was just cancelled so there are almost no events left this year... This means lots of Tri stock that needs to be sold. I was due to take part but the last 9 weeks of lockdown have ruined my swim training now and I have no use for the wetsuit I hired for it (skeptical)

£2k RRP bike with a 105 groupset? Not sure this was ever a good deal!

Voodoo Nakisi £550 if you're willing to spend an extra 50. I've been riding it since december done almost 1,000km on road and on trails. Great bike.

My 5 year old son would overtake you up a hill as your fat backside wobbles all over the road.

Thanks for this - I almost ordered a bike from them today.

I tried to order some wheels from them that were in stock they took my money and took them 3 weeks to tell me it wasn't in stock even though the status said it had already been picked and was waiting to be collected for delivery. Not the best experience but I understand it's a strange time at the moment

Was going to order to realise I was never going to get It. Worst company in British history.

Ordered this last time and they cancelled my order

Not bad but mechanical disks and not hydraulic. Sora mech and only 28mm tyres which I think is better for road bikes whereas you might want mech a bit more rugged and wider tyres on a hybrid.

Well it’s miraculously disappeared now after 5 days of begging for a pic so they’ve shafted next nicely. I couldn’t have tried anymore. I phoned them twice, emailed 4 times

To be fair it could be direct from a shop and ex demo you expect not ridiculous damage. Just the odd gouge

Think you could consider the Decathlon Triban RC500 as an alternative: They even offer it in a similar blue!

This was over £100 less at Start Fitness last year. It's a 3 year old spec at least. Still Iiked the single ring.
