Nice knob!!

Big shiny knobs always look great, everyone loves them

Brilliant offer! If anyone is in the cupboard handle market, I'm looking for a multipack of handles that look like IKEAs Visthus range to upcycle a wardrobe, if anyone knows what I need to search for?

Thank You....that’s cheaper than cleaning mine. On my way to Wilko

Definitely National, I am from Derby which store did you find these in? Anyway I’ve been about traveling for miles building up a collection of door handles for our house and they have been reduced in every store I’ve been to. There are different styles available some in Homebase packaging some are in ikonic. Also different prices some are £5 as you mentioned OP. Hope that helps and Congrats on your first post op. :)

Another Derby HUKDer, welcome mate.

Chrome Door Handles £5 @ Homebase

Got mine from a Homebase in Birmingham (not sure of the official location, but was near QE Hospital ) but stock is store dependent, so if you need enough to do all doors in your house, you may need to travel to find sufficient quantities.

And what stores are these from please?

Brand is Ikonic. just fitted one on our bedroom door (entrance type with key operated lock). Replaced handles with 50mm backset (these are adjustable 60 or 70mm) so a bit of drilling required. I had to open out the centre hole to give clearance for the hardware as it was rubbing when the the retaining screws were tightened and the handle was operated. Also had to sink the latch part on the door frame as it quite deep. I used a step drill (cone drill), to open out the holes in the door, which made the job quite easy. Instructions say to use a 54mm hole saw when fitting them to a new door, but this is not possible when you already have a hole, so the step drill is a good alternative. End result was well worth it. They are chunky and feel good quality, and look very nice once fitted. Took a couple of hours, but I am no craftsman!

What make and model of door handles are these please?

Picked up 4 handles in satin chrome. Look and feel nice. Very heavy and appear good quality. Alot deeper mechanism in door so had to drill out my door etc to suit but much improved. Note i didnt measure my doors or existing handles hence drilling but could be done with little work if existing handles are same

Door handles satin nickel - £19.98 @ toolstation
Found 29th Oct 2017Found 29th Oct 2017
Found these on toolstation website. Says they are reduced from 49.98! It has some good reviews.

I bought them myself and they seem descent tbh. The latches were also good quality though they were the wrong size for me so I didn't bother replacing the old ones.

Reasonable £5 reduction from £24.98 Aug 2017 price.

Heat from me,just what I've been looking for (embarrassed)

any deals with a lockable handle???

Just looked at the Wilko ones, good reviews. It's good to get a choice but am genuinely happy with the screwfix one I fitted & still think it's a good deal as it's guaranteed for 10 years

I like Screwfix but I don't feel this is much of a deal. The 'free' latch is priced at 4.99 but can be had much cheaper, or even bundled. Wilko seem to sell the same things all inclusive for 7.99 (handle + latch)

Fitted a load last week but had to show fd30 compliance, howdens worked out cheapest at a lot more than this. Latch sets only 3 quid in wickes

Good timing ;)

I nearly bought the £5 B&q ones but the reviews put me right off, am really happy with these (y)

Heavy discounts on door handles between 40-80% @ Screwfix from
Found 6th Nov 2016Found 6th Nov 2016
Initially looked at Wickes who are offering a 40% discount, this is a better deal. Be sure to sort by low to high..

Ordered 2 lots of different handles on rose from handleking and, seriously, the quality is superb at twice the price. Very substantial weight to them and very smooth action. The joiner who fitted my oak doors couldn't believe the price I paid and orders all his handles from there now. Agreed about the postage against click and collect but I guess it all depends on the value you put on your time. Plus fuel costs to take into account. Looks like handleking charge 3.50 for P&P for oirders under 40 quid. Don't forget the 10% discount, though.

Can anyone recommend a decent handle and lock for white wooden doors? There's so many brands, I like the chome look, how many keys do you get with one handle? 1 key or 2?

Shame the hole pattern for where the screws go in doesn't match what handles I have already otherwise I would have been all over these like a rash! Heat added

Aldi now and again have proper quality stainless steel in different designs I done me whole place for about £24 Everyone that sees em comments and asks where I got them!

Thought I'd got a couple of cheap ones last time. Got an email and text to confirm they were at the branch ready for collection... Nothing there when I went to collect because they had been out of stock allegedly.

Was it a Renault Fuego?

Hi I live in a very rural area my car is 4x4 the roads are mainly single track roads for 2 mile radius from home. This does mean pulling over and catching brambles etc also my driveway in over 250 metres and its difficult to keep overhanging brambles, bracken branches etc cut back and maintained. I do look after my car, not as much as I'd like to, it is a project to wax the scratches out, this product will motivate me. But my quote re wear and tear from wikipedia still stands. I also live above the 'snow line' and my car is never garaged, nothing wax wont sort out though it will look like new soon will post pics! Cheers

Your definition of proper maintenance of paintwork is miles away from mine it seems. You clearly don't polish and wax your car, because it's covered in marks and scratches that my cars have never suffered from when I have owned cars of that age. So much for the door handle protectors, there are marks all over your doors above the handles from the photos you posted. The paint is very dull and non reflective, which says plenty to me who knows that you haven't really invested any real time in paintwork maintenance, so meh. You don't need handle protectors to save a few square inches, you need better care and maintenance my good fellow.

One owner - me - from new 11 years old 140,000 miles cherished NOT neglected thank you. Runs like the day I collected it from the main agent, i.e. perfect. Maybe your purchases never suffer from- if so well done, you must be in the .00000000000001% minority. Re 'obvious neglect'; "Wear and tear is a form of depreciation which is assumed to occur even when an item is used competently and with care and proper maintenance.

What about the scratches above the handles these wouldn't stop? Your car is just scratched to crap all over it seems and has poor paintwork due to obvious neglect from a prior owner or yourself. Mine certainly aren't scratched like that anywhere on the doors but then I look after them in the first place...

Thanks shabbird, late to the party on this one but still managed to get a handle on the deal. Whole house handles replaced for the princely sum of 10 of her majestys pounds sterling. Quality seems ok, very similar to old handles so very easy swap.

Thanks OP. Have bought new handles for every door in the house.

For new installs I'm not sure if it matters much, because you don't have to match existing holes in the door and frame. As far as I'm aware, the handle size is unrelated to the latch size. You may wish to read around and ask in store to confirm

I'm looking at picking up some of these door handles, however, because they will be new doors, will need the latch plates as well. I've looked on the website and the latch plates are different sizes, ie, 63 mm, 82 mm - how do you know what size latch plate to buy - I'm going to buy the small face plate door handles (100 mm long)? Thank you.

It should be fine on your bathroom door, but you might struggle to fit in on your toilet. Doable, but not the easiest of jobs. I applaud your thinking, though.

Looks as if they are electrically connected to car. Reviews on halfords look ok with both reviews using them for footwells.

I guess the main issue is that without being electrically connected to the car, it won't know when to turn itself on or off. Perhaps if it turns on when you unlock the car and off when you start the engine (like the main light) then it could be useful. If it is just a light with a manual on-off switch then its only good for the kids modding their first cars!

If these are self adhesive, does that make them tacky?

i think you'll find that they are only illegal if you have them on permanently when driving on public road. As a light to highlight a door handle when you unlock the car and timed to go off, then this is legal. I have not voted either way, but it's definitely reminded me of something I would have done in my younger days!

Same price on the Halfords website. Seems to be an identical description, except for the following line - which they've somehow omitted from their ebay page... "Not legal for use on public highways."
